Stephen Mulhern leaves lucrative £1,000,000 presenting gig after 3 years
Since starting his career at CITV hosting the children's TV show Finger Tips from 2001 from 2004, he's since gone on to present Britain's Got More Talent, Catchphrase, In for a Penny, Deal or No Deal and Dancing on Ice.
However earlier this year the ice skating show, which first launched in 2006, was pulled by ITV.
A few months on Stephen, 48, has confirmed he's stepping away from another major project.
Starting when he was a child, Stephen began public magic performances at 11-years-old, performing at Butlin's Minehead during family holidays. He was also a Redcoat for two years.
Over the past three years he's also returned to the seaside resort chain, performing at Minehead, Bognor Regis and Skegness.
However, after he carries out a series of sell-out shows the summer, he won't be continuing his contract.
A source previously explained: 'Stephen has been a massive hit with holidaymakers. He began his career as a Redcoat and has kept families brilliantly entertained.'
In a statement to Metro, his representatives added: 'Stephen has absolutely loved being part of the Butlins family – performing his stage shows in front of thousands of holiday makers across the country and the relationship with Butlins remains hugely positive.
'This change allows Stephen to explore new opportunities in the family holiday space – something he's incredibly passionate about.'
Stephen's final show – Out of this World – will celebrate his 25 year-career in showbiz with 'new illusions, new games, and new shenanigans'.
Speaking ahead of the shows, he spoke about his love for performing at the resort.
'The answer is simple. Butlin's gave me my very first break into the entertainment industry. I was a Redcoat in Minehead for two years and I've never looked back,' he said.
'I owe a lot to Butlin's and that's why I love coming back and performing here.'
In the past year, Stephen has faced the axing of two of his programmes – Dancing on Ice and In for a Penny.
However, he will soon be back with new seasons of Catchphrase, Deal or No Deal, You Bet and the travel show, The Accidental Tourist.
That series will see him pushed out of his comfort zone, travelling Asia under the guidance of Ant and Dec.
Speaking about the upcoming release to the Daily Mirror, Stephen explained how difficult the experience was at times.
'No one's ever seen me cry on the telly, but it was quite nice to not be behind a format, I've never done that. You're going to see behind the razzle-dazzle if you like'.
'They film and they film, and they film and they just get everything. I think what you're going to see is a lot of emotion. You'll see me totally out of my comfort zone. More Trending
'My dad had just passed away, so that's the only thing. I'm gutted that he didn't see it,' he added.
After his father Christopher died in November, one of the presenters' spokespeople explained how Stephen had been facing 'an incredibly tough time over the past few weeks'.
Not long after he was rushed to hospital after collapsing in a Pizza Express, but fans were reassured he was 'recovering' soon after.

Gemma Collins' plans for 'mystical' wedding on hold again as she makes blunt admission
EXCLUSIVE: Gemma Collins' plan for 'mystical' wedding to her fiancé Rami Hawash are on hold as she makes blunt admission - and spills the beans on her life as a stepmum She's the reality TV star who doesn't hold back, and now Gemma Collins has spilled all on her future wedding plans (involving a certain pair of Irish twins), her weight loss journey and a summer spent on stepmum duties. A proud oversharer, the TOWIE icon is in the midst of preparing for her big day, but things aren't quite following the schedule. So much so, Gemma admitted to us she is even considering leaving it all to the last minute. Her excitement at walking down the aisle hasn't dwindled four years since her second engagement to fiancé Rami Hawash, who she met in 2011. As she opens up on her rather unusual wedding theme, the Mirror sits down with 44-year-old Gemma to find out more… It comes after one TV star admitted she sleeps in separate bed to partner as she fumes over pregnancy. Hi, Gemma! You recently tricked fans by saying you'll marry on ice in a nod to your iconic time on Dancing On Ice. How did that go down? People loved it. I've always been an oversharer. I love to spill the coffee. I just think everyone's just not been saying much and keeping it in. We all need to overshare more. Everyone's so reserved. So everyone loved it. It was like they were getting the scoop. And it's gonna be so much fun when people finally realise that I'm not getting married on ice. How are those wedding plans going? It's going really well but, if I'm honest, I haven't actually done anything about it yet because I've had just the craziest of times recently. It's been nonstop. But I'm sure Jedward are gonna get up and sing. I've not decided where it's gonna be. I mean, after Jeff Bezos' wedding, I've sure as hell got to try and top that one, haven't I? I had my friend DJ Fat Tony's wedding this year and that was just so beautiful, it was just so right. They obviously put a lot of planning into it, but their day was beautiful. I am very last minute so, knowing me, I'll probably decide two weeks before. So will it be next year? Absolutely it will be 2026. I spoke to my astrologer and that is the year to get married. Are there any unusual plans you would actually include in your big day? 