Rich Eisen to anchor ESPN SportsCenter following Bengals-Commanders 'MNF' game
For the first time in more than 20 years, Rich Eisen is set to host the network's flagship sportscast on Monday, Aug. 18, following the Monday Night Football preseason game between the Washington Commanders and Cincinnati Bengals.
He will be joined on the set live from Los Angeles by ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes, according to a press release from the network.
Eisen gained national acclaim during his stint at ESPN from 1996 to 2003 before leaving to become one of the first employees when the NFL Network launched in November 2003.
The move comes on the heels of ESPN's announcement earlier this month of a non-binding agreement to "acquire NFL Network and certain other media assets woned and controlled by the NFL – including NFL's linear RedZone Channel, and NFL Fantasy – in exchange for a 10% equity stake in ESPN."
Eisen's return to ESPN was already in the works, even before the megamerger.
Plans were announced in May to move Eisen's popular three-hour weekday talk show from Roku to ESPN's new direct-to-consumer service.
The "Rich Eisen Show" will make its debut Sept. 2 on ESPN+ and Disney+ in its familiar noon to 3 p.m. ET time slot.
ESPN also says Eisen will make select appearances across ESPN studio programming going forward, while also retaining his prominent role at NFL Network.

Chiefs place Felix Anudike-Uzomah on injured reserve, ending the 2023 first-round pick's season
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs placed defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah on injured reserve Monday, ending the season for the 2023 first-round pick, who has struggled to live up to expectations following a standout career at Kansas State. The Chiefs also waived running back Elijah Young and signed defensive end Owen Carney and linebacker Xander Mueller. Anudike-Uzomah came out of high school in the Kansas City suburb of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and he was a popular pick when the Chiefs selected him 32nd overall in a draft they hosted in 2023. But he has just three sacks and eight tackles for loss over 34 games his first two seasons in the league, and now he will miss the upcoming season altogether. 'That's a tough thing,' Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. 'I mean, he's worked hard. We'll see where it goes. I can't tell you how long it's going to be. It's disappointing for him because he's worked so stinking hard.' Anudike-Uzomah had been buried on the depth chart behind starting defensive ends George Karlaftis and Mike Danna, veteran pass rusher Charles Omenihu and Ashton Gillotte, a third-round pick out of Louisville in April's draft. The Chiefs returned to their practice facility Monday following a preseason loss in Seattle last Friday night. Among those missing the workout were defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott (ankle), defensive backs Mike Edwards (hamstring) and Nazeeh Johnson (shoulder), linebacker Jack Cochrane (knee) and wide receiver Jalen Royals (knee). In a bit of positive injury news, Marquise Brown returned to the field Monday after dealing with an ankle that has sidelined him for much of training camp. Brown has sat out both of the Chiefs' preseason games, and Reid declined to say whether he would be on the field for their final exhibition game against the Bears on Friday night. Kansas City opens the regular season against the Chargers on Sept. 5 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. 'Hollywood (Brown) did a little work yesterday, which was good. He'll get a little more today and then we'll see,' Reid said. 'We'll see how he progresses through this thing. But it's not a matter of wanting to be out there. He wants to do it. We're just taking it slow. We don't want any setbacks with this going forward here.' ___ AP NFL:

Canadian Little Leaguer had a brutally honest response about meeting Juan Soto
Misha Lee who is representing Canada in the #LLWS isn't the biggest fan of Juan Soto. 😂 One of the cooler parts about the Little League Classic is that the Little Leaguers get an opportunity to interact with big-league players and watch an MLB game up close. But when it comes to Juan Soto, one Canadian Little Leaguer wasn't exactly rushing to meet the Mets star. During Sunday's Little League World Series action, Canada defeated Australia, 12-0. And during an ESPN interview ahead of the evening's Little League Classic, Australia's Issei Hamano was asked which player he was hoping to meet. He said Juan Soto. Then, Canada's Misha Lee was asked if he also wanted to meet Soto. And, well, I don't think anyone expected the response. "Eh, he's kind of overrated," Lee said. He added that he was hoping to meet the Mariners' Cal Raleigh instead. And hey, he chose wisely. Raleigh hit his league-leading 47th home run on Sunday. Soto finished the night 0 for 2 with three walks in the Mets' 7-3 win.

Dolphins host 3 offensive linemen for tryouts
The Miami Dolphins hosted three offensive linemen for tryouts Monday, according to the NFL's daily transaction report. Undrafted rookies Elijah Ellis and Ozzie Hutchinson, along with third-year guard Mason Taylor spent the day in Miami. Ellis and Hutchinson joined the Los Angeles Chargers and Baltimore Ravens earlier this year after they weren't picked in the 2025 NFL draft, but both were waived in training camp. Taylor, 25, spent his rookie year with the Washington Commanders and had stints on the Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts practice squads in 2024. Earlier this year he played for the UFL's DC Defenders. The Dolphins are dealing with a few injuries along the offensive line with starting right tackle Austin Jackson currently sidelined along with backups Liam Eichenberg and Andrew Meyer. While head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters Monday that he remains convinced Jackson will be ready for Week 1, depth is thin behind the starting group. Miami also reportedly brought in four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Matthew Judon on a visit with the intention of adding him to the roster, although he didn't appear on the transaction wire.
