EastEnders dominates as British Soap Awards 2025 winners are revealed
EastEnders has won big at The British Soap Awards 2025, picking up a whopping eight trophies on the night – including the highly coveted Best Soap.
The BBC One soap has had a whopper of a year, celebrating four decades on air with an explosive anniversary week that saw the return of Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp) and a surprise appearance from Angie Watts (Anita Dobson) as the Queen Vic was blown to smithereens.
The storyline that perhaps resonated with viewers the most was Phil Mitchell's (Steve McFadden) mental health battle, which won the popular serial a number of those gongs tonight.
In addition to Best Soap, EastEnders also won Best Single Episode, Scene of the Year, Villian of the Year, Best Dramatic Performance, Best Leading Performer, Best On-Screen Partnership and Best Comedy Performance.
The previous British Soap Awards, which aired in 2023, also saw EastEnders pick up Best Soap, with boss Chris Clenshaw's highly-praised tenure – particularly The Six story and Lola's brain tumour diagnosis – having gone down a storm with die-hard fans of the show.
In term of other victories tonight, Hollyoaks got its flowers too, picking up a well-deserved three wins – all for its powerful sibling sexual abuse storyline.
The Osborne clan was awarded with Best Family, while highly lauded Isabelle Smith – who plays Frankie Osborne – received Best Newcomer and the storyline in question itself won Best Storyline.
Emmerdale secured two trophies, with Best Young Performer going to Amelia Flanagan – who plays April Windsor – and The Tony Warren Award was presented to cameraman Mike Plant.

Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd reveals 'shock' over soap awards snub as he reflects on his reaction during ceremony
Coronation Street star Jack P. Shepherd was left gobsmacked after being snubbed at this year's British Soap Awards – and his stunned reaction said it all. The 37-year-old, who has played David Platt since he was 12, had high hopes of adding a third gong to his shelf during Saturday night's star-studded event. But despite being one of the longest-serving and most recognisable faces on the cobbles, Jack lost out to Patsy Palmer and her Eastender's character Bianca Jackson. While he congratulated the winner, Jack couldn't help but reveal how 'shocked' he was and felt the award should have been his, as he declared the was 'fuming'. Speaking on his podcast On The Sofa with co-stars Ben Price and Colson Smith, the star admitted he couldn't hide his reaction when the camera panned on him. The 37-year-old, who has played David Platt since he was 12, had high hopes of adding a third gong to his shelf during Saturday night's star-studded event but lost out to Patsy Palmer and her Eastender's character Bianca Jackson Colson said: 'You worked so hard to receive this Best Comedy nomination...' to which Jack replied: 'I have. 'I've been trying for years to get a nod for comedy cos I've never been nominated for it before.' Colson then probed: 'And how are you feeling about the result? Your frenemy...' Jack admitted: 'It was a shock. It was a shock. If you watched it, you will notice that my reaction is genuine. 'I'm completely blown away. I didn't win. I couldn't hide it.' Bursting into fits of laughter, Ben, 53, who plays Jack's onscreen brother Nick Tilsey joked: 'I was sat behind you and I'd gone. 'I couldn't think of anything more funny then not winning the comedy and then Patsy winning it who'd been in Big Brother with you - and then name checking you saying "I thought Jack would win"' To which Jack exclaimed: 'And then I said "So did I!"' Ben then asked: 'Were you fuming? Was that your fuming face?' 'Yeah' said Jack. 'I was just blown away. I was as much blown away as winning Big Brother as I was losing that award.' Speaking on his podcast On The Sofa with co-stars Ben Price and Colson Smith (pictured) Jack admitted while he congratulated the winner, he was 'shocked' and felt the award should have been his, as he declared the was 'fuming' Meanwhile Patsy left both the crowd and viewers at home in stitches during the British Soap Awards, as she went off in a tangent about vaginas during her award acceptance speech It was the BBC 's EastEnders that cleaned up on the night with eight awards while Hollyoaks received three, Emmerdale two and Coronation Street only one. Meanwhile Patsy left both the crowd and viewers at home in stitches during the British Soap Awards, as she went off in a tangent about vaginas during her award acceptance speech. The actress, 53, won the prize for Best Comedic Performance at the annual ceremony, held on Saturday night at London 's Hackney Empire. As she took to the stage to accept the gong, Patsy got rather sidetracked, as she deliver an ode to vaginas, that had the audience breaking down into laughter. She made the X-rated remarks in reference to EastEnders' live 40th anniversary special, which saw Bianca having to help sister Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) give birth after they became trapped in the Queen Vic with cousin Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) following the explosion. The scene had viewers cracking up as Bianca and Lauren argued over who had to help, with both reluctant to get up close and personal with the birth. It culminated with Bianca taking a huge glug from a bottle of brandy for some liquid courage, before declaring the now-iconic line: 'It's only a noony Lauren!' Referencing the hilarious moment, Patsy began her speech: 'Listen I haven't prepared a speech, because I really thought Jack was gonna win. 'To be able to funny in all what of we've seen tonight is nothing short of miracle really. I'd like to thank Shona McGarty for leaving, because if she hadn't have left I wouldn't have come back. 'I wasn't expecting that and I'm so glad I did because then I stayed for the 40th and that was really where we celebrated the women's vagina!' However, Patsy didn't stop there, valiantly continuing on to add: 'I think vaginas have always been funny.' She then changed tone to express her thanks to show and even choked back her tears, as she gushed: 'All jokes aside, coming back to EastEnders after quite some time has been the most amazing experience for me and I'm so grateful. Beyond grateful. 'And I'm not going to cry, so I'm going to go, because it is a comedy award. But you really have no idea what a gift it's been for me to come back.' EastEnders star slams soap and says show was 'far from a highlight' of career
