BTS discharge countdown: RM, V, Jimin and Jungkook set to rejoin civilian life on June 10 and 11
SEOUL, June 7 — The wait is almost over for ARMYs around the world. RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook — four of the seven members of global K-pop juggernaut BTS — are days away from completing South Korea's mandatory military service, their agency BigHit Music confirmed.
RM and V will be discharged on June 10, followed by Jimin and Jungkook on June 11.
The group's eldest member, Jin, and J-Hope completed their duties last year, while Suga, who has been serving in an alternative public service programme due to health reasons, is scheduled for discharge on June 21.
Fans eager to catch a glimpse of their idols have been urged to stay away from military bases due to safety concerns.
In a statement, BigHit Music made it clear: 'The discharge day is reserved for military personnel only... Each location has very limited space, and overcrowding can pose safety risks.'
The agency added that RM and V will appear briefly in Chuncheon, while Jimin and Jungkook will speak in Yeoncheon — but no official fan events are planned at these locations.
'We kindly request that fans avoid going to the bases,' the agency stressed.
Still, excitement is building.
Just two days after Jungkook and Jimin's discharge, BTS — minus Suga — will reunite for a 12th anniversary celebration at the BTS Festa on June 13 and 14 at Kintex, Goyang.
The event is expected to mark the first official appearance of the group's reunited lineup in over a year.
Speculation continues to swirl about a possible regrouping and world tour later this year, but so far, BigHit has made no formal announcements.

In a two-phase structure, 30 selected Taiwanese creators will first participate in industry-led masterclasses before four standout projects advance to a six-month development lab working alongside Hollywood veterans. Select projects could potentially move into international co-production in 2026. High-caliber Hollywood mentors include Amy Rardin (producer, Marvel's 'Strange Academy' and 'Echo'), Jessica O'Toole ('American Girl' series, 'Invisible Sister'), and BAFTA winner Debbie Moon ('Wolfblood'). The program also offers an NT$260,000 ($8,600) script development grant per selected project. 'As the YA genre continues to grow globally, it remains relatively nascent in Asia,' said Janice Chua and Sean Dulake, TCC co-founders. The lab builds on established industry relationships, as TCC's Chua and S11's Cora Yim previously collaborated on 'Emerge,' another Taiwan-based development program that incubated five TV series and six features between 2022 and 2024. 'Adolescence is a powerful threshold – full of questions, change, and possibility,' said Yim. 'We're honored to partner with PTS XS and Third Culture Content on this teen drama development lab, giving young Taiwanese storytellers the tools to shape their own teen drama narratives.' PTS XS, which launched in 2024 as Taiwan's first cross-media platform exclusively for viewers aged 3-18, views the collaboration as strategic positioning in the competitive Asian youth content market. 'We are deeply grateful to our partners at Third Culture Content and S11 for their collaboration and expertise,' said Yu Pei Hua of PTS XS. Four members of Korean band BTS to end military service next week
Four singers from the Korean band BTS will complete their compulsory service in the South Korean military next week, increasing fans' hopes that the globally popular K-Pop band will make a comeback. The Yonhap news agency reported on Saturday, citing the band's management, that members RM and V will be discharged on Tuesday and Jimin and Jungkook a day later after 18 months. For security reasons, no public event is being planned to mark the occasion, it said. In South Korea, all able-bodied men must complete 18-21 months of military service. The military service had postponed any prospect of the seven-member band reuniting. The BTS members are between their late 20s and early 30s, and two have already completed their military service. Rapper Suga is expected to complete his alternative civilian service on June 21.
