Rams news: MVP talk, surprise player and more for Cardinals fans to know
Another week in the NFL offseason, so it is time to see what has been going on with the Arizona Cardinals' NFC West rivals — the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks. What is new as we await the start of training camps later this month?
Below are a few stories from the last week that Cardinals fans should know about the Rams.
Davante Adams sees potential MVP for Matthew Stafford
Adams has spent most of his career as a teammate of Aaron Rodgers, who has won three MVP awards. Adams sees shades of Rodgers from those seasons in Matthew Stafford.
Byron Young named Rams' surprise player
Young has 15.5 sacks in two seasons in the NFL. He gets overshadowed by last year's Defensive rookie of the Year Jared Verse, but ESPN named Young the Rams' most surprising player of the offseason.
The Rams' red flag
The Rams are the favorite to win the NFC West again, but they are leaning on an aging quarterback in Stafford. His age and questions with the offensive line and its ability to protect him are seen as red flags for the Rams in 2025.
New LB fitting in
The Rams traded linebacker Ernest Jones last year and saw Christian Rozeboom leave in free agency. They signed former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Nathan Landman. So far, he has been a great fit.
Rams just a piece away from being really special
Hall of Fame running back Jerome Bettis talked about the Rams. He thinks they lack only an impact defensive back to be a "really, really special" team in 2025.

Vikings Legend Randy Moss Has Strong Words for Justin Jefferson
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Minnesota Vikings have been blessed with a lot of wide receiver talent over the years. From Randy Moss to Justin Jefferson, the quarterbacks playing for the Vikings have had some of the best weapons to work with in NFL history. Moss is considered by most to be a top three to top five wide receiver of all-time. Jefferson is on pace to force his way into that conversation as well. Through the first five years of his NFL career, Jefferson has played at an insanely high level. He has appeared in 77 games, racking up 495 receptions for 7,432 yards and 40 touchdowns. He's just 26 years old as well and has plenty of time left playing at an elite level. Read more: Vikings Slapped With Alarming JJ McCarthy Honesty Before 2025 Season While there are a lot of questions surrounding the Vikings as a whole, everyone knows what to expect from the superstar wide receiver. Recently, Moss spoke out and did not hold back about Jefferson. As shared by TMZ Sports, the legendary wideout has a very high opinion of the current Minnesota star. "I think Justin Jefferson is on pace to be arguably the greatest ever and definitely the greatest Viking to ever do it!" Moss said. "I've always been a fan of a complete football player, where you can score from anywhere on the field. And Justin brings that to the table. If you want to really be legendary, this is speaking for all wide receivers, not just Justin Jefferson, you gotta find ways to get in that end zone and bring the fans out of the stands up out of their seats." He played in 218 total games, catching 982 passes for 15,292 yards and 156 touchdowns. Obviously, Jefferson still has a long way to go to catch Moss. However, he's got plenty of time to do it if he stays on his current pace. Getting this kind of praise from an all-time legend shows just how good the young wideout has been thus far. Entering the 2025 NFL season, Jefferson will be looking to keep the Vikings in contention and also improving his legacy. For more Minnesota Vikings and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

49ers superstar may have spilled the beans on new starter along offensive line
The San Francisco 49ers will have a new starting left guard this season, and tight end George Kittle may have announced who it's going to be. Aaron Banks, a 2021 second-round pick, held down the starting left guard job for the last three seasons. He signed a four-year, $77 million contract with the Green Bay Packers in free agency and opened a vacancy on San Francisco's offensive line. There's presumably going to be a battle for that starting LG job between last year's backup Ben Bartch and former starting right guard Spencer Burford. That may still be the case, but Kittle only specified one name while talking to the Athletic's Vic Tafur about some of the team's key departures from the offseason. "Deebo will always be amazing and Aaron played really well for us," Kittle told Tafur at the American Century Championship. "But I am excited about Ben Bartch because I love him as a guy. I am just looking forward to guys taking advantage of the opportunities — because there are a lot of them. We have a lot of weapons on offense — we even have one at left tackle in Trent Williams — and we should still be able to score points.' It wouldn't be a huge surprise if Bartch winds up starting considering how well he acquitted himself in brief action last year. Perhaps Kittle did only name him because of a friendship between the pair. However, Bartch appears to be the frontrunner for the job going into camp and Kittle may have let slip that there's no battle anticipated at left guard. Bartch re-signed with San Francisco this offseason on a one-year, $1.3 million deal with the club. He will be entering his sixth season after joining the NFL in 2020 as a fourth-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars out of Saint John's University in Minnesota. In five seasons he has played in 49 games with 22 starts. He has two starts since signing with San Francisco midway through the 2023 campaign. Both of those came last season. His 2024 season was cut short by a high ankle sprain, but it appears Bartch will have a chance to redeem himself as the 49ers' starting left guard this year. NFL execs, coaches rank Colts' Quenton Nelson among best interior OL
No surprise here, but NFL execs and coaches rank the Colts' Quenton Nelson among the best interior OL. No surprise here, but NFL execs, coaches, and scouts believe that the Indianapolis Colts' Quenton Nelson is one of the best interior offensive linemen entering the 2025 season. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler compiled his ranking of the top 10 interior offensive linemen, and to do so, he spoke with the "league's true insiders." After coming in at No. 2 last season on this list, Nelson is No. 3 this year. "Nelson is building what could become a Hall of Fame case, making the Pro Bowl every year since 2018," wrote Fowler. "The Colts thought Nelson bounced back with a resurgent 2023 after a down 2022 (for his standards), and he remained solid in 2024 with a 94.4 pass block win rate and 77.1 run block win rate, the latter tying for first among the top 10 interior linemen." As mentioned, Nelson has now made seven consecutive Pro Bowls, and he was a second-team All-Pro in 2024 as well, his first time making an All-Pro team since 2021. Along with ESPN's metrics, PFF's data also illustrates what was a very good 2024 season for Nelson. He ranked 15th among all guards in pass-blocking efficiency, and he was fourth in run-blocking grade. Running back Jonathan Taylor averaged 4.8 yards per rush when running to Nelson's direct left and 5.3 yards per rush when running to his direct right. With second-year players Tanor Bortolini and Matt Goncalves taking over at center and right guard, Nelson's experience and high level of play will be crucial in providing the Colts' interior offensive line with any needed stability with two relatively inexperienced starters next to him. Certainly, all eyes will be on Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson, but consistent success for either of those quarterbacks starts with the Colts' offensive line providing time in the pocket and a run game to lean on.
