Pirates post third straight shutout against Cardinals
Keller (3-10) struck out seven, walked one and gave up five hits and helped the Pirates record their season-high sixth straight victory. Pittsburgh pitchers have held opponents scoreless for 31 consecutive innings -- their longest such streak since 2015.
After sweeping just one prior series all season, the Pirates won all six games of their homestand against the New York Mets and Cardinals. According to Pittsburgh's home broadcast, it was the first time ever that a team scored 43 or more runs and allowed only four over a six-game span.
It was also the first time the Pirates shut out the Cardinals three consecutive times since Oct. 2-3, 1976.
St. Louis has lost five of its past eight games. All five of those losses have been shutouts. The Cardinals have been held scoreless for 28 consecutive innings.
Tommy Pham and Isiah Kiner-Falefa each had two RBIs to lead the Pirates offensively and each had run-scoring singles to key a four-run bottom of the seventh inning, which broke the game open.
Pham, who also drove in the game's first run in the bottom of the second on an RBI single, drove in Nick Gonzales with a one-out single off Cardinals starter Sonny Gray (8-3) in the seventh. Ke'Bryan Hayes singled on the previous at-bat to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.
Hayes then scored, along with Pham, on Kiner-Falefa's single.
Gray, who threw a one-hitter in his prior start, allowed four runs on five hits and one walk while striking out six in 6 1/3 innings.
The Cardinals mustered six hits overall, including doubles by Brendan Donovan, Jose Fermin and Alec Burleson.
St. Louis loaded the bases in the first inning with two outs when Keller allowed a leadoff double to Donovan, walked Burleson two batters later and hit Lars Nootbaar two batters after that. But Keller ended the threat by striking out Thomas Saggese.

Jonah Heim lined a double to the right field corner that scored Wyatt Langford, who walked, and Higashioka drove in Heim with a single to left. Luis Castillo, two relievers combine for 2-hitter as M's blank Pirates
July 6 - Luis Castillo pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out a season-high eight batters as the Seattle Mariners defeated the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates 1-0 on Saturday evening. It was the second consecutive shutout for the Mariners, who improved to 4-2 on their seven-game homestand. The Pirates have lost two straight after a six-game winning streak. The Mariners broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning off reliever Caleb Ferguson (2-1). Jorge Polanco led off with a double down the left-field line and took third on Luke Raley's groundout to the right side of the infield. Ferguson then got pinch-hitter Donovan Solano to ground out to drawn-in third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes, keeping Polanco at third, before rookie Ben Williamson hit an RBI double into the gap in right-center. After Cole Young was hit by a pitch and J.P. Crawford walked to load the bases, Isaac Mattson replaced Ferguson and struck out Julio Rodriguez to end the inning. Lenyn Sosa's big night powers White Sox over Rockies
July 6 - Lenyn Sosa homered, finished a triple shy of the cycle and drove in four runs, Michael A. Taylor also went deep and doubled and the Chicago White Sox beat the Colorado Rockies 10-3 in Denver on Saturday night. Highly touted prospect Colson Montgomery had three hits, including his first in the majors after debuting Friday. Mike Tauchman also had three hits and Brooks Baldwin contributed two hits for Chicago. White Sox starter Jonathan Cannon (3-7) allowed two runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings to earn his first victory since May 2. There was a moment of silence before the game for former White Sox pitcher Bobby Jenks, who passed away Friday. Brenton Doyle homered, Tyler Freeman had three hits to extend his on-base streak to 20 games and Yanquiel Fernandez had two hits for Colorado. German Marquez (3-10) allowed six runs on 11 hits in six innings. Both teams jumped on the starters in the first inning. Sosa and Baldwin doubled around a flyout, then Montgomery tripled to right-center field for his first career hit and RBI, giving Chicago a 2-0 lead. The Rockies responded in the bottom of the frame.
