Pune Man Threatened By Raj Thackeray Party Workers Over Social Media Post
Amidst the ongoing Marathi-non-Marathi row, a group of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers allegedly entered a man's residence in the Vanaz area of the city on Thursday and threatened to assault him over an objectionable social media post targeting MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
The man, identified as Kedar Soman, had reportedly posted a comment on Facebook that MNS workers found offensive and disrespectful to their leader. Enraged by the post, a group of party workers led by senior Pune MNS leader Hemchandra Sambhush gathered outside Soman's flat.
The group allegedly barged into the residential premises, shouting abuses and threats, and demanded that Soman come out of his house. However, upon seeing the aggressive mob, Soman locked himself inside his flat, avoiding a physical confrontation. A video of the incident also went viral on social media.
The situation quickly escalated, with MNS workers threatening to beat him if he dared to step outside. The commotion attracted the attention of residents, prompting police intervention. The Pune Police promptly arrived at the location and managed to bring the situation under control before it escalated into violence.
While speaking to ANI, MNS leader Hemchandra Sambhush said, "Kedar Soman made objectionable post about our leader, we reached out to his residence after verifying his identity to teach him a lesson but before we could do anything police also reached there took him in custody...we responded to this incident in MNS style first we request with folded hand if person doesn't understands us than we slap,...yes we could found us than we would beat him for sure ... he not only commented Raj Thackeray but also against Uddhav Thackeray.. therefore I am sure this act by him was politically motivated ".
In an interesting turn, Pune Police have booked Kedar Soman under cyber law, confirming that an investigation is underway into the content of his social media post that allegedly triggered the confrontation. Authorities are examining whether his post violated any laws related to public order or communal harmony.
Earlier, a video of a 48-year-old sweet shop owner in Mumbai's Mira Road being assaulted allegedly by a group of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena workers for not speaking Marathi went viral on social media, sparking a debate over political vigilantism in the state.

'Hit below their eardrums': In Mumbai, Thackeray cousins go no-filter
NEW DELHI: After more than 20 years of political estrangement, cousins Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray came together on Saturday at a joint rally in Mumbai. The event, titled Awaj Marathicha (Voice of the Marathi) marked the first time since 2005 that the two leaders shared the same political platform. Organised to celebrate the rollback of two state government resolutions introducing Hindi from Class 1 in schools, the rally also signalled a potential new political alliance. 'Yes, we are gunda' He then turned his attention to the BJP, accusing it of political opportunism. "You (BJP) have used us enough already. If you didn't have the support of Balasaheb Thackeray, who knew you in Maharashtra? Who are you to teach us about Hindutva? When riots were happening in Mumbai, then we Marathi people had saved every Hindu in Maharashtra, be it anyone. If you are calling Marathi people 'gundas' doing their protest, seeking justice. Then yes, we are gunda." Calling for lasting unity among regional parties and leaders, he said, "Our strength is in our unity, whenever some challenging time comes, we all come together, but we all have experienced that when the challenging time passes, we all go for our personal interests, which should not happen this time..." Uddhav also accused the BJP of damaging Maharashtra's industrial and economic base, "They always ask us what we did for Marathi people in Mumbai during our rule in BMC. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Providers are furious: Internet access without a subscription! Businesses are being transferred to Gujarat. Big offices are going to Gujarat. The diamond business has already shifted to Gujarat, so you have made all attempts to break the backbone of Maharashtra and continue to do that, and you are asking questions to us. " 'You must hit below their eardrums' Raj Thackeray on the other hand addressed both the language issue and the criticism directed at his party. "Be it Gujarati or anyone else here, must know Marathi, but there is no need to beat people for that if they don't speak Marathi. But if someone shows useless drama, you must hit below their eardrums. I tell you one more thing: if you beat someone, don't make a video of the incident. Let the person beaten up tell that he has been beaten up, you don't need to tell everyone that you have beaten someone." He also pushed back at those who questioned the MNS's commitment to Marathi simply because their children studied in English-medium schools. "They say that our children have learnt in English medium schools. So what? Dada Bhuse studied in Marathi schools and became a minister. Devendra Fadnavis studied in an English-medium school and became the Maharashtra CM. So what? I would tell you that I studied in a Marathi school, but my father, Shrikant Thackeray, and uncle, Balasaheb Thackeray, studied in an English medium school. Can anyone raise a question about their love for Marathi? Tomorrow, I will learn Hebrew also. Will anyone raise a question about my pride in Marathi?" He concluded his speech by framing the Hindi language policy as a broader test of regional resilience. "I don't have anything against Hindi, no language is bad. It takes a lot of effort to build a language. We Marathi people ruled over a lot of states during the Maratha Empire, but we never enforced Marathi on those parts. They started with the experiment of imposing Hindi over us and were trying to test if we would not have opposed it, they would have gone upto making Mumbai separate from Maharashtra."

Raj & Uddhav share public platform after 20 years
Mumbai, July 5 (UNI) In a turning point in Maharashtra politics, the Thackeray cousins, Uddhav and Raj, came together under one platform after two decades amplifying the cause of Maharashtra and Marathi-manoos. The ruling BJP-led Mahayuti and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA)-INDIA opposition bloc are witnessing the development keenly. Uddhav, the Shiv Sena (UBT) head, is an MVA ally. Raj, the founder-president of MNS, is currently independent of an alliance. After differences with Uddhav, Raj had walked out of the undivided Balasaheb Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, in 2005 and in 2006, he formed the MNS. The coming together of the cousins in 2025 -- after a gap of 20 years -- is significant on many counts. Significantly, the year 2026 marks the 100th birth anniversary of Balasaheb -- the founder of Shiv Sena -- and 60th foundation year of the party. Founded by late Balasaheb (January 23, 1926-November 17, 2012), the Shiv Sena is at crossroads because of a split in the party which once had a dominant position in the western Indian state's politics where for over quarter of a century, coalition politics has been the order. From the iconic Shivaji Park, which Sainiks refer to as Shiv-Teerth, Balasaheb, in his first Dussehra rally on October 30, 1966 had given the message of '80 takke samaj-karan, 20 takke raj-karan' (80 per cent social work, 20 per cent politics). Today, Uddhav and Raj plan to "go back to basics' for the revival of their respective parties which posted their worst-ever performance in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly polls. Four major rebellions mark the the regional party's political journey: first by Chhagan Bhujbal (1991) followed by Narayan Rane (2005), then, Raj Thackeray (2005-06) and finally by Eknath Shinde (2022), who now controls the 'real' Shiv Sena and the iconic 'dhanushya-baan' (bow and arrow) electoral symbol. has deeply affected the party. While Raj floated MNS on March 9, 2006 and has the 'railway engine' symbol, Uddhav heads Shiv Sena (UBT) and has the 'mashaal' (flaming torch) symbol. Eknath Shinde toppled the Uddhav-led Maha Vikas Aghadi dispensation comprising the Congress and undivided Shiv Sena and undivided Sharad Pawar-led NCP. He joined hands with BJP to become the Chief Minister with the party's former CM Devendra Fadnavis as the Deputy CM. A year later, Ajit Pawar rebelled against his uncle and joined hands with BJP to become the Deputy CM. The year 2024 came with a mixed bag. In the Lok Sabha polls, the MVA performed very well in Maharashtra, however, Fadnavis with the support of the RSS turned tables and ensured that the opposition benches did not get the post of Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly. In the 2024 Assembly polls, Shiv Sena could barely get 20 seats while MNS failed to open its account. UNI AAA PRS
