Broad Haven in Pembrokeshire a rising UK staycation hot spot
A UK staycation provider has revealed that lesser-known market towns and coastal spots are attracting more visitors in 2025. The trend comes as the UK sees a rise in demand for domestic getaways, with searches for "last minute holidays UK" up by 70 per cent in the last 30 days. Matthew Fox, CEO of Independent Cottages, said: "Summer staycation interest has continued to grow over recent years, particularly with families looking to make the most of the holidays, and what's interesting is where people are choosing to go. "We're seeing an interesting shift towards quaint, historic market towns rather than the usual tourist hotspots. "Cumbria, in particular, is having a moment. Not just the well-known places, but smaller charming towns that offer all the beauty the region has to offer, but without the crowds. "It's brilliant to see people discovering these gems that have so much character and history to offer." The UK self-catering accommodation provider analysed 12 months of enquiry data to identify the fastest-growing UK destinations for summer breaks. The top five rising destinations are Cockermouth in Cumbria, Broad Haven in Pembrokeshire, Sheepscombe in Gloucestershire, Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria, and Leek in Staffordshire. Broad Haven, a seaside village on the Pembrokeshire coast, has seen a 115 per cent year-on-year increase in interest. The village is known for its Blue Flag beach, colourful Georgian buildings, and coastal walks along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Other attractions include a SEA LIFE centre and a high street filled with independent shops. The new trend comes after the UK recorded its warmest and sunniest spring on record. This "toasty" start to summer has encouraged more people to explore holiday options closer to home, choosing quieter countryside and coastal escapes over traditional hotspots.

They retained the title as Scotland's best brewery at the annual international competition, which is judged by global beer experts. Innis & Gunn also claimed gold in the Wood Aged category for their Original beer. Lager Beer maintained its crown in the Classic Pilsener category. Both beers were also named Country Winners for Scotland, reports the Daily Record. Lager Beer, crafted with naked golden oats and zesty aromatic hops, is praised for its crisp, refreshing flavour and continues to outperform major international brands in blind tastings. The Original, first launched in 2003, remains the beer that put Innis & Gunn on the map. Matured in hand-selected single malt whisky casks, it develops a smooth, rich character with layered notes of vanilla, toffee, citrus and subtle oak, complemented by a honey-gold colour and velvety mouthfeel. Stack and Still have thanked their customers in Livingston, after closing their doors for the final time. They opened at The Centre back in the summer of 2021. The popular pancake house offered diners the chance to create their own stack, using 'nearly 12 million different combinations'. The Livingston eatery had over 250 covers, and is understood to have had over 100 staff. It's understood that the chicken chain Wing Stop will be moving in to the unit. Stack and Still shared the news on social media. They said: "We want to let you know that our Livingston restaurant has now closed.
