Will Smith addresses Chris Rock Oscars slap in new album 'Based on a True Story'

Will Smith is back in his music bag, releasing his first full-length album in two decades.
"Based on a True Story" features 14 tracks, with appearances by Teyana Taylor, DJ Jazzy Jeff and comedian/social media personality B. Simone. The latter two appear on the intro track, "Int. Barbershop - Day."
In a video Smith shared on Thursday teasing the new project, he states that the "process for this album is really allowing myself to be more honest with myself than I ever have about who and what I actually am."

"This is about to be the greatest artistic, creative period of my entire life," he adds.
Among the topics mentioned on Smith's new album is his first Oscar win in 2022 and the now-infamous incident in which he slapped Chris Rock during that awards ceremony, leading to his 10-year ban from the event and rumors the award would be rescinded. In the end, Smith was not asked to return the award.
Following the Oscars slap, Smith apologized to Rock in a video shared on social media.
Nearly a year after the incident, Rock addressed the slap in his Netflix special, "Selective Outrage."
"I'm going to try to do a show tonight without offending nobody. I'm going to try my best, because you never know who might get triggered," he said at the time. "People always say words hurt. Anybody who says words hurt has never been punched in the face."
In "Int. Barbershop - Day," Smith plays different voices in a barbershop inspired by Eddie Murphy's barbershop scene from "Coming To America." In a video shared Friday on Instagram, Smith says he wanted to capture the "barbershop vibe of people talking about me."

"Just all the stuff that I heard," he says. "It was fun to play all of the different characters and be my own hater."
In the track itself, Smith raps, "I heard he won the Oscar but he had to give it back / and you know they only made him do that s--- because he's Black."
"I ain't never gonna forgive him for the s--- he did," Smith continues in another voice. "You better keep his wife's name out of your mouth."
Smith also references those topics on the second track, "You Lookin' For Me?", where he raps, "Won't stop, my s---'s still hot even though I won't get nominatеd / Personal life with my wife, mind your business, it's complicated."
The actor and singer said in a video shared to Instagram on Friday that "You Lookin' For Me?" is "attached" to the first track and addresses "a little bit of where I've been and what I've been doing."
"I just kept hearing people say, 'Where is Will Smith?'" he added.
Smith's new album includes several previously released singles, including "First Love" featuring India Martinez and Marcin, "Beautiful Scars" featuring Big Sean and O Banga, and "You Can Make It" featuring Fridayy and Sunday Service Choir.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are engaged. What we know so far about the massive ring that's estimated to be worth 7 figures

The bride-to-be posted the photo of the impressive diamond ring that broke the internet. Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentine model Georgina Rodríguez announced their engagement on Monday after eight years of dating. The bride-to-be shared the momentous news in an Instagram post, with a photo of her massive sparkler of an engagement ring and the caption, written in Spanish: 'Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.' The post has since broken the internet, with over 11.3 million likes as of Tuesday morning. The official details of Rodríguez's bling, like the number of carats and how much it's worth, have yet to be revealed by the power couple and their unknown jeweler, but that hasn't stopped jewelry experts from weighing in. Here's what we know so far about the 'four C's' (cut, clarity, color and carat) of the impressive diamond ring: What kind of cut is the diamond? Abdulla BelJafla, creative director of Gafla, who shared his insight with Vogue Arabia, said the main diamond in the center is an oval-cut, which maximizes its brilliance. 'A perfectly proportioned oval (with a 1.30–1.50 length-to-width ratio) offers symmetry on the hand,' he told the magazine. 'While many ovals exhibit the subtle 'bow-tie effect,' this piece appears to have exceptional light dispersion, minimizing it entirely.' How many estimated carats are there? Rodríguez's oval-cut diamond ring is approximately 37 carats in total, according to jewelry experts. The center oval stone weighs about 35 carats, Tobias Kormind, the managing director of 77 Diamonds in London, told People. He believes the center stone is flanked by oval stones on the sides, about one carat each, set in platinum. BelJafla also assessed the stunner to be about 37 carats total and estimated the center diamond to be "between 22 and 30 carats," he told Vogue Arabia. Let's get down to brass tacks. How much do we think this ring is worth? It's estimated to be worth seven figures. 'If the diamond is natural and of exceptional quality in the D-F color range with flawless or near-flawless clarity, its value could easily exceed around $2 million," Laura Taylor, engagement ring specialist at Lorel Diamonds, told People. Meanwhile, Kormind estimates that Rodríguez is carrying around a $5 million ring on her finger. 'Experts value the ring between U.S. $4 million and U.S. $5 million,' BelJafla told Vogue Arabia, 'given the size, flawless clarity, and D color of the stones. … A ring like this is quite rare if it's a natural diamond.' What else do we know about the engaged couple? Ronaldo, 40, and Rodríguez, 31, have been together for eight years. They have a total of four children together: twins Eva Maria and Mateo, 8 (born via surrogacy); daughter Alana, 7; and daughter Bella, 3. Ronaldo also has a 15-year-old son, Cristiano Jr., from a previous relationship. The couple previously announced the death of Bella's twin brother, Ángel, in April 2022.

