Target shooting suspect Ethan Nieneker's chilling claim after ‘killing 3 at random' as he drips blood in new mugshot
THE man accused of shooting three people dead, including a child, outside of a Target made a disturbing comment about Jesus after the sick crimes.

Police said that Nieneker randomly shot 24-year-old Target employee Hector Leopoldo Martinez Machuca before rushing over to Adam Chow, 65, and his 4-year-old granddaughter and killing them as he stole their car.
The Austin Police Department revealed the victims' identities one day after the crime, and opened up on the suspect's deranged ravings and senseless motive.
Speaking to reporters about Nieneker, homicide detective Nathan Sexton said, "He said that he was Jesus and there was no real reason whatsoever given.
"It was a completely random choosing of the victims."

Cops arrived at the scene at 2:23 pm and found the worker suffering from gunshot wounds, the Austin Police Department said.
He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but couldn't be saved.
Chow and the little girl were declared dead at the scene, and Chow's wife had minor injuries.
Police say that Nieneker opened fire on Machuca in the parking lot at around 2:15 pm, and then fired shots at a Jeep as it tried to evade his gunfire.

The suspect then allegedly ran up to a Toyota 4-Runner and shot Chow, who was sitting in the front seat, before firing at the little girl in the backseat.
Chow's wife grabbed her granddaughter before they were shoved out by Neineker, who stole the car and zoomed away, cops said.
Austin Target shooting 'leaves at least three injured with suspect in custody'
Around five minutes after the shooting started, the suspect stopped beside a water truck that was parked on the side of a road and allegedly beat the driver and pulled him from the front seat.
Cops said that Nieneker tried to put the car in drive, but couldn't, so he went back to the 4-Runner and drove away.

He allegedly wrecked that car about five minutes later and then ran to a nearby Volkswagen dealership, where he carjacked another woman and left in her vehicle.
Less than ten minutes after this, Nieneker tried to get into a Waymo self-driving car, but that didn't work, so he got back on the road.

A few minutes later, a friend who knew the suspect told cops that Neineker threw a brick through his residence.
The suspect continually zoomed through the center of the city with cops on his trail before someone reported seeing a naked man in their backyard.
Officials raced to the area and found Nieneker naked on the street. When he didn't follow their directions, they tased him and put him in cuffs.
Cops later found his clothes in a nearby porta-potty.

Nieneker was booked on Tuesday and looked battered and bruised in a mugshot taken by the local police department.

"On Monday, August 11, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to calls of multiple shootings at the Target parking lot at 8601 Research Boulevard northbound. Officers arrived to find a male, later identified as Hector Leopoldo Martinez Machuca, in the parking lot. Mr. Martinez Machuca was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased at 3:01 p.m. Officers also located a family including Adam Chow, his wife, and their 4-year-old granddaughter. Adam Chow and his 4-year-old granddaughter were pronounced deceased on scene. Mr. Chow's wife sustained minor injuries.
Homicides Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation showed Ethan Nieneker randomly attacked a Target employee Hector Leopoldo Martinez Machuca in the parking lot, shooting and killing him as he was collecting shopping carts. Nieneker then ran to a black Jeep Cherokee and began firing as the Jeep attempted to evade the gunfire. Nieneker then ran up to a gray Toyota 4-Runner where he shot Mr. Chow as he sat in the driver seat. He then fired into the backseat, striking the 4-year-old granddaughter. Mr. Chow's wife carried their granddaughter from the vehicle and Nieneker pushed her from the vehicle. Nieneker then drove the Toyota from the parking lot at a high rate of speed. Mr. Chow and the 4-year-old granddaughter were pronounced deceased on scene at 2:39 and 2:50 p.m.
At approximately 2:20 p.m. Nieneker found a water truck parked alongside the 7800 block of Mopac Expressway. He opened the driver's door and repeatedly assaulted the driver before pushing him out of the vehicle. He attempted to put the truck into drive but was unable to. He then jumped out of the truck and chased a male with a pistol in his hand before running back to the stolen 4-Runner and drove off.
At approximately 2:25 p.m., APD received the call of a multiple-vehicle crash as the stolen 4-Runner crashed into a Volkswagen before landing on top of an Infiniti SUV. Nieneker exited the vehicle and went over to the Volkswagen, opened the door and repeatedly assaulted the female driver of the Volkswagen. He pushed the female driver of the Volkswagen out and then drove off.
At 2:34 p.m., a suspect matching Nieneker's description exited the stolen Volkswagen and went up to a Waymo vehicle and attempted to break into it. This failed and Nieneker returned to the stolen Volkswagen and drove away.
At 2:37 p.m., an acquaintance known to Nieneker through bible study reported that Nieneker had thrown a brick through his residence in the 2100 block of La Casa Drive.
At 2:58 p.m., APD received the call of a naked male walking through a backyard in the 2400 block of La Casa Drive. Nieneker was observed running into a 'porta potty' and then leaving on foot. Officers located Nieneker walking naked on Montclaire Street. Nieneker was issued commands, did not comply, was tased and taken into custody at 3:06 p.m. Officers checked the area, and the matching suspect clothing previously captured surveillance was located inside of the "porta potty".
The investigation shows that Nieneker conducted these violent offenses of shooting at multiple victims, killing three victims, and destroying multiple vehicles, in the span of less than one hour.
Nieneker has been charged with two counts of Capital Murder for the 4-year-old granddaughter and for Adam Chow. He has also been charged for the First-Degree Felony Murder of Mr. Martinez Machuca.

