Sophie's parents - Dennis and Linda - built their shop through decades of change, serving their neighbours with trust and consistency for 41 years. As well as being the subject of her own micro-documentary, Sophie's face will be proudly on display on Out of Home advertisement spots across Edinburgh, signifying the importance of corner shops and their owners to their local communities, as Coca-Cola celebrates 125 years of its products being sold in Great Britain, hand-in-hand with local retailers. Now their daughter Sophie, an experienced theatrical performer, is bringing fresh energy to the store – from viral TikTok videos to online delivery apps for a new generation of customers. With Sophie at the helm, she is driven to continue the family legacy – and to show how heritage and innovation can thrive side by side. ophie features in a six-part photography and mini docu-series that follows the stories of local corner shop bosses from across Great Britain Sophie's role as a Coca-Cola Boss and the content series Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Sophie and her family have been immortalised by talented Gen Z photographer Serena Brown, known for her work on bringing the stories of real people to the front of her camera lens. Sophie said: 'For 41 years, Premier Broadway has been more than a store; it's been a cornerstone of our family and community. Our passion goes beyond transaction, embodying a belief that the shop does not just belong to us – but to everyone it serves. 'As we join Coca-Cola's latest campaign, we are reminded of the dedication my parents have shown since 1983, and the legacy we continue to build in Edinburgh. 'The Bosses' series is an ode to that, celebrating the businessmen and women ushering in a new era for the vastly underestimated corner shop. "We'll continue to champion and mentor community retailers far into the future, and hope they continue to find a sense of camaraderie through our network.'

DWP free benefits calculator helps nearly 1million people get cash they were owed
The number of people who found they were entitled to cash they hadn't even known existed has been revealed, and the sum of money they were missing out on Almost one million Brits have discovered they were missing out on vital Government payments – a huge £9.6 billion in unclaimed benefits over the last year. Charity Turn2Us says around 900,000 people used its free benefits calculator to uncover cash they didn't even know existed. Universal Credit, Carer's Allowance, and new-style Jobseeker's Allowance were among the payments finally claimed. Anna Stevenson, benefits expert at Turn2Us, warned: 'Our data shows that there is support available for many, but all too often it's difficult to find. "The Turn2us Benefits Calculator cuts through the confusion. It's fast, free and completely anonymous. Just a few minutes could help you uncover extra cash you didn't even know you could claim. We know it's tough right now, especially with back-to-school costs stacking up and household bills climbing; don't wait until things get harder – check now and ease the pressure on your family.' Of 1.5 million users last year, 60% found they were eligible for payments they hadn't claimed. That included £588 million in Carer's Allowance for 185,000 carers and £636 million in new-style Jobseeker's Allowance for 135,000 people. Some people are even getting backdated payments. Single mum Esther, one of the calculator's users, said: 'It's important to know that with certain benefits, those payments can be backdated. While my missing child benefit was backdated by three months, my carer's element of universal credit was backdated, which really helped.' With bills soaring and families struggling this summer, Turn2Us urges people to check their entitlement now. A few minutes could unlock cash you didn't know you had coming. To check your benefit entitlements quickly and confidentially, visit the Turn2us Benefits Calculator here. A DWP spokesperson said: 'Millions of people rely on our welfare system every year and it is vital that it can be accessed by all who need it. We promote benefits through public communications campaigns and provide funding for the free Help to Claim service provided by Citizens Advice to support people to make a claim. 'Alongside this, we are fixing the broken welfare system we inherited so it genuinely supports those who can work into employment, while ensuring there is always a safety net for the most vulnerable.'

Energy bills set to rise to £1,737 in October hitting millions of households, say experts
Typical household energy bill is expected to rise by £17 to £1,737 per year under new price cap BILL BLOW Energy bills set to rise to £1,737 in October hitting millions of households, say experts Household energy bills are set to rise to £1,737 in October for millions of households, according to new forecasts. The typical household energy bill is expected to rise by £17, or 1%, per year when regulator Ofgem's new price cap comes into force, experts at Cornwall Insight have predicted. 1 Energy bills are set to rise from October under the price cap, according to experts Cornwall Insight Credit: PA Ofgem, which sets the limit on what energy companies can charge customers, is set to confirm its latest price cap on August 27. Cornwall Insight's latest prediction is a turnaround from its previous forecast in July that bills would drop by 1% from the current £1,720 in October due to easing Middle East tensions. Cornwall said its forecast reflected changes its assumed Ofgem would be introducing in the upcoming cap period, including the expansion of the Warm Home Discount scheme for vulnerable households that would add around £15 to a typical bill, while also providing £150 in support to 2.7 million additional people. However it also noted that wholesale prices for electricity and gas had been 'volatile', largely reflecting geopolitical factors including uncertainty over US trade policy. Cornwall said it expected a small drop in the price cap in January, but this was dependent on geopolitical movement, weather patterns, changes to policy costs and the potential introduction of costs such as those to support investment in new nuclear generating capacity. Dr Craig Lowrey, principal consultant at Cornwall Insight, said: 'News of higher bills will not be welcomed by households, especially as winter approaches. 'While the added costs behind this forecasted rise are aimed at supporting those most in need, it does mean typical bills will increase despite relatively lower wholesale costs. It's a reminder that the price cap reflects more than just the market price of energy. 'This immediate challenge underscores a broader uncertainty facing millions of households, with current forecasts suggesting a sharp drop in bills is unlikely in the near term. 'Longer term, Ofgem's review of how Britain's energy system costs are distributed could reshape the financial burden on consumers, but while some may see savings, others could face higher charges. 'The real hope for lasting relief lies in the longer-term transition towards clean power and energy independence, which offers the greatest prospect of both stability and lower costs.' New 'property tax' will PUNISH hard-working Brits and torpedo house market, blasts Kirstie Allsopp Ofgem changes the price cap for households every three months, largely based on the cost of energy on wholesale markets. The energy price cap was introduced by the Government in January 2019 and sets a maximum price that energy suppliers can charge consumers in England, Scotland and Wales for each kilowatt hour (kWh) of energy they use. It does not limit total bills, because householders still pay for the amount of energy they consume. USwitch director of regulation Richard Neudegg said: 'A predicted 1% increase in the October price cap may not seem significant - but it brings into sharp focus that consumers need to get ready for the winter now. "Most households will use significantly more energy in the colder months, so the October cap rates will dictate the cost of keeping our homes warm as winter starts to bite for those households still on the price cap. 'Bill payers on a standard variable tariff can beat these expected rises and save on bills by switching to a well-priced fixed deal now. 'We are seeing the strongest savings in three months, around £298[1] for the average household.' Do you have a money problem that needs sorting?
