Melanie Scrofano Returns to Syfy to Investigate Atypical Zombies in ‘Revival' Trailer
'Wynonna Earp' star Melanie Scrofano is returning to Syfy, this time to investigate atypical zombies in 'Revival.'
In the trailer for 'Revival,' which premieres Thursday, June 12, Scrofano stars as a detective investigating what a rural Wisconsin town has dubbed 'Revival Day,' a miraculous day which saw the recently deceased suddenly rise from their graves.
'Hello, officer, I don't know what's going on,' a man emerging from a dark cemetery says to Scrofano, who looks onward at the deceased, horrified.
Meanwhile, Scrofano is dealing with her own drama at home, as her daughter returns after going missing. 'Em, no one's seen you for weeks — dad's been freaking out; the dead have come back to life,' the detective tells her daughter.
While the revived are not your typical zombies, the town quickly has their guard up, with leadership telling locals to report the whereabouts of the revived 'immediately to authorities,' and scientists discover that reviver tissue enables their cellular structure to regenerate, leading to a particularly spooky encounter for Scrofano.
Though the revived look and act the same as they were when they were alive, there's something off about them, with one pair of parents telling authorities the child who returned as their recently murdered daughter is 'not our daughter.'
'She came back wrong,' the father says.
The official logline for 'Revival' is as follows: 'On one miraculous day in rural Wisconsin, the recently deceased suddenly rise from their graves. But this is no zombie story as the 'revived' appear and act just like they once were. When local officer and single mother Dana Cypress is unexpectedly thrown into the center of a brutal murder mystery of her own, she's left to make sense of the chaos amidst a town gripped by fear and confusion where everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect.'

To their horror, they find themselves locked in while a "Saw"-esque broadcast explains that they must compete in "The Blackening," a trivia-based game on Black culture, if they want to survive. To make it through the night, they'll have to rely on their wits along with their deep knowledge of horror movie clichés. "The Blackening" is hilariously self-aware, poking fun at classic genre tropes while still delivering suspense and surprises. 'Love Island' Contestant Issues Apology After Being Removed From Show For Saying The N-Word
Shortly after Peacock announced the "Love Island USA" cast in late May 2025, video clips of a new islander, Yulissa Escobar, saying the N-word on a previous podcast went viral online. During the season's second episode, which aired on June 4, 2025, the "Love Island USA" narrator, Iain Stirling, announced that producers had removed Escobar from the villa, which many fans assumed was due to her past problematic statements. Now, after some time to process the news that she'd no longer be in the running for the $100,000 grand prize on the most recent season of "Love Island," Escobar released an apology, which has drawn a mixed reaction from fans. On Instagram, Escobar posted a graphic that read, "Owning my mistakes; speaking my truth." In the caption, she wrote, "First, I want to apologize for using a word I had no right in using," referring to viral clips of her using the N-word while speaking about men during a previous podcast episode. "In those clips, I used a word I never should've used, a racial slur," she wrote. "I used it ignorantly, not fully understanding the weight, history, or pain behind it." She continued, "I wasn't trying to be offensive or harmful, but I recognize now that intention doesn't excuse impact. And the impact of that word is real. It's tied to generations of trauma, and it is not mine to use." Elsewhere, in her caption, Escobar explained that when she used the word, she was "speaking casually in conversation" and wasn't thinking "deeply or critically" about how her words could impact others. "The truth is, I didn't know better then, but I do now. I've taken the time to reflect, to learn, and to grow from that moment," she added. "I've changed a lot since then, not just in how I speak, but in how I show up, how I carry myself, and how I honor the experiences of others," Escobar continued. "Growth means recognizing when you were wrong, even if it's uncomfortable, and choosing to move forward with humility and accountability." As she finished, the now-former reality star explained that she was choosing to speak for herself and did not want anyone commenting on her behalf. "I'm choosing to speak for myself because I take full ownership of