DISTURBING HISTORY
Davis said that they knew Nieneker and revealed he had a history of mental health issues.
The suspect has an extensive criminal history starting in 2012 when he was arrested and convicted for misdemeanor marijuana possession, ABC affiliate KVUE reported.
In 2015, he was arrested for misdemeanor DWI, felony criminal mischief, and assaulting a family member.

The following year, Nieneker was arrested and convicted of a felony charge for assaulting his girlfriend. He was sentenced to 45 days in jail and probation for that charge.
Also in 2016, he was accused of criminal mischief, but the charge was later dismissed.
Later that year, he was arrested and convicted of a felony charge for violating a bond or protective order.
In 2017, Nieneker pleaded guilty to a DWI charge and spent 30 days in jail.

He was accused of attacking his roommate in 2019, but the case was later dismissed.
In a Facebook account that appears to belong to Nieneker, the suspect wrote about getting a job as a bartender in 2020.

That same year, he penned several posts complaining about people sharing their political opinions.
After Tuesday's shooting, Davis said, "This is a very sad day for Austin. It's a very sad day for us all."
"Our thoughts are with the families," she added.
"This is a tragic time, our thoughts are with the officers, and EMS, and fire that had to come and do the work here at the scene, forensics, everyone that's doing the scene."

Nieneker has been charged with two counts of capital murder for allegedly killing the little girl and Chow.
He was charged with first-degree murder for the death of Machuca, meaning the killing was deliberate and planned, according to cops.

Several travellers were hospitalised and six people died after unknowingly drinking contaminated alcohol in November last year - including Simone White, 28, a lawyer from Orpington in South East London. The 23-year-old was left permanently blind after ingesting methanol, a chemical found in dodgy booze that turns toxic in the body. He is now speaking out about his story for the first time. Calum was with friends at the Nana Backpacker Hostel in November 2024, he told BBC Breakfast. Free whisky and vodka shots were offered to guests and Calum mixed his with soft drinks. He began to suspect something was seriously wrong the next day when he stepped off an overnight bus at the Vietnamese border. Calum realised he couldn't read any of the administrative forms in front of him. Instead, all he could see was a "kaleidoscopic blinding light". I survived Laos alcohol poisoning that killed my pal Simone White & 5 others - I felt paralysed after drinking six shots Calum told his friends about it and they initially thought he might be suffering from food poisoning. "I remember having this sort of kaleidoscopic, blinding light in my eyes and to the point at which I couldn't see anything,' he told BBC Breakfast. "[We agreed] it was strange but we thought it was food poisoning and the light I was seeing was some kind of sensitivity.' Someone should turn a light on'," Calum recalled. The lights were already on. Methanol is a type of alcohol commonly found in cleaning products, fuel and antifreeze. It's similar to ethanol, which is used for alcoholic drinks, but is more toxic to humans because it turns to formic acid when processed by the body. Even a tiny amount can mess with your system, causing vision problems, permanent damage to your central nervous system, or, in extreme cases, death. Because it is tasteless and has only a faint smell, it is impossible to tell if a drink has methanol in it. Why is methanol so deadly? By Sam Blanchard, Health Correspondent Methanol is a super-toxic version of alcohol that may be present in drinks if added by crooks to make them stronger or if they are brewed or distilled badly. The consequences can be devastating because as little as a single shot of contaminated booze could be deadly, with just 4ml of methanol potentially enough to cause blindness. Prof Oliver Jones, a chemist at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, said: 'The body converts methanol to formic acid. 'Formic acid blocks the action of an enzyme that is critical to how the body uses oxygen to generate energy. 'If it stops working, cells cannot take up or use oxygen from the blood and lack of oxygen causes problems in a range of organs as the cells start to die. 'Symptoms of methanol poisoning include vomiting, seizures and dizziness. 'The optic nerve seems to be particularly vulnerable to methanol toxicity, so there is the potential for temporary or permanent blindness, and even death. 'While thankfully rare, methanol poisoning is very serious, and treatment should be given at a hospital.' Booze can become contaminated with methanol if it is manufactured poorly. The chemical is also sometimes used in counterfeit or homemade alcohol to cut costs, which means it's most likely to show up in shady local spirits or cheap cocktails, Travel Aware says. Methanol poisoning is a known problem with cheap spirits in South East Asia where hundreds of people are poisoned each year, according to the charity Doctors Without Borders (MSF). As little as 30ml of methanol can be fatal to humans, but poisoning can be treated if caught 10 to 30 hours after consuming dodgy booze. Simone also stayed and drank at the Nana Backpacker Hostel the day after Calum left. I did really feel like, in many ways, my life wasn't worth living Calum Macdonald After waking up lethargic and nauseous, the 28-year-old was rushed to hospital by fellow travellers in a near paralytic state. Simone suffered seizures and could no longer breathe on her own, so she was placed on life support. She died in hospital nine days after consuming free vodka shots, from a bleed in her brain caused by methanol poisoning. "Part of the way that I [had] dealt with it was to bury my head in the sand," he told the BBC. "I did really feel like, in many ways, my life wasn't worth living. "[The deaths] made me realise that I was very lucky and I felt very grateful that, although I had some difficult consequences, a lot of people did have it worse. "I felt, given that I was lucky enough to survive, I have a bit of a responsibility to try and prevent the same thing from happening to other people." Calum is now learning to use a cane and hopes to apply for a guide dog soon. He is working with the families of three other British people who died following methanol poisoning in South East Asia. They are calling on the Foreign Office to be clearer about the dangers people face when booking holidays in countries where methanol poisoning is a concern. The Foreign Office described methanol poisoning and counterfeit alcohol as a "serious problem in some parts of the world" and said it was working with local authorities and the travel industry to tackle the issue. "We seek to make clear the risks to British people travelling abroad and we raise awareness through our travel advice and Travel Aware campaign."

