However, that falls well below Palace's valuation of the defender, even though he has just one year remaining on his deal at Selhurst Park. Even a £45m bid is not considered to be enough by the south Londoners. Guehi, 25, is yet to be convinced a move to Anfield this summer would be beneficial, given that it is a World Cup year. The England man is, fitness allowing, all but guaranteed to start every game at Palace and Liverpool cannot offer the same assurance. But it would also mean that Palace miss out on landing a fee for one of their star players, which means they could drop their asking price late on. That must be balanced with the prospect of losing both Guehi and Eberechi Eze in the same window. Palace would be reluctant to lose both in the same summer, just as they did not want to sell Guehi and Joachim Andersen, who left for Fulham, a year ago. The two sides to Isak's STRIKE story | Transfers Exposed Asked about Guehi's future last weekend, chairman Steve Parish said: "For players of that calibre to leave on a free, it's a problem for us unfortunately. "We had another bid [for Guehi] in January but that was a different situation. "We'll just have to see what happens. But, you know, it needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind." Palace manager Oliver Glasner insisted last week that Guehi had not asked to leave the club this summer.

Jude Bellingham shows true colours with response to brutal James Maddison injury blow
James Maddison could miss the entirety of the 2025/26 season with Tottenham and England after undergoing surgery on a serious knee injury sustained in a pre-season friendly Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham called James Maddison to offer his support after the Tottenham midfielder underwent surgery on a serious knee injury. Maddison sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in Spurs' pre-season draw against Newcastle in South Korea earlier this month. He has since gone under the knife and is expected to miss the majority, if not all, of the 2025/26 season. The 28-year-old said he was 'heartbroken' by the timing of the setback, describing it as the 'lowest low I've ever had'. But he was cheered up by a Facetime call from his England team-mate Bellingham while he lay in a hospital bed. Sharing a screenshot of the call, showing both of them smiling, Maddison captioned it 'some fella, for one fella the sheriff.' Maddison has injured the same knee that ruled him out of Tottenham's Europa League final win over Manchester United in May. Having won his last England cap in September 2024, he is now facing an uphill battle to make Thomas Tuchel's squad for the 2026 World Cup. Posting a picture of him with his three children in hospital, Maddison wrote: 'Lowest low I've ever had. Heartbroken at the fact this injury has occurred at this time in my career. With the Super Cup tomorrow, the Premier League season on the horizon, the exciting Champions League campaign & it being a World Cup year for England it all feels very very cruel but nevertheless the ACL reconstruction surgery was successful. 'To all my close friends and family, your support and love means absolutely everything to me. To those of you who have gone out of your way to message on social media platforms in support of me and my recovery even when we don't know each other personally, I appreciate you all more than you'll ever know so thank you. 'And lastly to those of you who doubt, hate & mock. You truly motivate me to levels I didn't know I had inside of me so again, thank you. See you all on the other side.' Maddison joined Spurs from Leicester City in 2023 and was a key player for Ange Postecoglou's side last season, scoring 12 times in 45 appearances. His absence has now forced Spurs into the transfer market, with new boss Thomas Frank keen to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. Tottenham, who will be hoping for a huge improvement on their 17th-place finish last season, play Paris Saint-Germain in the Super Cup on Wednesday night. They will then kick off their domestic campaign against newly-promoted Burnley at home on Saturday.
