FRISCO - Star edge rusher Micah Parsons and coach Brian Schotteheimer hooked up on the phone over the weekend.

That was fun.
On Tuesday, Micah is in attendance here at The Star for the start of mandatory minicamp, with a now-revealed plan to participate in the workouts.
"He will be on the field doing some stuff,'' Schotty told us before the practice session.
This follows up a viral social media trend where people call their friends out of the blue to say "goodnight". ... with Micah having called Tyler Smith, Trevon Diggs, Osa Odighizuwa and KaVontae Turpin ... and then seeing things turning a bit serious when Parsons called first-year coach Schottenheimer.
"Look, I know this is weird for everybody man, but look you're handling everything the right way, bro," Schotty said after Parsons explained how he reached out to check on his coach.

Schottenheimer, of course, was referencing Parsons' ongoing contract negotiations.
"This thing's going to get worked out, and again I'm thrilled to see where we take this thing, man,'' the coach said. "We're building something special and you're going to be a huge part of it, bro."
This "promise" from Schotty is reassuring news that Parsons will soon be signed to a long-term deal to stay in Dallas. Regardless of how much the contract is worth - what CowboysCountry.com reports could touch $40 million a year - fans will be glad that things are finally settled.
And Micah's response that night to the coach?

"See you Monday," Parsons said during the call, a hint to his attendance at the upcoming mandatory minicamp festivities this week.
After a team dinner Monday, the Cowboys have three days of work. Then they have six weeks off before flying to Oxnard for training camp.
To this point, Parsons has vowed to not use a holdout as leverage in his negotiations. Tuesday is the first official day for progress on this "promise" issued by Schottenheimer.
Micah has stated how important it is to him to be with the team and with this coach.
And so here he is.

Phillies' Aaron Nola Confirms Rib Stress Fracture Amid Setback
Phillies' Aaron Nola Confirms Rib Stress Fracture Amid Setback originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia Phillies placed starting pitcher Aaron Nola on the injured list with a right ankle sprain in May. Since he's been out, the Phillies have cobbled together innings from bullpen games, Taijuan Walker, and, fortunately, the emergence of Mick Abel. Advertisement But Nola suffered a setback in the form of a different issue that popped up last week. Nola had suffered a fracture right rib and has since been deemed to be out until at least mid-July, and after the All-Star break. Ahead of the Phillies' series against the Toronto Blue Jays, Nola spoke with reporters for the first time since his setback. There, he broke his silence on how he's feeling and where he stands in his recovery process. On Pattison on Twitter/X shared Nola's comments on his injury, setback, and how he's dealing with it going forward. "It definitely wasn't the news I was expecting," Nola said. "I felt it a little more than I had in my last bullpen... Just did an MRI, came back with a stress fracture. So it's just trying to do as much as I can with trainers to heal, and take time for it to heal." Advertisement Nola was then asked a follow-up question about whether he knew where his stress fracture originated, and if the bullpen session was a catalyst for the injury. "Honestly, I don't really know," Nola said. "I guess it just came from throwing. I'm not really sure how it comes about. I'm not really sure, I've never had a stress fracture in my rib before, this is really new to me." Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola (27) walks off the field after the fifth inning against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Curry-Imagn Images Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic also shared part of Nola's answer about his injury on Twitter/X. She provided more context on Nola's feelings amid the injury and his original ankle issue, which landed him on the injured list. Advertisement "Aaron Nola said he was told it was a stress fracture in his right rib," wrote Varnes. "Said he feels discomfort when breathing heavy or throwing. The initial injury that sent him to the IL, a right ankle sprain, is feeling better." While it's encouraging to hear the original right ankle issue is feeling better, the update from Nola on his fractured rib is an unfortunate setback amid his recovery. This update from Nola is a tough one for the Phillies. After he signed a massive $172 million deal in the offseason, Nola was expected to be a huge part of the rotation. But this injury and his 6.16 ERA start have made the contract look like a poor decision. While there is still plenty of time to rebound, Nola isn't expected back into the rotation anytime soon. Dak Prescott makes clear what his Cowboys priority is: ‘Be damned if it's just for my legacy'
Dak Prescott wants a championship ring, no matter the cost. Prescott told reporters on Thursday that it is his primary goal, regardless of the legacy he leaves in the NFL. 'Yeah, I want to win a championship,' Prescott said. 'The legacy, the things, whatever comes after I finish playing will take care of itself. I want to win a championship. Be damned if it's just for my legacy, or if it's for this team, for my personal being, for my sanity. Yeah, the legacy will take care of itself. I have to stay where my feet are.' Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is entering his 10th season with the Cowboys. AP Prescott is getting ready for his 10th NFL season, and only Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman has had a longer tenure in Dallas while starting under center. While Prescott, 31, has led the Cowboys to five playoff appearances, those trips have always ended before the team reached the NFC championship. Prescott has recently faced some tough injury luck, missing games in four of the last five seasons due to different setbacks. Last season, he missed nine games due to surgery on his hamstring. Now, as the 2025 season is approaching, Prescott seems to be feeling good about things in Dallas, with whom he signed a four-year, $240 million extension before last season, which has already been restructured. 'These OTAs, just the way that I've been seeing minicamp, the communication with [coach Brian Schottenheimer], with the quarterbacks or the quarterback room, just a lot of good things,' Prescott said. 'A lot of really good things that have me in a great place. I'm healthy. Excited as hell.' First-year head coach for the Dallas Cowboys Brian Schottenheimer AP With a new head coach in Schottenheimer, maybe they can complete Prescott's goal and bring a Lombardi Trophy back to the Lone Star State.
