Shaquille O'Neal shares this ‘big' problem he has with Elon Musk's Teslas
Shaquille O'Neal
Basketball legend
Shaquille O'Neal
has reportedly ended his love for
Tesla
's electric vehicles. The revelation came during a recent episode of 'The Big Podcast' featuring comedian Karlous Miller, where the NBA Hall of Famer cited concerns over the vehicle's electric range as the primary reason for the switch.
During the podcast, Shaq explained his reasoning, stating, "I was into the Cyber Trucks, but they don't get enough, I want to say what's the word I'm looking for, electric mileage? Yeah, charger mileage."
According to O'Neal, the
Cybertruck
's energy consumption (measured in kWh) did not provide sufficient travel distance, ultimately leading him to seek an alternative.
He directly compared his experience with the Cybertruck with his recently-acquired
Cadillac ESCALADE IQ
. The celebrity revealed his new automotive preference, stating, 'Then I just got one of those IQs system Escalade today, I was in Vegas, I ain't have to charge up for four days.'
'My cyber truck here if I go downtown to work tonight and come back, my gonna be struggling to get back. Right now it says 267 if I go to Atlanta to the thing and come back, when I come back it ain't going to be…"
Shaquille O'Neal once liked Teslas
O'Neal, known as "Shaq" or "Big Diesel," expressed his disdain for Tesla vehicles prior to acquiring his first Cybertruck in September 2024. However, he had a notable change of heart towards the ELon Musk-woned company after encountering
Effortless Motors
, a company that seemingly played a role in his initial Cybertruck purchase.
This newfound appreciation, however, proved fleeting, lasting only for three Cyberbeast acquisitions. The range limitations of the Cybertruck ultimately led to Shaq's departure from the brand, after owning three of
Elon Musk
's highly anticipated vehicles.
It's worth noting that Effortless Motors was also involved in customising these Tesla vehicles for the former Los Angeles Lakers star.

Trump ‘frustrated' with Musk but ‘doesn't want a long-term feud': JD Vance
Updated 12 Jun 2025, 05:55 AM IST US Vice President JD Vance on Wednesday explained that President Donald Trump was frustrated with billionaire Elon Musk but doesn't want a long-term feud with him. Speaking to reporters, Vance said he spoke both Musk and Trump to ensure the Tesla boss remains supportive of the president. He also noted that the Trump team appreciates Musk's early efforts to help streamline government operations. Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt says, "The President acknowledged the statement that Elon put out this morning and he is appreciative of it and we are continuing to focus on the business of the American people" Musk on Wednesday said he regretted some of the social media posts he had made about Trump, saying they had gone "too far," a gesture the U.S. president described as "very nice," in the latest sign of a tentative reconciliation between the two.

Elon Musk Dials Trump After Feud Explodes Online; What Happened Next Surprised Everyone
New Delhi: Elon Musk made a quiet phone call to Donald Trump on June 9. The reason? A string of pointed posts the Tesla CEO had fired off on social media against the US president just days before. What started as online jabs had quickly turned into a media frenzy. Now, Musk was stepping back and saying he had gone too far. According to reports, the call did not come out of the blue. There had already been pressure from Trump's inner circle. Vice President JD Vance and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles had both reportedly reached out to Musk privately. Their message was to dial it down. The spat had spiraled beyond politics, and the stakes were getting higher. By early June 11, Musk wrote a message of regret on X. He did not mention which posts specifically, but in recent days, his feed had included digs at Trump's past, policy choices and even his ties to the controversial Epstein files. One of those posts was eventually taken down. The tone had shifted from critique to something more personal. I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 11, 2025 Back at the White House, the olive branch was not ignored. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that Trump appreciated Musk's message. There were no plans to revisit government contracts tied to Musk's companies – a signal that Washington is not looking to escalate things further. Trump, speaking later, sounded calm but mildly bruised. He said he was surprised by the attacks, but did not hold any grudges. 'No hard feelings,' he said in a podcast interview. Still, he admitted to being disappointed. The door to reconciliation is still open. But not swinging wide. The Musk-Trump feud was brief, loud and full of drama. It rattled supporters, confused pundits and stirred speculation. Musk, once seen as a wild card with Trump-leaning views, had taken a turn and then reversed it just as suddenly. Whether this is a temporary truce or the start of a larger break remains unclear. What is certain is that in the world of politics and tech, egos clash and headlines follow. This time, it ended with a phone call. But not necessarily with closure.

Here's when Elon Musk's Tesla is planning to launch its robo taxi service in US
Representative Image Elon Musk has announced a "tentative" launch date for Tesla's robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, set for June 22. The Tesla CEO made this announcement in a post shared on the social media platform X (earlier Twitter), indicating that he'll be travelling from Los Angeles to Austin for the kickoff. Previously, the tech billionaire mentioned a June launch window for the service. When inquired about the start of public rides for the service, Musk specified June 22 as the current plan. He also noted that the first driverless trip from the Tesla factory to a customer's house is scheduled to occur on his birthday, June 28. In his X post, Musk wrote: 'Tentatively, June 22. We are being super paranoid about safety, so the date could shift. First Tesla that drives itself from factory end of line all the way to a customer house is June 28.' The clip showed a black Model Y SUV, marked with a 'Robotaxi' logo, navigating an intersection and pausing for pedestrians, without a human driver inside. Musk said the pilot phase will be limited, starting with 10 to 20 vehicles equipped with a new 'unsupervised' version of Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) software. These initial tests will use the Model Y, rather than the upcoming CyberCab, which is scheduled for production next year. He added that the rollout will be 'geofenced,' meaning the robotaxis will only operate within specific areas, and Tesla employees will monitor them remotely. While some Tesla fans are excited by the launch in Austin, critics, particularly those concerned about road safety and Musk's political affiliations, have raised objections and are planning protests.