my actions. Do not listen to the fake statements. This is my official statement. This is me, speaking directly to you," she wrote. On X, formerly Twitter, many "Love Island" viewers voiced their opinions about Escobar's statement, with many questioning its sincerity. "Girl, you just got kicked out of the villa," one user wrote. "How much time have you really taken to reflect on this?" "I understand why they chose to have her exit the villa, but she didn't learn anything by that," another user commented. "This apology may or may not have been genuine. Having her stay in the villa and understand the weight of the word would have either been a better lesson or shown viewers how she really feels." "Not understanding the weight, history, or pain of the word? I don't buy it," a user posted. "It doesn't take thinking 'deeply or critically' to know not to say the number one racial slur," another user shared. "This is so embarrassing." However, under Escobar's Instagram post, the 27-year-old also received support from a handful of followers. One user said, "Everybody makes mistakes," while another said, "Life is about growth and learning." "We live, we learn, and we grow!" a third commented. "This doesn't define you. Sending you warm hugs." Since Escobar's exit from the villa, "Love Island USA" producers have brought in two new cast members to turn up the heat, bringing the current lineup to 11. Alan Tudyk: Harry embraces his humanity in 'Resident Alien' S4

Photo courtesy of Syfy/USA Network NEW YORK, June 6 (UPI) -- A Knight's Tale and Firefly icon Alan Tudyk says he loved playing a dual role in Season 4 of Resident Alien because the Mantid who steals the appearance of his extraterrestrial character Harry is so deliciously wicked. "It was great. I wish I could play a third [character]," Tudyk, 54, joked with reporters in a recent Zoom round-table interview. "I liked being the Mantid. He was cool. i like getting to smoke cigarettes," he added. "I saw him as this appetite. He lands. He's there. He's a predator." Harry is a space alien who unexpectedly makes friends with humans in a small Colorado town before he can complete his mission to destroy the Earth. Harry is a genius, confirmed. USA Network (@USANetwork) June 6, 2025 Season 4, premiering Friday on Syfy and USA Network, finds the real Harry imprisoned on the moon, emotional and without his super powers, while the Mantid impersonates him and takes over his life in the Rocky Mountains. "Harry is Harry. He's a little more unsure of himself," Tudyk said. "He's open to growth. He's the alien that came to kill everybody, but he had a heart and then, this season, he definitely has a very different journey from the Mantid because he has lost his alien energy." This development brings Harry even closer to Asta (Sara Tomko), D'arcy (Alice Wetterlund) and the folksy denizens of Patience, Colo. "He's human now and, so, that opened up a whole other journey for him -- not just becoming more human and looking at these other people as: 'Oh, I like these humans. They have these great qualities and some bad qualities' -- but to actually be one and now go like, 'i'm on this side of it now,' and have to come to accept that part of himself was pretty great," Tudyk said. Show-runner Chris Sheridan said part of the fun each season is having more people discover Harry's big secret. "I don't want to give away what happens as far as knowledge this season, but I will say that anytime anyone new finds out about Harry, it adds a new dynamic to the show, which is always helpful," Sheridan said. "But you also don't want to do it too quickly because there's also energy in the secret of it and people not knowing what's going on," he added. "So, it was really a great move at the end of Season 2 to have D'arcy find out because, then, you can come into Season 3 with a whole new piece of storytelling where now D'arcy is part of it all, so adding someone else to that list carries a lot of weight." Sheridan confirmed that another character will learn Harry's true identity in Season 4. "I don't want to say who or give it up, but there's a lot of moves this season," he said. "One thing you don't want to do, especially with a couple of hundred TV shows on the air is to take your time and bore people," he added. "So, we've always been very conscious of doing big setups and big payoffs and, with every episode, trying to have a lot of stuff happen, so this season is a very good example of that." Tudyk chimed in: "That's exactly what I would have said, to the word! That's how in sync we are!" The show also stars Corey Reynolds, Elizabeth Bowen, Meredith Garretson, Levi Fiehler and Gary Farmer.
