Motorcyclist dies in crash near Aeropod flyover

Published on: Sun, May 04, 2025 Text Size: KOTA KINABALU: A motorcyclist died in a road accident at Jalan Kepayan near the Aeropod flyover here around 10.25pm on Saturday. District police chief ACP Kasim Muda said the initial investigation revealed the victim, riding a Honda motorcycle from Putatan towards the city centre, had lost control and crashed. He sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer at 10.33pm. Police have opened an investigation paper under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and urge witnesses to come forward. (Pexels pic) PETALING JAYA: A man has refused to pay the RM1,500 bail imposed by the Batu Pahat magistrates' court on his 16-year-old son who pleaded guilty to raping a female acquaintance earlier this month. The 40-year-old man said this was to teach his son a lesson, after the boy's plea before magistrate Arun Noval Dass. Advertisement Berita Harian reported that the man, who accompanied his son to court for the charge under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, left his son there without paying the bail. The boy was accused of raping his 15-year-old acquaintance at a house in Batu Pahat between 4pm and 5.30pm on June 2. The section provides for up to 20 years' imprisonment and a whipping, upon conviction. According to the police report lodged by the boy's father, the boy committed the offence while his mother was at work. Advertisement On the day of the incident, his 41-year-old mother came home early to find the girl's slippers outside the house. She knocked on his door several times before it was opened, and found the girl in his bedroom. A police investigation found both the accused and the victim admitting to having had sex 16 to 18 times. Aruz Driver: Fight with Wife Caused Wrong-Way Driving
A Perodua Aruz driver claimed that an argument with his wife caused him to mistakenly enter the wrong lane and drive against traffic flow along Jalan Skudai-Pantai Lido in Johor Bahru yesterday. Johor Bahru South district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat stated that the incident went viral on social media before being detected by authorities at 9.10pm last night. According to him, the 34-year-old driver was arrested after surrendering himself at the Johor Bahru South Traffic police station on the same day. 'Investigations revealed the incident occurred at 1.41am yesterday, when a blue Perodua Aruz was spotted driving against the traffic flow on the said route. 'The complainant informed that during the incident, he had a disagreement with his wife which caused him to lose driving focus and enter the opposite lane,' he told Kosmo, today. Raub added that urine screening tests found the driver was free from any drug and alcohol abuse. 'The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving,' he said. Earlier, a video recording posted by Community Roda Johor, lasting one minute and 32 seconds went viral, showing a blue Perodua Aruz driving in the opposite lane on Jalan Skudai-Pantai Lido.