Hong Kong court begins hearing final arguments in Jimmy Lai's security trial
Mr Lai, 77, was arrested in 2020 under a national security law imposed by Beijing following anti-government protests in 2019. He is being tried on charges of colluding with foreign forces to endanger national security and conspiring with others to issue seditious publications. Mr Lai founded Apple Daily, one of the local media outlets that was most critical of Hong Kong's government. People wait to enter the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts (Chan Long Hei/AP) His high-profile case that has stretched nearly 150 days, far beyond the original estimate of 80 days, is widely seen as a trial of press freedom and a test for judicial independence in the Asian financial hub. It is unclear when a verdict will be delivered. Prosecutor Anthony Chau on Monday discussed the security law concerning the collusion charges, arguing the request to impose sanctions must also include officials and not only states. He planned to lay out other principle issues in the afternoon and make his closing statement Tuesday. Earlier, prosecutors alleged Mr Lai asked foreign countries, especially the United States, to take actions against Beijing 'under the guise of fighting for freedom and democracy'. On the first day of his testimony, Mr Lai denied he had asked then-vice president Mike Pence and then-secretary of state Mike Pompeo to take action against Hong Kong and China during the 2019 protests. When Mr Lai's lawyer questioned him about an Apple Daily report saying he had asked the US government to sanction Beijing and Hong Kong leaders, he said he must have discussed it with Mr Pompeo, as he had no reason to doubt the accuracy of the report by the now-defunct newspaper he founded. But Mr Lai said he would not have encouraged foreign sanctions after the national security law was enacted on June 30, 2020. Closing arguments have been delayed twice, first due to weather then to concerns over Mr Lai's health. On Friday, his lawyer, Robert Pang, said Mr Lai had experienced heart palpitations while in prison. The judges wanted him to secure a heart monitor and medication first. After Friday's hearing, the Hong Kong government alleged foreign media outlets had attempted to mislead the public about Mr Lai's medical care. It said a medical examination of Mr Lai found no abnormalities and that the medical care he received in custody was adequate. When Mr Lai entered the courtroom, he waved and smiled to those sitting in the public gallery and briefly instructed his legal team in a voice audible to public attendees. He closed his eyes at times when the prosecution laid out its legal arguments. The heart monitor was delivered to Mr Lai and he had no complaints about his health, Mr Chau said. Mr Lai's years-long detention in solidarity confinement has drawn concerns from foreign governments and rights groups. US president Donald Trump, before being elected to his second term in November, said he would talk to Chinese leader Xi Jinping to seek Mr Lai's release: 'I will get him out.' In a Fox News radio interview in August, Mr Trump denied saying he would save Mr Lai, but rather that he would bring the issue up. 'I've already brought it up, and I'm going to do everything I can to save him,' he said. China has accused Mr Lai of stirring a rise in anti-China sentiments in Hong Kong and said it firmly opposes the interference of other countries in its internal affairs. Dozens of people waited in the rain on Monday for a seat in the main courtroom to see Mr Lai. Former Apple Daily reader Susan Li said she worried about Mr Lai's health as he looked visibly thinner and she would continue to pray for him. 'I wanted to let him know we are still here,' she said. When Hong Kong, a former British colony, returned to China in 1997, Beijing promised to retain the city's civil liberties for 50 years. But critics say the promise has become threadbare after the introduction of the security law, which Chinese and Hong Kong authorities insist was necessary for the city's stability.
