‘System is so cruel': OMG 2 director disappointed after his Shahid Kapoor film on Shivaji gets shelved, wonders if his ‘Rs 180 cr film was not enough' proof
In a chat with Mid-day, Amit said, 'The system is so cruel. Even if you have proved your mettle with a R180 crore film [OMG 2], it's not enough.' Amit did not explain why his project was shelved but expressed his disappointment with the systemic problems of the film industry. 'How is a director supposed to work here, under these systems of casting, production, star, and management? You live with a story for five years, and within minutes, somebody writes a five-pager, pointing out what is wrong and what is right in the film,' he said.

Anurag Basu clarifies Kartik Aaryan-Sreeleela's next is not Saiyaara rehash: 'The only similarity in our films is...'
Anurag Basu has denied the rumours and clarified on the comparisons and said that it is not a rehash of Saiyaara read more After the humongous box office success of Ahaan Panday & Aneet Padda starrer Saiyaara, the comparisons have been emerged with Anurag Basu's upcoming romantic musical featuring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela. With the protagonists of both films being rockstars with the element of impactful, intense love stories, the parallels between the two have been making noise on social media. Now, filmmaker Anurag Basu has denied the rumours and clarified on the comparisons and said that it is not a rehash of _Saiyaara_. 'Mohit (Suri) and I are very close. I'm happy for his film's success. The only similarity in our films is that the male lead is a rockstar, and the story is about his journey," Basu told Mid-Day. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD While there were rumours that just like Saiyaara, the lead female character in Basu's film is suffering from a mental condition, and the makers have rewritten the script and will reshoot some portions, Basu denied it and said, 'In my film, the girl doesn't have dementia or any (other condition). We are not rewriting or re-shooting. I knew beforehand that the girl has Alzheimer's (disease) in Saiyaara. So, why would I write the same [plot point] in mine?" Talking about the delay of the movie, Basu shared, 'We have shot about 40 per cent of the film. In August and September, we plan to shoot another schedule in which Kartik will have a clean-shaven look. He is currently shooting for Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, in which he has a specific look. The continuity is the problem. He needs to complete that film; after that, by the month-end, we will lock the next schedule.' While the untitled movie backed by T-Series was earlier scheduled to release in Diwali 2025, it is now pushed to 2026.

Suniel Shetty says son Ahan was targeted as some in Bollywood are angry with him: ‘Due to Border 2, he now has friends like Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh'
Suniel Shetty had earlier alleged that his son Ahan Shetty was targeted and ousted from various films after he signed Border 2. The original cult classic 1997 film featured Suniel in a key role, and now his son Ahan Shetty will also play a prominent role in Border 2. During a recent interaction, Suniel opened up about the issue and shared that some people in Bollywood might be upset with him and are taking it out on Ahan. Speaking to Instant Bollywood, Suniel Shetty was asked how people in the industry could remove Ahan from films despite him being his son. He responded, saying, 'That doesn't matter. Maybe I had done a mistake, and they are angry with me, and they want to take it out on somebody else. You can't change destiny. Ahan is very much a part of Border 2, and it is because of this film that he has gained so much appreciation, and he got friends like Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh. They love him like a younger brother.' When asked if he is protective of his son because he has seen various pitfalls in the industry, he said, 'In anything, you will have to do hard work. There are no shortcuts, and Ahan's first film did well during the pandemic and the film did business of Rs 35-40 crores and had an opening of Rs 4-5 crore even during the pandemic. Fingers crossed, I hope Border 2 crosses Rs 500 crore, and I pray Ahan is also appreciated along with Sunny Deol, Varun, and Diljit.' Suniel also commented on debutant Ahaan Panday's film Saiyaara's success and how the film has become a turning point in the Hindi film industry. He said, 'It is unbelievable. There is no substitute to hard work, and that is Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's story. Now it is a big responsibility because they have given a new generation a chance, and maybe this is the turning point for the industry where producers might think that youngsters should get more opportunities.' Earlier, during an interaction with Zoom, Suniel had shared that his son faced backlash after he signed Border 2 over other projects. He said, 'Ahan let go of many things for this film. A lot of opportunities slipped out of his hands due to egos. He was removed from films and then blamed. Rumours were spread that he comes with expensive bodyguards, and paid articles were published.' He added, 'Stories were made up because Ahan wanted to do Border, while others wanted their own films to be made. Everything was manipulated.'
