Arizona Cardinals free agent OL Will Hernandez fully cleared after ACL surgery
The Arizona Cardinals seem to have a spot on their roster still available for offensive lineman Will Hernandez, who after three years as their starting right is an unsigned free agent. If they have been waiting for him to be healthy, that time has arrived.
Hernandez, who suffered a torn ACL last ywear in Week 5, announced via his Instagram account that he has been fullu medically cleared for football.
Football got taken away from me 9 months ago, it was the hardest thing that's ever happened to me . This has been my entire life. Many said that was it for me.
I've always been that player to talk up a big game and motivate the guys around me but for once it was my turn to practice what I preached!
IM HUNGRY being away from the game so long made me fall in love with it again ! But this time I'm not just coming back for my self but for all my people 🇲🇽 ima lead by example and show yall que SI SE PUEDE! Especially for all the LIL MIJOS that have dreams too watching me .Whatever yall going through rn use me as proof that with hard work you can make anything happen !
The Cardinals have had second-year guard Isaiah Adams playing right guard with the starting offense this offseason, but the possibility of Hernandez' return has not been ruled out.
After all, the Cardinals did not reassign No. 76, the number he wore for three seasons. And that is somewhat significant because rookie offensive lineman Hayden Conner, their sixth-round pick this year, wore No. 76 all through college at Texas.
A year ago, after they released tackle D.J. Humphries, his No. 74 was given to Adams.
Now healthy, Hernandez will have suitors. The Cardinals seem happy with Adams, but Hernandez had been their best lineman over the three seasons here.
This will be something to watch, either for the Cardinals or for Hernandez landing with another team.

Malik Nabers injury update: Giants star injures shoulder in practice
Malik Nabers is a player the New York Giants can't afford to lose and Tuesday's practice was enough to give the team a scare. The star receiver is coming off a dominant rookie season that saw him post 107 catches, 1,204 yards, and seven touchdowns in just 15 games despite spotty quarterback play. The 22-year-old is looking to build off that season with an improved roster in 2025, but now has to worry about the injury bug. On Tuesday, Nabers went down with an apparent shoulder injury, adding to an ongoing toe ailment that hasn't gotten better over time. Here is the latest on Nabers and his status going forward. Malik Nabers injury update Nabers was injured on a run play during Tuesday's practice, according to reports. The receiver grabbed at his shoulder following a run block. He remained on the ground momentarily and then walked off the field under his own power before meeting with the team's trainer, Ronnie Barnes. Head coach Brian Daboll received an update from Barnes and Nabers didn't return to practice. The second-year star is already dealing with a toe injury that he said dates back to his days in college at LSU. It's an issue that kept Nabers out of organized team activities (OTAs) earlier in the offseason. "It's like a mosquito that don't want to go away," Nabers said told Kay Adams on the "Up & Adams" show on Monday. "I'm trying to shoo it away. But I've been doing a great job with Russell (Wilson), trainers, you know, I've been using his physical therapist guys. I've been doing an excellent job of just staying on track of it and having his people, having my people, all together, trying to work on keeping me as healthy as possible. We're moving in the right direction. We're just staying on top of it so it don't give me any problems later on down the line." Now it appears he can add a shoulder ailment to the list. 6-foot-4, 310-pound Georgia freshman DL reportedly running over 20 MPH
Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive end David Pollack knows a good defensive lineman when he sees one. If Pollack highlights the talent a true freshman and former five-star recruit, then it is worth listening to. That's exactly what Pollack did when he talked about Georgia freshman defensive lineman Elijah Griffin. Pollack shared ample praise about Griffin on his podcast, "See Ball Get Ball". "Enormous, 6-foot-5, you know, 300-plus pound kid, that's an 18-year-old freshman, that continues to hit over 20 miles an hour every week on the GPS," said Pollack. Based on those numbers, Griffin would be one of the fastest players his size in both college and the NFL. In fact, only three ball carriers reached 20 miles per hour during the Super Bowl, so Griffin has an impressive combination of size and speed. For reference, Elijah Griffin is listed at 6-foot-4 and weights 310 pounds on Georgia's roster. The question is will Griffin be able to put it all together as a freshman? The five-star recruit may have to log a significant amount of snaps this fall as Georgia looks to replace seven of their top eight sack producers from last season. "I think he's a guy (Griffin) that can come in and play a bunch of snaps and and be really good," said Pollack. "Now, he's not going to go kill it. Jalen Carter-type good. Like Jalen Carter when you saw him as a freshman, like he was not refined. He wasn't Jalen Carter as a as a junior." Carter recorded 14 tackles as a freshman with Georgia in 2020. Georgia's 2020 defense was more loaded up front than what the 2025 version of the Georgia defense looks like, so we think Griffin will have a bigger role than Carter did as a freshman. Carter went on to be a first-round NFL draft pick and an NFL All-Pro and Super Bowl champion with the Philadelphia Eagles. "That dude (Griffin) is a guy that you could play and you go I'm not going to have a big drop off," added Pollack. "And when he learns to use his hands and it all starts to work, you better watch the freak out." Despite Pollack's praise for Elijah Griffin, he still has concerns about the Georgia defensive and offensive line. In fact, Pollack predicts that Georgia will go 9-3 this season. Cardinals' Calais Campbell is ready for collision at State Farm Stadium
Calais Campbell's leadership and physical strength may help motivate the Cardinals defense in 2025 Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Calais Campbell has returned to his former team looking to bring a sense of physicality back to the franchise in 2025. Campbell has been intentional in building camaraderie with teammates at training camp, particularly with fellow defensive linemen L.J Collier and Dante Stills who are coming into their own as pass rushers in the NFL. Stills and Collier were both vital to the Cardinals pass rush in 2024 accounting for eight of the 30 total team sacks on the season. The Cardinals ranked just 15th in sacks per game last year, but with the addition of Campbell, fans may see those statistics improve soon. Outside linebacker Josh Sweat will also have an impact on how the team's pass rush fares. However, as a team veteran, players will desire to be edified by the leadership of Campbell in the locker room and his resilient career has merited him this responsibility. Campbell finished the 2024 regular season with an impressive 11.5 stuffs and five pass deflections. Sure, Campbell isn't the powerhouse he once was in his prime, but turning 39 years old in September, he has shown a consistent ability to be disruptive in the A-gap by stuffing the run and yielding quarterback pressures. Campbell's impact will be study piece on film as the season progresses and will play as a reference point to assess how well the Cardinals defense does versus the run this season.
