The Miami Dolphins are making headlines with a bold financial commitment to wide receiver Tyreek Hill, locking in $29 million as part of a lucrative contract restructure. This high-stakes decision underscores the franchise's belief in Hill's long-term value, even as the star receiver faces personal and professional challenges.
Dolphins bet big on Tyreek Hill despite dip and drama
Tyreek Hill, known for his electrifying speed and game-changing plays, saw a dip in his 2024 performance, posting career-low stats in receptions and yardage. Despite missing the playoffs, Miami is doubling down on their faith in the 'Cheetah,' guaranteeing him $65 million over the next three seasons and solidifying a $90 million package through 2026. This move gives Hill the most fully guaranteed money ever earned by an NFL wide receiver without extending the contract—a landmark financial commitment in the league.
However, this decision comes on the heels of a turbulent offseason. Hill's personal life made tabloid waves after his wife, Keeta Vaccaro, filed for divorce following an alleged domestic incident. Although no legal charges emerged, the episode cast a shadow over Hill's public image.
From a team-building perspective, the Dolphins' restructuring creates cap flexibility while also betting on Hill's leadership and bounce-back potential.

It's a message to the league, Miami isn't panicking they're investing in their core, even amid controversy.
Trade buzz grows as Dolphins weigh financial fallout in Tyreek Hill saga
Still, trade speculation lingers. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the possibility of moving on from Hill isn't off the table. 'That could change in a couple of days. Given the realities of Hill's contract (re-done in 2024), it makes sense for the Dolphins to hold Hill until June 2 or later. That's when the cap consequences can be spread over two years.'
'For now, Hill has $28.296 million in unallocated bonus money that will hit the cap. A pre-June 1 trade means all of it lands in 2025. A post-June 1 trade limits the 2025 dead money to $12.728 million, with the remaining $15.568 million landing on the cap in 2026,' he wrote.

This financial breakdown suggests Miami may be strategically waiting for the post-June 1 window, where a potential trade would be significantly less damaging to their salary cap. As the 2025 season looms, this $29 million gamble could either reestablish Hill as the league's most feared wideout or mark the beginning of a calculated exit from South Florida.

Crucial works gather pace to make 4 lanes on Hadapsar-Dive Ghat highway in Pune

Pune: Works to make four lanes on the Hadapsar to Dive Ghat road, part of the Palkhi Marg project, have gathered pace. The road widening activity is crucial since not only will it cater to traffic towards prominent towns like Jejuri and Pandharpur, but ease access from Pune city to the proposed Purandar airport — located ahead of Saswad. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has undertaken construction of bridges across the entire 14km-long Dive Ghat stretch which is being widened. The existing two-lane road from Hadapsar to Saswad has been insufficient to handle increasing traffic, especially in the ghat section. Frequent commuters have complained of severe traffic congestion due to the narrow carriageway. Increase in traffic along the stretch is anticipated in the coming years, especially since the state govt is standing firm on its decision to build the airport ahead of Saswad in the Purandar area. Commuters said the stretch from Hadapsar to Saswad has remained neglected over the last many years, despite the heavy traffic. The road was considered for widening only recently and gained importance since it will be the main access road to the proposed airport in Purandar. They said work must be completed at the earliest without unnecessary delays. Local resident Vishal Raskar said widening of the ghat section and the stretch to Hadapsar will reduce travel time considerably. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 180k traders trust IC Markets for CFD trading | Sign up today IC Markets Learn More Undo While the local traffic police department has introduced small diversions to manage the traffic, the NHAI has been carrying out controlled blasting in the ghat section to make space to add two more lanes to the existing carriageway. The ghat has the hill on one side and a gorge on the other. Officials said barricades are installed at all locations where blasting and widening are underway. Traffic is suspended for the period when the blasting, usually planned in the afternoon, takes place since the traffic flow is comparatively less. Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari flagged off the road widening last year. In Dec 2023, the Centre sanctioned a fund of Rs793 crore for the plan. Meanwhile, the Palkhi Marg project has reached the last stage of construction work. Box: Clear encroachment to avoid traffic snarls: Local residents Local residents of areas like Hadapsar, Bhekrainagar, Phursungi, Uruli Devachi and Wadaki, which are located along the Hadapsar-Dive Ghat road, said the administration should clear encroachments along with the widening work. Mahesh Bhadale, a local resident, said there are chronic congestion spots — such as Bhekrainagar, Phursungi and Mantarwadi junction — where the administration should construct flyovers. The work should be included in the ongoing road widening of Palkhi Marg.