'I'd like it very mythical, actually. I'd like fairies. I'm obsessed with Maleficent , you know the movie? So I'd like a woodland setting, I think. Very like boho but magical. You've said that Jedward could have a special role – is that still on the table? Absolutely. They will be singing. They'll definitely have a major role in the big day. They could be mythical creatures. I love them to death, the boys. What have you enjoyed most about wedding planning so far? That's the thing, I haven't pulled my finger out and done one bloody single thing. So I'm literally at the very, very beginning. All I know is I want it mythical with mythical creatures. Have you got your guest list sorted? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. You have been open about your weight loss journey. How is everything going? There was a spanner in the works, because I got pneumonia, so it slowed down a bit. I'm just constantly on that vibe of positivity and loving yourself, and just taking it slow, really. There's no rush there. You've said your weight loss has been life-changing – in what ways? I think it's just really lovely to walk into a shop and to be able to buy outfits and they fit. I have gone from a size 26 back to a 20. I make sure I can enjoy my summer. We all relax a bit more in the summer but then – boom – straight back on it again. How have you been since your bout of pneumonia? It was terrible, but I've just suddenly, in the last couple of weeks, been back to normal. But it really takes it out of you. I'm fine now, so I can get about a bit more, and I've been walking a lot more. Everything's on the up now, honey. Can we expect you back on our screens any time soon? Do you know what? Watch this space. So can you tell us what you've been up to over the summer months? I've been a busy stepmum because, obviously, I've got Tristan now [fiancé Rami's seven-year-old son]. I don't share him too much on socials, because I respect his privacy but we've had him, so that's been lovely. We've been just doing normal, kiddy-friendly things. I spent more time in Jump Street [children's trampoline park] than I've had hot dinners. I've been on the PlayStation – you name it, I've been doing it: parks, doggy walks. I wish I could say to you, I'm sat in Mykonos drinking a Piña Colada, but I'm not. I have been busy doing stepmother duties but I wouldn't have it any other way. I've loved it.

The most painful reality TV injuries ever, from torn vulva to 'accidental C-sec
Celebrity SAS contestant Lucy Spraggan has recently made headlines after suffering one of the most painful injuries in TV history. Sharing details of the grisly injury, she described how she 'tore' her vulva while filming the reality TV competition. 'I ripped my labia – it was bad,' she told The Sun. 'That's not a common injury. Actually, genuinely, that's never been the same, so much so I'm having some surgery soon to correct it.' She went on to say how she didn't really know what had happened to cause the tear, guessing only that the harness she had been wearing 'was tight'. Lucy's injury may have been one of the worst suffered by a reality TV contestant, but she's far from the only one to have been gravely injured in the name of entertainment. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. Here's our run-down of the most painful injuries in all of reality television. As you might expect from a show which has celebrities speeding around an ice rink with sharp blades attached to their feet, Dancing on Ice has had no shortage of casualties over the years. The most serious of these was perhaps Olympian Greg Rutherford, who suffered a grisly injury when he fell and landed on his own ice skate. During the long and painful recovery period, Greg likened the injury to 'having a C-section.' In 2021, Denise van Outen was forced to pull out after an accident left her with three bone fractures and a partial dislocation. Talking about the incident on Instagram afterwards, Denise described the pain as 'unbearable.' Greg and Denise join the likes of Jennifer Ellison (who kicked herself in the head with her own skate), Josh Jones (injured during rehearsals) and Keith Chegwin, who suffered cracked ribs on the first day of the competition. In 2018, Love Island star Dani Dyer was forced to drop out of the South Africa-set ITV2 series after only one day. The injury occurred as Dani went headfirst down a waterslide, dislocating her shoulder on the way down. A source said: 'Dani knew straight away she had done serious damage but tried to continue as she didn't want to seem like a wuss. It was too much, though, and she was taken to the hospital.' Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle's injuries sustained while filming ski competition The Jump are considered by many to be the worstto ever happen on a reality TV show. Beth was airlifted to hospital during rehearsals for the Channel 4 show, which took place at the show's ski jump set in Austria in 2016. According to Beth's lawyer, she sustained serious injuries, which included two fractured vertebrae, and required surgery on her spinal cord. In 2019, it was reported that Beth was suing the show's makers for £200,000 in damages. She claimed that she has never fully recovered from the incident, saying at the time: 'It's been a long journey and my recovery is still ongoing. I'm not sure I'll ever be 100% again.' A statement by production company TwoFour said: 'This matter is being dealt with by our insurers and we are unable to comment as the claim is ongoing.' Beth was one of many celebrities who sustained serious injuries on the show, including Tina Hobley (broken arm), Mark-Francis Vandelli (fractured his ankle), Rebecca Adlington (dislocated shoulder) and Sarah Harding (injured knee). Following these high-profile celebrity injuries, The Jump was put on indefinite hiatus in 2018. After injuring his leg during training for the ITV diving competition Splash! Crimewatch presenter Rav Wilding was rushed to hospital with a blood clot on a lung on New Year's Eve. Not only did Rav's injury spoil his Christmas, but he also struggled to find work afterwards, and was forced to cancel his wedding to fiancée Jill Morgan. 'It breaks my heart that Jill and I had to cancel our wedding,' he told The Guardian at the time. When former MP Louise Mensch took part in the Channel 4 series in 2019, she was forced to drop out after ripping a muscle. 'After I quit, which I had to, I was completely injured, I wasn't going to let the team take punishment for me,' she told 'Every step was painful and they had me checked out at hospital and I had a three and a half centimetre rip in the back of my muscle, so literally every step was painful.' Not quite as grisly as a torn vulva, but still pretty painful. Former EastEnders star Nigel Harman had been one of the favourites to win Strictly in 2023. While his fortunes ultimately varied on the show, his journey came to an end when he broke a rib while training for the quarter-finals. He explained: 'I was leaping off a rostrum, and was about to be caught by some very handsome men, and as I flew, I was Peter Pan, and as I landed, I was in A&E. 'It's quite painful. This hasn't really sunk in. I've been avoiding Katya all day because that makes it really real as well.' It's not just the contestants who need to watch out; sometimes, the hosts find themselves in harm's way. More Trending While rehearsing for I'm A Celebrity spin-off Extra Camp in 2018, host Joel Dommett suffered a gnarly injury when he was struck on the head with a sign. He was subsequently rushed to hospital, where he was given seven stitches and the day off to recover. Before that, in 2005, former Neighbours star Kimberley Davies fractured a rib after jumping 15ft from a helicopter in a Bushucker trial. Gemma Collins admits wedding plans are on hold again as she makes blunt admission
EXCLUSIVE: The Only Way Is Essex legend Gemma Collins has spilled on her wedding plans to fiancé Rami Hawash but confessed things aren't on a strict schedule as she revealed Jedward's special role Gemma Collins certainly believes she can outdo Amazon boss Jeff Bezos' lavish ceremony, dubbed the celebrity wedding of the decade, and has chosen a very unique theme for her big day. However, the TOWIE icon bluntly admitted she hasn't laid down any plans despite her four-year engagement. "After Jeff Bezos' wedding, I've sure as hell got to try and top that one, haven't I?" she exclusively told us. The reality TV star, 44, is in the midst of wedding planning, but admitted things aren't fully going to plan. So much so, Gemma confessed she is even considering leaving it all to the last minute as she can't nail down exactly what she wants. It comes after Vogue Williams quits drinking after blacking out drunk at lavish showbiz wedding. Her excitement at walking down the aisle hasn't dwindled, however, as she marks four years since her second engagement to fiancé Rami Hawash, whom she met in 2011. Speaking of her plans so far, Gemma said: "It's going really well, but if I'm honest, I haven't actually done anything about it yet because I've had just the craziest of times recently. It's been nonstop. But I'm sure Jedward are gonna get up and sing. "I've not decided where it's gonna be. I am very last-minute, so I'll probably decide two weeks before." While she hasn't set a date, Gemma says next year will be when she finally says her 'I dos'. "Absolutely it will be 2026. I spoke to my astrologer and that is the year to get married," she said. Revealing more about her big day, including her very unique theme, the reality TV star admitted: 'I'd like it very mythical, actually. I'd like fairies. I'm obsessed with Maleficent, you know the movie? So I'd like a woodland setting. Very boho but magical." However, Gemma has a lot of work to do as she added: "I haven't pulled my finger out and done one bloody single thing. So I'm literally at the very, very beginning. All I know is I want it mythical with mythical creatures." Despite not having a guest list sorted, Gemma knows she'll have her best pals, Jedward, on hand to celebrate with her and has even been given a special role. "They will be singing," she revealed. "They'll definitely have a major role in the big day. They could be mythical creatures. I love them to death, the boys." Gemma recently teased her Instagram followers that she could recreate her viral Dancing On Ice fall, by getting married on ice."I've always been an oversharer. I love to spill the coffee. Everyone loved it," she said. However, it turned out Gemma was simply having fun and seeing how much her fans would believe as she took on the task of oversharing for Sky. She said: "It's gonna be so much fun when people finally realise that I'm not getting married on ice."