Emma Thompson Makes Honest Admission About Her Harry Potter Role

With a career that stretches back more than 40 years, everyone has a Dame Emma Thompson role they most associate her with. Many of us can't see her without getting a bit choked up thanks to her tear-jerking performance in the festive rom-com Love Actually, while for others, her signature role was in period dramas like Howard's End and Sense & Sensibility (both of which earned her Oscar wins, by the way). Then there are younger millennials who best remember her as Nanny McPhee, while more recently, she gave a chilling turn as the steely MP Vivienne Rook in Russell T Davies' dystopian Years And Years. And, of course, there are thousands around the globe to whom Dame Emma will always be best remembered for her performance as the eccentric and scatty divination professor Sybill Trelawney in the Harry Potter films. However, it seems that the woman herself doesn't quite hold that franchise as dear to her heart as some of her fans. During a recent Q&A at the Locarno film festival, Variety reported Dame Emma as saying of her stint in Harry Potter: 'I don't mean to be rude, but I came in, did the bit with glasses and hair, and left.' The two-time Oscar winner made her debut as Professor Trelawney in the third film, Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban, reprising the role twice more in The Order Of The Phoenix and the final film, The Deathly Hallows, part two. Elsewhere in the conversation, Dame Emma also admitted she's surprised at the enduring appeal of Love Actually. 'I think [Dame Emma's character hit] a nerve because we, women, when we are experiencing heartbreak, sometimes we have to hide it,' she said. 'What moves you is not her crying, it's her covering it up, going downstairs and being cheerful.'

Lady Gaga's New Album Dances Back To The Charts

Lady Gaga dropped her new album Mayhem in early March and just a few months later kicked off The Mayhem Ball. The global trek sees the pop superstar traveling to countries across several continents and performing dozens of shows before wrapping in early 2026. As photos and videos of her high-octane performances make the rounds on social media after every new tour date, interest in Mayhem grows, and fans in the United Kingdom are getting excited for their chance to see the Grammy and Oscar winner before The Mayhem Ball hits London in September. Mayhem Returns to Multiple Charts The project reappears on multiple charts in that country, as Mayhem dances back onto two tallies in the U.K. this week. Gaga's latest full-length returns to the Official Physical Albums chart — which ranks only the top-selling titles available on CD, cassette, or vinyl — at No. 75. The same project also breaks onto the Official Album Sales chart at No. 79. Lady Gaga's Former No. 1 Mayhem has now spent the exact same length of time on both of those sales lists, as this frame is its twenty-first on the two rosters. In the past, when Mayhem was brand new, it hit No. 1, becoming a top seller in the U.K. Mayhem and The Fame Chart – But Don't Cross This week, Gaga sees two of her albums find space on the charts in the U.K., though there's no overlap between the pair. As Mayhem becomes a bestseller, The Fame, her debut full-length, appears on both the Official Albums and Official Album Streaming charts. On the former, which ranks the most consumed titles, her decade-plus-old set jumps to No. 56, while simultaneously declining slightly on the streaming-only tally. 'Die With a Smile' Represents Mayhem on the Charts Mayhem may be a hit on the charts once again, but only one single from the project is still going strong, and it's the oldest of the bunch. 'Die With a Smile,' her collaboration with Bruno Mars, lifts on four rosters at once. In just a few days, it will reach 52 weeks — a full year — on both streaming and sales rankings. An even older tune, 'Always Remember Us This Way,' is also growing. That solo track, taken from her A Star Is Born soundtrack album, rises on the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts, coming in at No. 61 and No. 59, respectively.
