Zharnel Hughes speaks out over unpaid Grand Slam Track prize money
Britain's fastest man Zharnel Hughes is waiting for $130,000 in prize money from Grand Slam Track, which scrapped its final meet of the season over financial struggles Zharnel Hughes has warned athletes could take a wide berth of Grand Slam Track next year after admitting he is among those still waiting for prize money. Michael Johnson's breakaway competition was billed as transformative when it kicked off in Apri l by offering track stars the potential to earn unprecedented prize money. But after its fourth fixture in LA was scrapped for financial reasons, a host of athletes are still waiting to be paid. Athletes were promised top prizes of $100,000 - with Brits Matt Hudson-Smith, in Jamaica and Philadelphia, and Josh Kerr, in Miami, landing first-place finishes. World Athletics president Sebastian Coe had admitted 'this is not a good situation' with the governing body monitoring the situation. Grand Slam have not commented but a number of agents have been given assurances that prize money will be sent by late September. And Hughes, who won $130,000 across three weekends, says he is among those left in limbo - though he has received appearance fees from the US-based league. 'We haven't got any payment yet,' Britain's fastest man said. 'My agent has been in contact with them. It's not like I'm studying what's going on but I know I've not received funds yet. 'I think the appearance fees have come through but in regards to the actual racing it hasn't come through yet. I'm just looking to see if we get paid by August or September, hopefully it's in the accounts by then. 'I think people enjoyed it but obviously now the payments have been delayed and they fell short by not having the last one people may be more hesitant to try out next season. We have to see how it goes next season.' Hughes added 'it kind of sucked' that Grand Slam did not bring one of their fixtures to the UK or Europe. Ticket sales for three events that went ahead fell well below expectations. 'Hopefully they can sort themselves out and if they do go again next season they can get some races in Europe,' Hughes said. 'You won't be worrying about having to fill up the stadiums.' Ryanair is banning paper boarding passes. Here's everything you need to know
Soon, the days of tucking your boarding pass into your passport will be a distant memory. As more airlines move towards digital boarding passes – including Ryanair, which will ban paper boarding passes from November 2025 – those once-essential tickets are quickly being replaced by apps and digital downloads on your smartphone. But what if you don't have a smartphone, or run out of battery while airside? How do the rules vary between airlines? And which airports refuse to move with the times? As printed passes become passé, here's everything you need to know. In this guide: Which countries require a printed boarding pass? Do I need to print my boarding pass? How do I get a digital boarding pass? Boarding pass rules: Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2, British Airways and more What is a boarding pass? Quite simply, it's your flight ticket – but it holds a surprising amount of information, says Dan Murphy, head of aviation at Flight Centre UK. That little pass includes: 'your full name, date of travel, flight number, origin, destination, booking reference, ticket number, seat number, time of departure, boarding time, boarding group and frequent flyer number and status.' Do all destinations accept digital boarding passes? No – a few still require printed boarding passes for departures, and refuse to accept digital ones. For example, all airports in Morocco require print-outs, including Marrakech and Casablanca. Turkey also demands the old-fashioned way, though it makes an exception for departures from Dalaman. In Albania, you'll need a paper pass to fly from Tirana. You'll either be notified by your airline if a printed boarding pass is required, or simply be unable to download one when checking in online. When you arrive at departures, just go to the check-in desk to collect your paperwork. You won't be charged: all airlines we quizzed said that when flying from the above airports, paper boarding passes will be free of charge – even on Ryanair, after it switches to digital boarding passes from November.

AI clones of Miss England contestants enter pageant competition with eerie ‘digital twins'
AN EERIE new AI round for the Miss England pageant has been introduced with "digital twins" of real-life contestants. Hopefuls can now walk down a virtual catwalk and wear just about anything their heart desires all thanks to the power of AI. 5 5 The so-called "Miss England Avatar Round" give beauty queens the chance to step into the world of AI technology. Organisers behind the famed contest believe it's the first beauty pageant in the world to introduce such a round. Over the course of two-hours, each participant can develop a fully-animated digital clone of themselves, capable of delivering presentations and making virtual appearances. Afton McKeith, daughter of I'm A Celeb star Gillian McKeith, was the first Miss England semi finalist to complete the filming process this week. A sample video shows her virtual clone interacting, wearing an array of outfits and even speaking in different languages. "This is not actually me, I am Afton's digital twin," the avatar says. "I have no human needs, no sleep, no stress, no make-up disasters. "Just pure calculated perfection. "Very soon digital twins won't be a novelty, they will be attending meetings, handling interviews and running entire lives. "Lets face it, wouldn't you rather send your avatar to your 9am meeting if you could?" mum's an I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! legend. But Afton's more likely to be found backstage at a pageant than in the jungle Miss England has got tech firm MirrorMe on board to make the new round possible. Contestants need to record voiceovers and movements to bring their avatars to life, allowing them to explore how they might represent themselves in future digital interviews, business pitches, or public speaking engagements - with the ability to speak more than 140 languages too. The Miss England business avatar round will be one of ten rounds in the next Miss England semi final that contestants can opt to enter. A winner will be judged on the highest combined views for their AI video presentations on the MirrorMe website, Vimeo and YouTube. The real Afton, 25, said: "It's such an exciting honour to be the first Miss England contestant to experience the Avatar Round. "This initiative is a brilliant way to encourage more young women to step into the world of business and technology. "A digital twin can be a powerful asset as it allows you to create content that can be reused, save time on filming and even license your likeness to companies for campaigns or educational tools. "It's about working smarter and exploring new ways to build your brand, create income and stay present even when you're not physically available." Angie Beasley, who has run the Miss England competition for 23 years, added: 'Miss England has always been about more than just looks. "With the rise of remote working, AI and virtual platforms, I felt it was time to reflect the world our contestants are stepping into. "This round is about confidence, presence and impact — whether you're in the room or on a screen. "It's an empowering way to bridge beauty, brains and modern tech. "This innovative new round opens the door for contestants to embrace technology in a whole new way, highlighting their adaptability, creativity, and communication skills in the digital space." 5 5
