RACE Across The World pays a heartbreaking tribute to former show star Sam Gardiner.
The former contestant passed away aged 24 after he was involved in a car crash.

The programme paid a heartbreaking tribute to the contestant on tonights edition after he passed away

Sam Gardiner was involved in the second series of the hit BBC One factual entertainment programme.
He appeared on the show alongside his mum Jo, where the pair came in fourth place as they tried to make it to Argentina from Mexico.
They were forced to withdraw from the travel game after they ran out of money to finish the seventh leg.
At the end of tonight's episode, the programme paid tribute to the former contestant with an end card after the credits.

Producers displayed a poignant picture of Sam when he was on Race Across The World in his backpacking gear.
The caption that was emblazoned on the screen read: "In loving memory of Sam Gardiner.
"2000-2025."
Viewers took to X - formerly known as Twitter - as they were left in tears by the slide and praised the corporation for their end of episode tribute.
One user remarked: "Lovely tribute to Sam at the end."
A second posted the same displayed image on the screen as they wrote: "RIP Sam."

"Rest in peace to Sam Gardiner, who took part in series 2 with his Mum, Jo, back in 2020," commented a third viewer.
While a fourth said: "They gave Sam Gardiner an end card. Sad."
And a fifth user added: "The tribute to Sam Gardiner," along with a crying face emoji.
On Monday night, Sam had been driving on the A34 near Manchester.

Greater Manchester Police said his car suddenly left the road and rolled over before it eventually landed on its side.
In an emotional tribute, his father Andrew said: "We are devastated by the loss of our beloved son Sam in a terrible accident.
"Sam left us far too soon, and whilst words will never fully capture the light, joy and energy he brought into our lives, we hold on to the memories that made him so special.
"Sam was adored by his family. As a son, brother and nephew, he was loyal, funny and fiercely protective."

I didn't think I could sing anymore because you can't get too emotional sing when you sing because your voice won't come out. 'This is what I say to singers now, you take the emotion and then you work it into the song, get it through, but don't get too involved with it because then you'll cry and you won't be able to sing.' Archie and Lilibet got prince and princess titles when their grandfather King Charles became monarch in 2022. The first time their titles were formally announced was after Lilibet's christening in March 2023. Due to the reported hold-up in their British passports, it is said that Harry started to explore the possibility of changing his family surname to Spencer in a nod to his late mother, Princess Diana. And Jennie added: "I think Harry has always been more Spencer than Windsor, so if he was ever going to change his name, it would be to Spencer. "But this would be a final nail in the coffin of his relationship with his father and his brother. It would amount to a public declaration that he no longer saw himself as part of the royal family." There has been continued controversy over the Sussexes' HRH titles since the pair quit their royal roles five years ago. As part of their Megxit negotiations with the Palace, Meghan and the Duke of Sussex agreed to stop using 'Her Royal Highness' and 'His Royal Highness' at the end of March 2020. They still retain the styles, with Harry having had his since birth, but they are essentially held in abeyance. However, earlier this year, it emerged Meghan had used her HRH style on a gift basket sent to make-up entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima last year, with a monogrammed card reading: 'With Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex'. Kern Lima showed an image of the present in footage of her podcast interview with Meghan. It contained a jar of Meghan's jam which she has started selling as part of her As Ever lifestyle business brand. A source described the basket as a 'personal gift'. The duchess's representatives denied that the couple used them, but a source later said that the Sussexes did not use HRH publicly but retained the style, and did not use it for commercial purposes.
