Firemen rescue driver after car slams into back of container lorry at Bintulu traffic light
BINTULU, May 10 — A man sustained injuries after the car he was driving crashed into the rear of a container lorry at the traffic light junction of Kampung Jepak around midnight last night.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operations Centre, a team from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Bintulu) was despatched to the scene after receiving a call regarding the incident at around 12.12am to carry out rescue operations and extricate the victim.
'Upon arriving at the location, the team found that the incident involved two vehicles, with the victim's car having rammed into the rear of a container lorry,' it said.
The lorry driver, however, was confirmed to be uninjured.
The team proceeded to extricate the victim, who was trapped in the front driver's seat, using special equipment.
Once successfully freed, the 31-year-old local man was handed over to the Bintulu Hospital ambulance unit for further medical treatment.
After completing clean-up work at the scene, the team concluded the operation at around 12.53am before returning to the station. — The Borneo Post

According to MBSP, a meeting was held with the business owner involved to gather detailed information about the incident. The council emphasised that a full internal inquiry is underway to address the allegations made in the video. 'MBSP strongly urges the business owner to make an official report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission if there is genuine evidence of corruption involving MBSP staff,' the statement read. The council also reiterated that it does not tolerate any misconduct related to corruption or abuse of power among its personnel. The viral video, which runs for two minutes, features a man alleging that MBSP officers abused their powers at his friend's business premises. (Wikipedia pic) PETALING JAYA : Police have found no criminal elements in the death of a Taiwanese man who was run over by a train after falling onto the tracks at the Pusat Bandar Puchong LRT station on Tuesday. Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the case remains classified as sudden death, Harian Metro reported. 'There is no indication of any criminal activity. From the start, it has been treated as a sudden death case. 'We have the evidence showing that he fell,' Hussein told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters today. The body of the man, in his 60s, was sent to the forensic department of Sultan Idris Shah Hospital for a post-mortem. In February, a blind elderly man died when he was struck by a train after losing his balance and falling onto the tracks at the Titiwangsa LRT station. Prasarana Malaysia Bhd later said it planned to install platform sensors at LRT stations to enhance passenger safety, particularly for people with disabilities. The company also said it would begin installing platform screen doors at LRT stations, similar to those used in MRT stations.

(File pic) PETALING JAYA : A father of five has been jailed for three years by the Kuching sessions court after he pleaded guilty to striking his wife with a thermos mug earlier this month. Tang Cheng Chong, 44, pleaded guilty to voluntarily causing hurt to his wife at their home on Jalan Sejingkat 1 at about 10am on June 1, Dayak Daily reported. The facts of the case state that the couple had a heated argument after which the victim threw a piece of clothing at Tang, accidentally knocking over the mug and spilling his drink. He then struck her on the right cheek using the stainless steel thermos mug, leaving a cut. The charge was framed under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, which provides for up to 10 years in prison, a fine or both, upon conviction. It was read with Section 326A of the Penal Code, which allows for double the penalty since it is a case of domestic violence.
