Tyson Fury admits he is 'very bitter' about one result in boxing career
Tyson Fury was beaten twice by Oleksandr Usyk last year before he decided to hang up his gloves at the start of this year
Tyson Fury remains 'bitter' about the scoring of his rematch defeat by Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury was twice beaten on points by the Ukrainian last year as he suffered the first losses of his professional career. He missed out on the chance to become the undisputed heavyweight world champion and then fell short in the sequel. And according to WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman, Fury is not over the second reversal.
"I call him regularly and he said: 'Oh I'm so happy, retired, I'm here with my wife.' He didn't hint whatsoever that he was planning on coming back," he told Sky Sports. "He told me he was not happy with the decision in the second fight with Usyk.
"He's still very bitter about the judges' scoring and he was very upset but he was retired, that's what he said. Maybe like in The Godfather, the movie, maybe we'll hear him say: 'Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!' We don't know…"
Fury has called for a trilogy fight with Usyk who must first overcome Daniel Dubois at Wembley next month. And Sulaiman would be ready to hand Fury an immediate world title shot if he does return.
Speaking to Action Network, Sulaiman said:'If Tyson decides to come back to boxing, he always has a door open with the WBC. He will always be number one so absolutely (we will give him a world title shot if he returns) because he is top of the top.
"He carried boxing through the dark times of the pandemic and Tyson is the one who elevated the sport and he's the one who got Saudi Arabia to look into boxing."
"Spencer Brown is a tremendous influence, a great manager and now he's managing and promoting fighters. It's a great team so it's a win win (for everyone) and my love and my gold heart goes to Tyson Fury and his team."
Fury has also been linked with a clash with Anthony Joshua with whom he has shared a decade-long rivalry without ever meeting in the ring. Joshua has not fought since he was knocked out by Dubois last September and is recovering from elbow surgery.
He could return towards the end of the year with Deontay Wilder also on his shortlist of opponents. The American fights on Friday night for the first time since he was stopped by Zhilei Zhang last summer.

Dan Evans blasts his 'clueless' display after being warned of unsportsmanlike behaviour for 'crazy' line call complaints in straight-sets Eastbourne defeat
A frustrated Dan Evans blasted his 'clueless' performance as he crashed out of the Eastbourne quarter-finals in straight sets to American lucky loser Jenson Brooksby. Evans was warned for unsportsmanlike behaviour during his 6-2, 6-3 defeat as he complained about multiple 'crazy' line calls that went against him on Court 1. When the two shook hands at the net, Brooksby said: 'Well played, good match.' 'Was it? It wasn't for me,' replied Evans. 'It was clueless.' Brooksby didn't face a single break point during his victory as the American dealt much better with the windy conditions. Evans hit just 11 winners and made 29 unforced errors. Evans had fought back tears after he beat world No13 Tommy Paul to reach the quarter-final to make it back-to-back wins against top-20 opposition after dispatching world No12 Frances Tiafoe at Queen's last week. The 35-year-old only recently regained his place in the world's top 200 and has been given a wildcard for Wimbledon next week. Evans had to battle from the start in the breezy conditions against Brooksby, struggling for any rhythm, and needed to save a break point in an eight-minute opening service game despite having raced into a 40-0 lead. He faced two more in his second service game and a miscued strike long beyond the baseline handed Brooksby an early break in the first set before the American broke again to make it 4-1. Brooksby dealt far better with the crosswinds, using his unplayable drop shot to great effect, and allowed Evans to win just two points against his serve in the opening set that he wrapped up 6-2 in 39 minutes. Evans cut a frustrated figure and continued to question the accuracy of the line-call technology before being given a warning for unsportsmanlike conduct. He felt a couple of Brooksby's shots that the technology called in, including one late in the second set, had bounced over the line. 'It was out,' called one incredulous supporter. 'Crazy stuff, puts you on a total downer,' Evans muttered to himself as Brooksby broke to lead 4-3 in the second set before wrapping up the match soon after. Evans was the last remaining Brit to fall at Eastbourne after Billy Harris lost in straight sets 7-6, 6-1 to fourth-seed Ugo Humbert as he missed out on reaching the semi-finals for the second year running. Harris fought back from 5-2 down in the first set, saving two set points, to level at 5-5 before forcing a tie-break only for Frenchman Hubert to claim it 7-4. Humbert didn't look back, breaking Harris's first two service games to race into a 4-0 lead before wrapping up the win with another break to take the second set 6-1. Harris, who qualified for the tournament as one of the lucky losers, had stunned fellow Brit Cameron Norrie in the first round before dispatching Italian Mattia Bellucci to reach his third ATP quarter-final.

