Kneecap rapper to appear in court for alleged support of terrorist group
A member of rap group Kneecap is due to appear in court for allegedly supporting a proscribed terror organisation. Liam Og O hAnnaidh, who performs under the stage name Mo Chara, is accused of displaying a flag in support of Hezbollah at a gig in November last year. Demonstrations in support of the rapper have been organised outside Westminster Magistrates' Court in London where he is due to appear on Wednesday, as well as in Dublin. The Metropolitan Police has imposed conditions limiting where the demonstration outside the court can take place on Wednesday, saying they were needed to 'prevent serious disruption'. In response the rap group described this move as a 'calculated political decision' that was 'designed to try and portray support for Kneecap as somehow troublesome' and 'asked supporters to go out of your way to be compliant with all instructions issued, irrespective of how pitiful'. O hAnnaidh received a rockstar welcome when he appeared at the same court in June, supported by fellow bandmates Naoise O Caireallain and J J O Dochartaigh. He was greeted by a festival-like atmosphere for his first court appearance, with dozens of fans waving flags, playing drums and one supporter setting off a smoke canister. The court previously heard the 27-year-old defendant is 'well within his rights' to voice his opinions on the Israel-Palestine conflict, but the alleged incident at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, north London, was a 'wholly different thing'. O hAnnaidh is yet to enter a plea to the charge.

Mother of boy who accidentally shot self at friend's St. Paul home wants answers
The mother of Rasheek Long Lynch, the 12-year-old boy who police said accidently shot himself in the head while visiting a friend's house in St. Paul, Minnesota, wants answers. Police said the shooting happened on Aug. 11 at about 1:30 a.m. off Congress Street West and Stryker Avenue, just south of Downtown in the Riverview neighborhood. Rasheek Long Lynch was rushed to Regions Hospital. "They said my son wasn't going to make it overnight," mother Kierra Lynch said. When Kierra Lynch got the call, she and her mother were hours away in Lafayette, Indiana. "He was not home with his dad, he was at a friend's house," she said. Kierra Lynch said her son is now out of critical condition, with a long road of rehabilitation ahead. Investigators do not know who the gun belongs to, or how the boy got it. "The police are trying to tell me that it is an accident and that he shot himself," she said. Kierra Lynch said she needs to know the answers to those questions, and more. "My baby has a bullet in the middle of his skull," she said. "I'm not leaving here until I get answers. I have to know. I'm not going to be able to rest tonight until I know, and I just want answers." Right now, she is focused on her son's recovery. "They told me his right side was probably going to get problems, he probably wasn't going to be able to move his right side. Thank God, he's been moving his right side," she said. "He has not talked yet, but he has been moving, he's been active." She hopes her son will regain the life he once had — full of sports, school and just being a kid. "He just likes to do any normal thing that any other kid does," she said. "He loves to be on his game, he loves to be on his phone, he loves social media." Until then, she has a message for parents when it comes to guns and young people. "Monitor your babies. Monitor who they're hanging out with. Keep eyes on them. Be noisy, be overly noisy, pay attention" she said. Kierra Lynch started an online fundraiser to help while she's in Minnesota during her son's recovery.

Massachusetts State Police Lt. hit by motorcycle transferred to rehab, hopes to return to work
A motorcade of police motorcycles, cruisers, and an ambulance made its way into Spaulding Rehab in Cambridge on Tuesday afternoon with some fanfare for one Massachusetts State Police Lieutenant. Inside the ambulance was Lt. Donald Bossi, the state police trooper who on June 23 was hit by a motorcycle right outside the Revere Beach police barracks, and sent flying 40 feet. The trooper's condition has been touch-and-go, with organ issues, broken bones, and more. He has been in the ICU at Mass General Hospital since late June. Prosecutors have described his survival as a miracle. The motorcycle had allegedly been stolen and driven by 18-year-old Akram El Moukhtari, who is facing charges in connection with the incident. Lt. Bossi was brought out of the ambulance on a stretcher and was flanked by colleagues who greeted him with warm handshakes. He thanked them all for their support. "I'm just lucky to be alive," he told reporters as he was wheeled into the rehab center. "And my goal is to get back to work by next summer — maybe sooner." The staff at Spaulding shares that goal and said that a full recovery is possible. The Cambridge location of the rehabilitation center deals with more long-term, complex recoveries like Bossi's. "He's very motivated, so you know it could be anywhere from 3 to 8 weeks, depending on what he needs… But he will be here until he's able to fully recover, and go home," said Joanne Fucile, the Associate Chief Nurse at the rehab center. Bossi will undergo intensive therapy, with up to three hours per day of occupational and physical therapy. Fucile says his go-getter attitude is already a step in the right direction towards success.
