Nadeera is not the singer arrested for suspicion of immoral activity

Yahoo13-02-2025
13 Feb - The Selangor Islamic Department (JAIS) has denied rumours about Nadeera Zaini being the celebrity that was recently arrested for suspicion of engaging in immoral activities with a member of the opposite sex.
In a statement to the media, a JAIS rep confirmed the arrest that was reported earlier, but said that the person in question was not the "Bukan Lagi Kita" singer.
The rep, however, declined to share any more details about the arrest.
It was on 12 February that it was revealed that a singer and former reality show contestant had been arrested alongside her boyfriend who is revealed to be a married man.
Nadeera's manager Acap had since dismissed the rumour, saying that the singer had been busy rehearsing for the upcoming "Anugerah Juara Lagu", which will be held on 16 February.
"The news has disrupted Nadeera's focus because people kept calling her just to make sure," he said.

Ning Baizura saddens by Ross Ariffin's passing

4 Aug - Ning Baizura recently expressed her sadness over the news of Ross Ariffin's passing, stating that the composer's death is a great loss to the local music industry. The 50-year-old singer said that Ross was a highly talented composer who had contributed significantly to her artistic journey, and expressed, "He was a very gifted artiste. I am deeply indebted to him for generously giving me several songs [in my early career], including the classic 'Kau dan Aku', which remains evergreen to this day." "Kau dan Aku is a very special song to me. After 32 years, I still sing it. In fact, just last night, I had the chance to perform it," she said. It is noted that the song won the Pop Rock category at the Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL) music awards in 1995. Reflecting on the late composer, Ning described Ross, real name was Roslan Ariffin Jamil, as a quiet person who preferred solitude. "Our relationship wasn't very close because he was rather shy and liked to keep to himself. We never went out together. He seemed like an introvert, but I greatly respected his work. When I heard of his passing, I was very saddened... He had been suffering for a long time," she said. Earlier, news of Ross' passing was announced by the Minister of Communications, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, via a post on Facebook. Among his well-known songs include Aishah's "Kemaafan Dendam Yang Terindah", Fauziah Latiff's "Dia", and Liza Aziz's "Semalam Ku Tolak Ke Tepi". He was 63. (Photo Source: Ross IG, Ning Baizura IG)

‘Queen's Night' probe widens: Police warn remaining eHati participants to come forward or face arrest

SHAH ALAM, July 16 — Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan has urged members of the public who took part in the eHati 'Queen's Night' marriage motivation programme to give their statements at the Shah Alam District Police Headquarters (IPD) as soon as possible. He said they have identified around 50 participants, of whom 30 have been interviewed. The remaining individuals have been asked to come forward or face arrest. 'We have already recorded statements from several participants. However, there are still individuals, including public sector employees, who were involved and have yet to step forward. We will not hesitate to arrest them,' Hussein said. The case is being investigated under Section 209 (false claims), Section 14 (minor offences), and Section 294 of the Penal Code, which includes offences committed under the guise of religion. Among those arrested are six individuals — four women and two men — believed to be married couples who participated in the so-called Queen's Night session, a four-day, three-night retreat offered under 'Package B' of the eHati programme. Queen's Night reportedly involved nudity and lewd acts. Police have also seized various items from the event, including liquids believed to have been used during ritual-like activities. These materials have been sent to the Ministry of Health for further analysis to determine whether they contain banned substances or drugs. 'This programme has been organised before, but this is the first time we're seeing something like a 'Queen's Night' session. That element is new and is central to our investigation,' said Hussein. The programme was organised by a company known as eHati, which offers corporate motivational and self-development courses. Police clarified that participants are not official members of eHati and that investigations are focusing on both facilitators and participants. Authorities are also working to determine whether the event violated any religious sensitivities or misused religious elements to manipulate attendees. 'Not everyone who attended the programme is Muslim; individuals of other races were present as well,' said Hussein. Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari was reported to have asked the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) to look into allegations of immoral activities during the organisation of eHati programmes at a convention centre here. JAIS director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad confirmed the case is being investigated under Section 7 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Selangor) Enactment 1995.

Amir Jahari not ready for a large-scale concert

12 Jun - Although he has been performing for 14 years, Amir Jahari doesn't see himself holding a big concert anytime soon. The singer-songwriter, who is having his first showcase this coming August, said that he has actually declined three different offers from organisers for a large-scale concert after winning Anugerah Juara Lagu two years ago. "To me, although I have won AJL, I am still not confident that it can pull in audiences to attend my concert. In order to do so, I think one should at least have five albums or 20 original songs including hits," he said. The singer said that he only has three albums for now, and only five songs that fans would request whenever he performs. As for his upcoming showcase, "Ubat Hati Ubat Jiwa" to be held at FINAS, Amir, real name Mohamad Amirullah Jahari, said that he is happy that 50 percent of the tickets are already sold. "I trust that the tickets will sell out by then. The showcase is held for 500 of my loyal fans who appreciate my music," he added. (Photo Source: Amir Jahari IG)