Boxing fans react to Jake Paul footage - 'You can't be serious'
The 'Problem Child' makes his highly-anticipated return to action this weekend, but fans have been left unimpressed after training footage of the American went viral Boxing fans have brutally slammed Jake Paul's pad work ahead of his return to the boxing ring this weekend. The YouTuber-turned-boxer will take on former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in Anaheim on Saturday night. Paul has not fought since defeating Mike Tyson last November. Despite being expected to knock the boxing veteran out, the 'Problem Child' cruised to a victory on points. Chavez Jr scored a convincing decision victory over ex-UFC star Uriah Hall in his last outing last July. However, the 39-year-old has been fairly inactive over the past few years. Many are expecting Paul to get his hand raised on fight night as he targets future bouts against the likes of Anthony Joshua and Gervonta Davis. With just days to go until Paul's return, boxing fans have been left unimpressed after footage of him hitting the pads at the official open workout went viral. While many were quick to praise the American's speed, there were a few who were left rather uninspired by the clip. A fourth wrote: "He looks awful." Another replied: "This has to be a joke?" "He's f****** s****," wrote another. "You can't be serious?" Another user commented, while another replied: "Why does he look like he's getting worse not better." Nevertheless, Paul is eager to once again show the world what he is capable of and prove his critics wrong. With both men in the final stages of their respective camps, the pair recently went face-to-face to preview their blockbuster cruiserweight dust-up on Saturday night. Immediately, the two stars were quick to trade barbs before the interview exploded after the Mexican accused Paul of taking drugs. "He said you look like you on some s***," said Chavez Jr's translator. Unable to sit and take the rather bold accusation, the social media sensation hit back: "VADA is here today.... what the f***? This is how dumb you are! He is angry. He is an angry little elf. You and your team are a bunch of idiots. You are like 'oh he is on s***.' What are you trying to say?" Refusing to back down from the verbal spat, Chavez Jr replied: "When you fight (Mike) Tyson do not do anti-doping. When I fight in Tampa for the first time in 20 years they do not make me do anti-doping in your fight... so it is something to you. No cheating. I love boxing!" Paul's only loss in the ring so far came against long-time rival Tommy Fury back in 2023. Since then, he has regained some momentum. On Saturday night, he fully expects to get the job done. 'Well, start planning it out, buddy," he said. "I'm gonna have my team get the jersey, we'll hang it up in the arena. It'll be nice. We can get you a little Mexican band to play a nice song for you and send you off to hiding.'

Manny Pacquiao issues cutting 11 word response to Eddie Hearn 'mockery' claim over world title boxing comeback
The Pacman takes on Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title in Las Vegas on July 19 Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao insists he will let his fists do the talking in his controversial comeback fight for the WBC welterweight world title next month. Despite not having stepped into the professional ring for nearly four years, the 46-year-old takes on current champion Mario Barrios in Las Vegas on July 19, with the WBC's rules stipulating that former title holders are immediately considered as potential opponents during a voluntary defence. The decision to hand eight-division world champion Pacquiao, who last won a bout against Keith Thurman in 2019, a world title shot has attracted its fair share of criticism in boxing circles, with many arguing that the ageing star should not have been granted a license to fight again in the first place. One of those vocal critics is Matchroom Boxing CEO Eddie Hearn who reckons Pacquiao's comeback at the top level is making a mockery of the sport. He said: "You can't just be out for five years, like already be done and then come back, have a couple of exhibitions, look terrible, and then phone up the WBC and say 'stick me in at number' — what's he five? "But also, it is a business and I do understand but it just makes a little bit of a mockery of the world championships. "And Barrios is not the greatest world champion but I think he's better than what we saw the last time out, when he boxed on the Mike Tyson card, and I think he'll beat Manny Pacquiao quite handily. "I'm happy for Manny but it just should work out like that, and you'll see a shot legend in the ring, which I think is quite sad. "But, listen, if he wants to do it and he's got the will to do it, good luck to him. But I just don't think you should be out five years, not fight anybody, and then just stroll back into the rankings because you're Manny Pacquiao. "Do the fight, but it shouldn't be for the world championship, in my opinion. "But I don't think he has a chance at all, even though Barrios has showed no great form. I think he'll just be too young and strong for him.' The Filipino flash has now hit back at the promoter with an 11-word response as he continues his training camp for the showdown with Barrios. Asked about Hearn's remarks, a smiling Pacquiao replied: "Just watch on July 19th. It will be a good fight." Barrios, 30, has also warned his much older opponent that he is fully intending to get the job done in devastating style on the night. Speaking to YSM Sports Media, the Mexican-American fighter said: "I am going in there with our game plan. "I am going in there with bad intentions. At any point, if I see I have him hurt, it's kill or be killed in there. I see I have him hurt, I am trying to get him out of there. "If the roles were reversed, he wouldn't take it easy on me. It's just the reality of the sport, it's kill or be killed in there."
