Vijay Deverakonda says he could have avoided flop movies if he came from a strong film family: ‘Now, I will not go to shoot if…'
Recently, Deverakonda opened up about the setbacks he's faced over the years, maintaining that had he belonged to a film family with a strong foundation and guiding voices, some of his missteps might have been avoided. He also mentioned that he moved forward with certain projects despite lacking full conviction in their scripts, simply because he felt he didn't have the voice to demand refinement. Without explicitly using the word 'nepotism', he told The Hollywood Reporter India, 'I was never in a position to tell a director… I don't think people outside the industry will get this… but when you do not come from an 'establishment' of a sort and you do not have that support system, you do not have the space to tell the director that you are not ready to go to shoot yet with this script and that it needs more work.'

He continued, 'Whereas another actor, with similar experience but has the support around him, would know from childhood itself that he doesn't have to go to shoot. Or his father will come and tell him, 'No, spend two-three more months. I'll get you two-three more writers.' I never had that space, until recently. Now, if I'm not happy with something, I talk to the producers and directors, and say that 'I will not shoot this because the producer's money, the director's career, and my face and the reputation I have built are all important.''
Earlier in his career, Deverakonda said he often went along with projects despite doubts, simply because a producer insisted or a director believed in the vision. But today, he's adopted a new approach. 'Now, I've decided that if we do it, we should all be solidly happy with it in the first place. So, that's something I've learned to do and found comfort in doing. I've found that place in life, the leverage and a sense of security to be able to have those conversations,' he added.

Since the success of Taxiwaala (2018), Deverakonda hasn't had even a single hit and his subsequent films like Dear Comrade (2019), World Famous Lover (2020), Liger (2022), Kushi (2023) and The Family Star (2024) underperformed at the box office. The only success he tasted during this period was with the Prabhas-starrer Kalki 2898 AD (2024), in which he made a cameo appearance. Kingdom, helmed by Jersey director Gowtam Tinnanuri, will hit the screens on July 31.

War 2 Hindi Advance Booking Report: Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR film sells GOOD 50,000 tickets in top chains for Thursday, with 2 days to go
.War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, and starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani among others, continued its good pace in advance bookings for the Hindi version. The total tickets sold in top national chains like PVRInox and Cinepolis for the opening day, as at 11:30pm on 11th August, 2025, stand at 50,000. A final PIC ticket count of 1,50,000 plus can be expected, making it very eligible for a Rs 30 crore plus net Hindi opening. War 2 (Hindi) Sells 50,000 Tickets In Top Chains For Day 1, Two Days Out War 2's Telugu version bookings should start tomorrow, and the bookings are expected to be heartening. However, considering the fact that it is, at the end of the day, a Bollywood movie and not a conventional Tollywood biggie which gets support from the local diaspora audience without much effort, the bookings are not expected to be bumper. The all India day 1 expectations are pinned at Rs 55 crore net, with day 2 numbers expected to be over Rs 60 crore net. War 2's Bookings Are Good, Though Not Exceptional While the bookings of War 2 can be classified as good, given everything, what was really expected was excellent or bumper. The initial euphoria seen in some of the 2023 Bollywood biggies is not visible here. The masses are not totally on board and it will take some really strong word of mouth to get that section of audience to watch it. Fighter trended well but suffered immensely because of not getting the desired support from the masses. Whether War 2 changes that for Hrithik Roshan is still to be seen. War 2 Targets A Rs 100 Crore Gross Worldwide Start The bookings of War 2 internationally are reasonable. A Rs 100 crore global opening day will be a touch and go for the Hrithik-Jr NTR actioner. Its release rival Coolie is cruising towards a number of around Rs 140 crore on the other hand. Since Hindi films are known to trend better than Tamil films due to less exhaustion of audiences on the opening day, it is expected that War 2 will eventually take the lead provided it lives up to its hype. Hyderabad turned into the center of excitement as the makers of War 2 held the film's only promotional event in the city on Sunday, August 10. Here's what Hrithik learnt from NTR on set Hrithik reflected on the similarities between their careers. 'I see a lot of myself in Tarak. We have had very similar journeys for 25 years now, and I think Tarak sees a little bit of himself in me also,' he said. Calling NTR a 'one-take final-take star,' Hrithik admired his ability to deliver perfection on the first try. Sharing what he picked up while working together, Hrithik shared, 'I have learnt how to go into a shot 100% - not 99.99%, not 99.999, but 100%. Which is why when he comes out of a shot, there is no judgement on me. He will not even check the shot because he knows he has given everything to it. And I will apply that in my future films. Tarak, thank you for teaching me that.' War 2 release date and details Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films, War 2 is part of the Yash Raj Spy Universe. The film stars Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani in lead roles, with NTR making his Bollywood debut as the antagonist. Aside from high-octane action sequences, audiences can look forward to a unique 'dance-war' between Hrithik and NTR in the song Janaabe Aali, composed by Pritam, sung by Sachet Tandon and Saaj Bhatt, and penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. War 2 is set to release in theatres on August 14, 2025, in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. With NTR also working on his 2026 mytho-sci-fi film NTR x Neel, the actor continues to remain at the forefront of Indian cinema's biggest upcoming blockbusters. Dhanashree Verma asked Yuzvendra Chahal for Rs 60 crore alimony? Here's what we know
When cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma's divorce was finalized this year, a flurry of speculation erupted. Rumors circulated widely on social media that Dhanashree had demanded a massive ₹60 crore in alimony, leading to a public backlash. Neither Yuzvendra nor Dhanashree has provided any specific reason for their separation in their joint statement, which led to netizens speculating about their own concocted stories. When the rumors of Rs 60 crore alimony spread on the internet, Dhanashree's family released an official statement and refuted the claims. The statement reads. 'We are deeply outraged by the baseless claims being circulated about the alimony figure. Let me be absolutely clear—no such amount has ever been asked, demanded, or even offered. There is no truth to these rumours whatsoever. It is deeply irresponsible to publish such unverified information, dragging not just the parties but also their families into unnecessary speculation. Reckless reporting like this only causes harm, and we urge the media to exercise restraint and fact-check before spreading misinformation and also be respectful towards everyone's privacy." Further, Aditi Mohony, Dhanashree's lawyer, also refuted the claims and said, 'I have no comments to make on the proceedings; the matter is currently sub judice. The media should fact-check before reporting, as a lot of misleading information is being circulated.' How much does Yuzvendra Chahal pay Dhanashree Verma as alimony? According to the report, Yuzvendra Chahal paid Rs 4.75 crore to Dhanashree Verma as alimony. However, an official confirmation on the same is awaited. In a recent podcast with Raj Shamani, the cricketer opened up on his divorce and said, 'A relationship needs balance. When one is upset, the other listens. But when two people are driven and on different paths, it's tough. I was playing for India, she was building her career, and over 1–2 years, I couldn't give the relationship the attention it needed. Eventually, you stop trying. Ambition doesn't mean you can't be together, but it takes effort, and sometimes, priorities clash.' The two tied the knot in December 2020 and parted ways in 2022. Later, in February 2025, they filed for divorce by mutual consent in the family court, which officially granted them a divorce. The cricketer is now rumored to be dating RJ Mahavash.
