Ruckus in Dewan Rakyat over use of Terengganu dialect term 'mambar'
The incident began after Datuk Rosol Wahid (PN–Hulu Terengganu) asked Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul to clarify the status of the six MPs, and whether they should be considered part of the government or the opposition. Rosol described the position of the six MPs as 'mambar,' a term he said refers to something not solid or "in between".
RSN Rayer (PH–Jelutong) then raised a point of order, calling the term inappropriate and disrespectful. Rosol responded by saying, "Even that is sensitive to you."
Chong Zhemin (PH–Kampar) also raised an objection, calling on Rosol to retract his statement. "Everyone understands it is a subtle insult. It is unparliamentary," Chong said.
Johari, unfamiliar with the term, said he could not make a definitive ruling. "I do not even know what it means, so I cannot consider it unparliamentary," he said, before asking Rosol to avoid using the word again to prevent confusion.
The matter escalated further when Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (PN–Kota Baru) interjected, suggesting the term may have different meanings depending on the region. The debate then devolved into a shouting match between Rayer, Takiyuddin, and Radzi Jidin (PN–Putrajaya), which included a reference to an alleged insult to Islam by Takiyuddin.
Johari ruled that while the term might be harmless in some regions, its meaning is not universally understood. "Everyone, please be seated. The term may have different meanings depending on the state. In Kedah, for instance, it can mean beautiful, great, or excellent," he said, concluding that the term should be avoided to prevent confusion.

No special fund for rising agricultural input costs, says Mat Sabu
KUALA LUMPUR: There is currently no special fund to offset the rising costs of agricultural inputs as these price hikes are largely driven by external factors, says Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu. However, he said the government has taken steps to ease the financial burden on farmers, especially paddy growers, by ensuring the continued supply of essential inputs like fertilisers and pesticides. 'To help reduce the impact of higher production costs, we have reviewed the pricing structure of supply contracts under various support programmes,' he said in a written reply to Hulu Selangor MP Mohd Hasnizan Harun in the Dewan Rakyat. These programmes include the Federal Government Paddy Fertiliser Subsidy Programme (SBPKP), the Paddy Production Incentive Scheme (SIPP), and the Upland Paddy Fertiliser and Pesticide Subsidy Scheme (SBRPB). As part of these efforts, the government has increased the fertiliser subsidy by 25%, from RM2,552.20 to RM3,184.40 per hectare per season. At the same time, Mohamad Sabu said his ministry has applied for a higher pesticide allocation in the 2026 operating budget. The proposed rate is RM300 per hectare per season, up from the current RM200. The approval of this request, however, depends on the country's financial position. The minister also acknowledged concerns over rising input costs, including fertiliser, pesticides, and seeds, in recent years, noting that much of the raw materials used in their production are imported. 'This makes agricultural inputs vulnerable to global price changes and foreign exchange fluctuations, which in turn drives up farming costs and affects farmers' incomes,' he said.

According to the Order Paper on the Parliament portal, the question is being raised by Datuk Mohd Isam Mohd Isa (BN-Tampin) to the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation during Minister's Question Time. Mohd Isam also wants to now what action will be taken against operators who fail to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) after receiving the benefits of the tariff adjustment. During the same session, Lim Guan Eng (PH-Bagan) will ask the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry to state the steps the government has taken to achieve a 19 percent tariff negotiation result and the concessions Malaysia has offered to the United States. Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman (PN-Sik) will question the Foreign Minister regarding the steps the government is taking to urge the international community, particularly the United Nations (UN), to halt the continuous attacks by the Zionist regime on Gaza. During the oral question and answer session, Syerleena Abdul Rashid (PH-Bukit Bendera) will ask the Minister of Transport to state the efforts that have been and are being taken to facilitate access for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to public transportation, similar to Korea, which uses sign language and Braille in the announcement systems at stations and on mass transit vehicles.