Lloyds' Surjagarh mine set to be the first ‘green mine' of India

Gadchiroli: The Surjagarh iron ore mine (SIOM) of Lloyds Metals and Energy Ltd (LMEL) in Maharashra's Gadchiroli district is set to become the first 'green mine' in India, thanks to environment-friendly initiatives and strong focus on reducing carbon footprint in mining operations. SIOM has already achieved an annual reduction of 32,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions, said top company sources. Once the company transitions to renewable energy, this saving is likely to increase to around 50,000 tonnes annually through innovation, green technology in mining operations from drilling to dispatch. LMEL's decarbonisation of Surjagarh mine encompasses every aspect of mining operations, from drilling and loading to hauling and logistics. "Our core philosophy revolves around adopting green technology, improving efficiency, fostering innovation, and engaging employees and the local community in pursuit of 'green steel' production. This aligns perfectly with India's 'Net Zero' commitment. We are committed to the global goal of securing a 'green future for all' while striking a balance between development and sustainability," said B Prabhakaran, managing director of LMEL. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo After decarbonising operations, LMEL is focussing on green logistics in Gadchiroli district, which is an emerging steel manufacturing hub. It has reduced carbon footprint in iron ore transportation by introducing an 87km-long slurry pipeline from the grinding plant at Hedri to the pellet plant at Konsari. The laying and testing of the pipeline from the grinding plant at Surjagarh iron ore mines to Konsari has been completed. The slurry pipeline represents green logistics adopted by LMEL in its commitment to environment, sustainability, and responsible industrial operations. "The commissioning of the slurry pipeline marks the first such project in India after 11 years. This will be the fourth operational iron ore slurry pipeline in the nation and a first in Maharashtra," said Prabhakaran. The pipeline has a dual advantage -- lower freight cost and reduced carbon footprint. Under LMEL's 'Mission Green' initiative, inspired by the vision of producing 'green steel', over 3 lakh trees have been planted at various locations, and thousands of saplings have been distributed to people. In line with forest clearance conditions, LMEL allocated 377.58 hectares of private land in Arvi and Karanja talukas of Wardha district for compensatory afforestation, in lieu of 374.90 hectares diverted for Surjagarh iron ore mine. LMEL deposited Rs 2.49 crore with the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority and 3lakh native saplings were planted by the State Forest Department in Arvi taluka. Also, Surjagarh is poised to become the largest green fleet mining operation in the country, with its own electric vehicle charging station, said a top company official. Building upon the success in non-fossil fuel operations at its Surjagarh Iron Ore Mine, LMEL is now focusing on Banded Hematite Quartzite, which was historically considered a waste in iron ore mining. The initiative will transform waste into a valuable resource, thus contributing to national waste reduction and wealth creation.

