Pop star Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom split 6 years after getting engaged
Popstar Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom have split, multiple media outlets reported Thursday.
Outlets including People and USA Today cited a statement that said the pair "have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting' and would continue to be seen in public with their daughter.
The statement, attributed to representatives for both stars, said their priority would be raising their daughter with 'love, stability, and mutual respect.'
The statement came a week after reports of the couple's breakup swirled ahead of the wedding of billionaire Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos, which Bloom attended alone. Perry has been on a world tour.
Representatives for Perry and Bloom did not immediately respond to The Associated Press' request for comment.
Perry, 40, and Bloom, 48, have been romantically linked since 2016. The pair split in 2017 but rekindled shortly thereafter, getting engaged on Valentine's Day in 2019, as Perry revealed during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live .
In 2020, the pair welcomed a daughter named Daisy Dove Bloom.
Perry and Bloom got Unicef to announce the news on its Instagram account. Both are goodwill ambassadors for the United Nations agency that helps children.
Bloom and his former wife, Australian model Miranda Kerr, have a son, Flynn, who was born in 2011. Daisy is Perry's only child.
Perry, born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, was previously married to comedian Russell Brand.
Born and raised in California, the 13-time Grammy Award nominee helped usher in the sound of 2000s pop, quickly becoming one of the bestselling artistes of all time for her campy, big, belting anthems. She has released seven studio albums, most notably 2010's sugar-sweet Teenage Dream . The album produced five No.1s that tied a record set by Michael Jackson's 1987 album Bad .
Bloom, who is from Canterbury, England, is best known for his roles as the elf Legolas in The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit films as well as Will Turner in the Pirates Of The Caribbean series. – AP

Neves serves as pallbearer at Jota funeral hours after emotional Club World Cup match
ORLANDO: Al-Hilal's Ruben Neves and Joao Cancelo flew to Portugal for the funeral for their former teammate Diogo Jota after an emotional Club World Cup quarter-final against Fluminense on Friday that saw them break down in tears during the minute's silence. Neves, one of Jota's closest friends, served as a pallbearer for the Liverpool forward who died alongside his younger brother Andre Silva following a car accident in northwestern Spain on Thursday morning when their Lamborghini veered off the road and caught fire. Tributes have continued to pour in for the brothers with footballing greats including Cristiano Ronaldo and Steven Gerrard, joining the Prime Ministers of Portugal and Britain in mourning the loss. Friday's match between Al-Hilal and Fluminense in Orlando began with players and fans observing a minute's silence in memory of the two brothers. Neves, who played with the 28-year-old Jota during their days at Wolverhampton Wanderers, issued a touching tribute on Instagram about an hour before kick-off. "Wherever you are, I know you're going to read this, we've never been one for this sort of thing and maybe now I'll regret it a little, but you know what you mean to me just as much as I know what I am to you," Neves said. "More than a friendship, we're family, and we're not going to stop being family just because you've decided to sign a contract a little further away from us! "When I go to the national team, you'll still be by my side at the dinner table, on the bus, on the plane... you'll always be there with me, as usual. We'll keep laughing, making plans, sharing our lives with each other. "I'll make sure you're always there and I'll make sure your family never lacks anything while you're there, far away but thinking of us, waiting for us ... "As of today, you'll be on the pitch with me, and we'll follow our path together, on the stage where we met." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ruben Neves (@rubendsneves) Chelsea's Portuguese forward Pedro Neto also paid a heartfelt tribute to his friends when he walked out on the field with a shirt bearing their names before their quarter-final against Palmeiras in Philadelphia. "We spoke with Pedro yesterday and this morning and this afternoon and it was completely Pedro's decision to play or not to play," Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca said after his team's 2-1 win. "He did, he made a fantastic effort to play this game, to play with his teammates, and we really appreciate what he has done. "I just said to the players that this win is especially for him because we know how close he was, and the effort that he has made. So no doubt that we really appreciate what he decided in the end." --REUTERS

British rock legends Oasis kick off 'historic' comeback tour

The Manchester rockers, who shot to fame in the mid-1990s Britpop era, reeled off a string of their biggest hits in front of a 74,000-strong crowd in the Welsh capital, leaving those there in raptures. Frontman Liam Gallagher told the crowd packed into the Principality Stadium it had been too long as he spearheaded a two-hour set featuring classics like Champagne Supernova , Stand By M e and Supersonic . The once-warring Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel also sang together on Roll With It . Liam Gallagher from the band Oasis performs during their reunion concert on Friday, July 4, 2025, in Cardiff. (Photo by Scott A Garfitt/Invision/AP) The band thanked fans for putting up with us over the years as they closed out a jubilant first night of their Oasis Live '25 tour. They play a second night in Cardiff Saturday, kickstarting 41 concerts around the world that includes five hometown gigs in Manchester starting July 11. Further sold-out British and Irish concerts will follow at London's Wembley Stadium, Edinburgh's Murrayfield and Dublin's Croke Park, before visiting other countries. The band's 1990s gigs are the stuff of legend but the chance to see them perform again was long seen as a remote prospect, following one of music's bitterest break-ups. The tour is expected to be a boon for the struggling UK economy, with fans spending on tickets, transport and accommodation. Oasis announced the comeback tour last August, days before the 30th anniversary of their debut album Definitely Maybe. The Gallagher brothers maintained a war of words about each other for more than a decade, performing individually over those years but never together. They now appear to have put their differences aside. Although the duo did not engage in any on-stage banter Friday, they briefly high fived and hugged each other's shoulders following their closing track. Last summer's reunion announcement sparked a chaotic clamour for tickets that devolved into outrage over sudden price hikes and saw Britain's competition watchdog threaten legal action. Resale tickets costing thousands of pounds have surfaced, while fans have also been targeted by online scams. Liam appeared to make light of the furore Friday, reportedly telling fans: "Are you having a good time? Was it worth the £40,000 you paid for the ticket?" During the final bars of Live Forever a picture of Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota, who died in a car accident Thursday, was displayed, with the crowd cheering and applauding the gesture. Oasis reportedly began jamming together months ago, before rehearsing in London more recently. The band has welcomed several new members for the tour, including a keyboard player and drummer. – AFP
