Exclusive - Sheetal Maulik on being a part of Meri Bhavya Life: I'm happy that it's not some typical show
Actress
Sheetal Maulik
, who plays the role of
Priya Jaiswal
in
Meri Bhavya Life
, says that she loves the title of the show. She adds that the storyline is very apt for what is happening in society today.
'I loved the title and I'm happy that it's not some typical show. I am looking for
bhavya
love from the audience too. The storyline is absolutely relevant in these times … in today's world where
confidence
is only being slim here, we have our Bhavya who is sweet, beautiful, confident and talented.
She stands for herself without fear. We need to boost this confidence in today's youth that talent is more important than looks and they should strive for the right thing … I am absolutely privileged to be a part of this wonderful show,' she says.
Talking about
body shaming
, she says, 'Who doesn't face body shaming these days everyone who is chubby faces it. The important part is that people are aware of this and talk about it. The show is actually associated with issues where being slim is everything.
People go to any extent to stay slim. This kind of show is needed in these times.'
Sharing more about her role, she says, 'I am playing Priya Jaiswal, the bahu of the family, Rishank's (the lead of the show) aunt. She is mean and insecure and wants to be good to everyone just to have a place in the family. I am sure there will be more colours to my character when the story unfolds. I love playing with this charcoal.'
She adds, 'Obviously, I don't relate to the character.
She is mean and insecure, unlike me. But yes, I love playing someone, who is not like me, with conviction. It gives me an idea of where I stand as an actor.'
Talking about being associated with Sphere Origin, she says, 'I have worked with them briefly before on a project and my experience then and now has been wonderful. They are professionals and so am I … so I think it's gonna be a long association I hope and I wish.'

She adds, "Every small step we take makes a big difference. We need to save the environment because it's the foundation of life on Earth, providing essential resources like air, water and food. However, human activities are degrading the environment at an alarming rate, threatening our very existence." Sheetal says that even simple actions can make a significant difference. "For instance, ditching plastic bottles and opting for reusable ones can reduce plastic waste and pollution. Similarly, using public transport, carpooling, or cycling can decrease air pollution and carbon emissions ," she says. Sheetal, who has worked in shows like Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, Barsatein – Mausam Pyaar Ka, Suhaagan, Deewaniyat says, "Reducing meat consumption, using energy-efficient appliances, and recycling can also contribute to environmental conservation. By incorporating these habits into our daily lives, we can collectively mitigate the damage and work towards a more sustainable future." Shifting the onus on human beings to understand the issue, she says, "People fail to understand that our body's internal environment is as important as is the external. Prisha Dhatwalia, who is currently making waves with her debut television show Meri Bhavya Life, is winning hearts with her natural performance and endearing presence on screen. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now While her portrayal is receiving praise, what's also shaping her journey in a beautiful way is the strong camaraderie she shares with her co-stars—especially with actor . Opening up about her connection with the cast, Prisha shared, 'I bond with everyone very naturally, to be honest—touch wood. Whether it's my onscreen family or Rishank, who is my co-actor Karan Vohra, I gel with him very naturally.' Although there's an age gap between them, Prisha shared that the bond she has with Karan is truly special. 'I don't even know where it comes from, especially considering we're not from the same age group, but still, there's something very special in the connection. I see a good friend and strong support system in him,' she added. Karan, according to Prisha, has become something of a mentor and guide. 'There are times when I sit with him during our breaks, and we talk about so many things. He shares a lot about the industry, how things work, and how to handle different situations on set. He's just amazing.' While Karan may be a pillar of support, Prisha's warmth extends to the rest of the cast too. 'I also bond really well with my on-screen mother, father, sister, and, of course, Hiten Sir. These are the people I mostly spend time with on set, and I always feel very charged up and positive when I'm around them.' Still, she admits that her deepest connection is with Karan due to the amount of screen time they share. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now 'So honestly, I can't name just one person. But since Karan is my co-actor and someone I spend a lot of screen time with, I feel I can really rely on him. He fits in perfectly, and we share a great comfort level. So please don't give me a diplomatic tag (haha), but it's true that I genuinely have a very good relationship with most of my co-actors. They are all such good energy-givers, and I love them all equally,' she laughed. For Prisha, these relationships are more than just off-screen camaraderie—they deeply influence her performance. 'My bond with everyone on set has grown stronger over time, especially because of the kind of response they gave to my performance and the valuable inputs they shared. It really helped me tap into my character better,' she reflected. One of the most impactful experiences for her has been performing with senior actor Iqbal Khan, who plays her father in the show. 'Whenever I do my scenes with Iqbal Sir, it feels so real. He's such a natural actor that it honestly feels like I'm talking to my real father. That kind of energy and passion from a co-actor makes all the difference.' As a debutante, Prisha approaches her work with humility and curiosity. 'Since this is my debut show, I'm here mainly to absorb and learn as much as I can. I'm like that little kid who would sit next to a senior actor just to listen to them talk and learn from their experience. Be it Kruttika Ma'am, Hiten Tejwani Sir, or Disha Ma'am — I enjoy learning from them all.' Summing up her experience so far, she said, 'I have a lot of respect for each and every person working around me, both as artists and individuals. I keep learning from them every day, and I always try to incorporate those learnings into my work.' With her grounded mindset and emotional intelligence, Prisha Dhatwalia is not just embracing fame—she's building a career rooted in connection, gratitude, and passion.

Sheetal Maulik: Jewellery reflects your personality; that's why I started designing my own
In the current unpredictable entertainment industry, everyone wants to explore alternate sources of income. Television actress Sheetal Maulik, currently seen in Meri Bhavya Life, decided to turn her creative instincts into a side business of designing and making jewellery. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Sheetal began this journey during the COVID-19 lockdown, thanks to a nudge from her mother-in-law. Sheetal recalls, 'My daughter was very young at that time, and I wasn't working much then. There weren't many shows that were being shot. So my mother-in-law suggested I keep myself busy and start something of my own. That's when I thought of this idea, and she even connected me with people in Calcutta who helped me with materials and designs. She really encouraged me to do this.' The actress further adds, 'Being a woman, I've always loved jewellery. But I could never find exactly what I wanted to wear, so I thought — why not design it myself?' she says. 'I learned how to make jewellery from the internet. With a little creativity and some guidance, I figured it out. Once I started wearing them, my friends began asking for pieces too.' A passion turned into a business for the actress. She shares, 'Orders started coming in, and I earned a good amount. Though acting takes most of my time now, I still get a lot of orders. It's not just craft, it's an emotion. It reflects your personality. When you wear something you made, it feels special.'
