Joey Bada$$ reveals Jay-Z once wanted to manage him
Brooklyn rapper and actor Joey Bada$$ recently opened up about a pivotal moment early in his career — a potential management deal with hip-hop legend Jay-Z.
In a new interview with Red Bull published on May 13, 2025, Joey revealed that Jay-Z wanted to manage him through Roc Nation back in 2010, but the opportunity fell through due to miscommunication.
'It was a chain of communication that I didn't have any part in,' said Joey. 'Jay is my favorite rapper, even to this day, and within a year of being in the game, he wanted to sign me. But he didn't want to sign me as an artist, he wanted to manage me.' Joey expressed lingering doubts that a former manager may have botched the opportunity.
Joey also discussed his role as Unique on Power Book III: Raising Kanan, executive produced by 50 Cent. He praised 50's strategic thinking and intelligence. 'He's much smarter than people may think,' Joey said. 'His mind is very interesting and very multidimensional.'
The rapper-turned-actor says the transformation into his character begins the moment he puts on Unique's vintage '90s wardrobe. 'As soon as I land on set and I put them clothes on, it's just time,' he added.
Joey Bada$$ continues to build his legacy in both music and acting, with fans eager to see what comes next.

"Rest in Peach'": Lipton stirs up rage with "discontinued" Peach Ice Tea prank
Lipton's recent marketing stunt has left fans of their Peach Iced Tea fuming. On Tuesday night, the beverage brand shocked iced tea lovers by announcing on social media that they were discontinuing the fan-favourite Peach flavour. The post, titled 'Rest In Peach,' left many devoted drinkers devastated. 'You may have heard that our iconic Peach Lipton Ice Tea flavour is getting discontinued,' the brand's initial post read. 'We know – it hurts (sorry if we've ruined your go-to afternoon chill bev). But don't worry, the rest of your faves are still here to keep you refreshed.' The message continued, 'And who knows? Maybe one day, Peach will make a legendary comeback.' They even used the hashtag '#RIPeach,' which sent shockwaves through the iced tea community. Naturally, regular drinkers and fan of the popular beverage were left confused as the company provided little to no explanation for the discontinuation. "How tf does a company discontinue arguably it's best seller," a puzzled user commented. Rival beveraged brand, Red Bull chimed in on the fun and commented, "If anyone needs a Peach fix, we've got you." However, less than 24 hours later, Lipton revealed the shocking news was nothing but an early April Fools' Day prank. On Wednesday morning, the brand posted an update saying, 'Oops, is it still March? Got my dates mixed up… thought it was April Fools already! I'd never take away your favourite flavour, pookies.' Lipton added, 'Your love of peach has not gone unnoticed. But I've got your back, I will be sending a surprise to the biggest fans with the best reactions,' complete with a winky face emoji. Despite the lighthearted tone, the prank didn't go over well with fans. Many flooded the comments section of the second post to express their frustration and disappointment. One user even wrote, 'Can we not with this new marketing strategy, it's annoying.' While Lipton intended to be playful, the early April Fools' joke left many feeling more tricked than entertained. "Don't call me pookie after this stunt." It remains unclear why Lipton decided to pull the prank ahead of April Fools' Day, but what's certain is that the stunt hasn't left a sweet taste in the mouths of many Peach Iced Tea fans.

Singer Jay-Z sues over withdrawn rape suit
Jay-Z has taken legal action against an anonymous woman who previously accused him of sexual assault before withdrawing her lawsuit, Guardian reported. The rapper alleges that Jane Doe and her attorneys knowingly pursued a fabricated case against him. The lawsuit, filed in Alabama - where the woman resides - also names her lawyers, Tony Buzbee and David Fortney. Jay-Z, legally known as Shawn Carter, asserts that Jane Doe admitted to his representatives that her accusations were untrue. The woman had initially claimed that both Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs assaulted her when she was 13 at a 2000 MTV Video Music Awards afterparty. According to the legal filing, Jay-Z's attorneys state that the woman "voluntarily admitted directly to representatives of Mr Carter that the story brought before the world in court and on global television was just that: a false, malicious story." His legal team argues that the now-retracted allegations have severely damaged Jay-Z's reputation and cost his company, Roc Nation, more than $20 million. In an NBC News interview, Jane Doe acknowledged that she had "made some mistakes" in her claims. She had previously stated that her father picked her up following the alleged assault, though he had no memory of doing so. Additionally, she said she had spoken with a musician at the afterparty, but records show that the artist was on tour in a different location at the time. Buzbee dismissed the lawsuit, calling it meritless. "This is just another attempt to intimidate and bully this poor woman that we will deal with in due course. We won't be bullied or intimidated by frivolous cases," he said. He further alleged that statements attributed to Jane Doe in the lawsuit were "completely made up, or they spoke to someone who isn't Jane Doe."