From Kolkata derby match to RCB's IPL win: After 45 years, India witnesses another sport related tragedy

Nearly 45 years apart, two tragic days, August 16, 1980 in Kolkata and June 4, 2025 in Bengaluru, serve as grim reminders of how the unifying joy of sport can turn into unimaginable disaster. Back in 1980, the iconic Kolkata derby between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal at Eden Gardens (before the Salt Lake Stadium era) descended into chaos as violent clashes between rival supporters claimed 16 young lives. On Wednesday, what was meant to be a historic celebration, Royal Challengers Bengaluru's first IPL title in 18 years, ended in heartbreak. As over a lakh fans gathered to catch a glimpse of their heroes, especially Virat Kohli, the victory parade turned deadly, with at least 11 fans losing their lives in a stampede. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Do You Remember Her? You Better Sit Down Before You See Her Today Learn More Undo It was Eden Garden in 1980 and Garden City on Wednesday, that witnessed tragedy. And both could have been avoided. On that fateful August afternoon at the Eden Gardens, more than 70,000 spectators had thronged the galleries and Mohun Bagan's speedy right winger Bidesh Basu was felled by East Bengal's side back Dilip Palit, who was notorious for his rough tackling. Live Events According to the reports of that time, the referee of that match, late Sudhin Chatterjee did not have control on the proceedings and once Bidesh and Dilip got into fisticuffs, the tension percolated in the stands. Stone pelting broke out between supporters of both teams, and the Kolkata Police failed to anticipate the stampede-like situation that followed. As panic gripped the crowd, chaos ensued, with people running in all directions, desperate to escape. A haunting black-and-white image from that day still lingers — fans clinging to the second tier of Eden Gardens, trying to avoid being trampled. Sixteen spectators, aged between 18 and 60, who had stepped out with joy and excitement to witness the derby, returned lifeless — their bodies brought back in matadors, as there were no hearse vans back then. Today, the day is observed as 'Football Lovers' Day' in Kolkata. But on that fateful afternoon, law and order had collapsed, and the 'City of Joy' had nothing joyful left to offer. On December 9, 2012, a similar kind of tragedy could have happened as things got out of hand during a Kolkata Derby with Mohun Bagan's Rahim Nabi being hit on forehead by a stone from the opposition team's stand. But the sight was East Bengal defender Arnab Mondal escorting the Mohun Bagan star to safety. However, the match was abandoned and there was free for all on the streets of Eastern Metropolitan Bypass with as many as 40 people injured in clashes. There were policemen who were also injured in the scuffle with supporters of both sides. There were two incidents back in 1969 during Australia's Test series in India in Kolkata (Eden Gardens) and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The incident in Mumbai was after a debatable decision that saw the back of S Venkataraghavan. The spectators who were listening to All India Radio commentary were infuriated and wreaked havoc. There was fire in the stands but fortunately no deaths. The stampede like situation at Eden Gardens had more to do with erstwhile corrupt officials of Cricket Association of Bengal, who had printed fake tickets above capacity and there were at least 20,000 people more. The grapevine was that some of the CAB officials hid under their tables when police were trying to evacuate the spectators. There was no live match but star struck youth wanting to get a glimpse of Virat Kohli led to this unmitigated and irreparable loss. Eleven lives lost and it could be more. When these youngsters (including children) gathered at MG Road, Brigade Road, Cubbon Park or Vidhan Souda, it was all about passion and excitement to meet their heroes but the 11 set of parents will have to live with this tragedy that could have been avoided. Other major spectator deaths during sporting events: Hillsborough Disaster (1989): A stampede at the Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield, England, resulted in 97 deaths and hundreds of injuries during an FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. It is still one of the worst of all crowd death incidents related to sports. Heysel Stadium Disaster (1985): A stadium wall collapsed at the Heysel Stadium in Brussels, leading to the deaths of 39 supporters during the European Cup final between Liverpool and Juventus. Lima Stadium Riots (1964): In terms of death toll, this is the biggest sporting crowd tragedy in the last 60 years. It was an Olympic Qualifier between Argentina and Peru. There were riots leading to more than 300 people getting killed and nearly 1000 injured. Luzhniki Stadium Crush (1982): It was a UEFA Cup match between Spartak Moscow and Haarlem FC and 66 fans died, mostly teenagers making it the biggest sporting tragedy in Russian history. Houphouet-Boigny Stampede (2009): 19 fans died and 135 seriously injured in a stampede during a World Cup qualifier between Ivory Coast and Malawi in Abidjan.