Jamie Foreman, who starred in EastEnders as Derek Branning from 2011 - 2012, has spoken out about his time on the soap, saying it 'wasn't the highlight of his career' Former EastEnders star Jamie Foreman, who played Derek Branning in the BBC soap has criticised his time on the show. The star, who played the role of a Branning brother from November 2011 until December 2012 has said the role was "far from a career highlight". Despite only being on the soap for a year, Derek Branning had a number of memorable storylines, including his affair with Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), who was married to Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) at the time. In 2012, Derek starred as a main part of the Christmas Day episode, in which he had a heart attack and died. However, despite the huge storylines, actor Jamie Foreman has revealed his time on the soap wasn't a "highlight" in his career at all. Speaking on the Lewis Nicholls Show, Jamie said: 'I'm going to be a little bit controversial here. I don't see EastEnders as anywhere near the highlight of my career. It was another job. "And I know how iconic it is for people out there, and I respect it and what it represents, especially for the BBC. But for me… they'd asked me so many times before.' Jamie then revealed he was out filming in Germany when he got the phone call offering him the role - "again." He was then told he'd be "joining the best family," and could join for however long he wanted. "I said, 'I only want to do it for a year,'" he said. Explaining his reasoning behind his short stint, Jamie revealed he didn't want to get burn out, or become "trapped" when he had other work behind him. However, Jamie went on to reveal that the soap "made promises they never kept". Jamie claims he was told he wouldn't have to work on Saturdays - although he later claimed: "I did every Saturday. I was the first in, last out every day.' Speaking on the long hours, Jamie revealed he once filmed "36 scenes in a day," claiming working on a soap "burnt him out." Despite this, Jamie said he was thankful for the experience, although it was "far from a highlight of his career." Since departing Walford, Jamie has Double Decker Driving School, Birds of a Feather and Porters, to name a few.

Emmerdale star teases soap crossover with real-life Coronation Street siblings
Emmerdale actress Amelia Flanagan addressed whether it's possible her character will feature in scenes with her real-life Coronation Street brother and sister amid a crossover There's a soap crossover on the way, and one Emmerdale star is hopeful it will mean she gets to team up with her real-life Coronation Street siblings. Amelia Flanagan spoke exclusively to The Mirror about her excitement for the big soap twist, confirmed by ITV recently. With Amelia, who plays April Windsor on the soap, having siblings on Corrie it could well mean they feature in scenes together for the first time ever. Nothing has been revealed yet in terms of which characters from both soaps will be in the episodes, but we know at least one star from each show will interact. With talks of a public vote, it's not known who will be in those scenes. With Amelia hoping to film with her her fellow soap stars and brother and sister William and Isabella Flanagan in what would be an epic opportunity for the talented siblings, could we see the trio on the same episode at the same time? Amelia certainly would love to see it happen, with fans also questioning whether they might get the go ahead. Amelia told us at The British Soap Awards 2025: "I think everything is still in the pipeline at the moment, so we will have to watch this space and see what happens. It would be brilliant to explore that crossover because there's three of us in the soaps. "It would be incredible, and it's very exciting. So fingers crossed we get some scenes together. It's never been done before, the crossover, and so much could happen." At the awards, Amelia burst into tears as she was awarded the trophy for Best Young Performer, a category her younger brother William was also nominated for in his role as Corrie's Joseph Brown. William gave his sister a standing ovation and applauded her when the result came in. In a sweet moment she supported him right back, mentioning him in her winners speech. Sobbing as she clutched the award, she told the audience: "This means everything. I just want to say, my little brother who I love so much." Amelia went on to thank everyone at Emmerdale, before concluding with tears in her eyes: "Thank you so much, this means the world to me." The siblings later hung out together and with their co-stars at the afterparty, also joined by their parents. Amelia also spoke to us about what's ahead for her character after a huge year on the show. With a return on the cards for character Dylan Penders, Amelia told us: "April has had an incredibly tough year with what she has been through, with the pregnancy and the homelessness storyline. April and Dylan didn't leave things on the best terms, but I think what is important now is that he's back. "Who knows what will happen. It will be great to explore that relationship further, I think fans want to see that which is great." Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
