Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor's OTT film Nadaaniyan received a lot of harsh criticism after its release. The film was brutally trolled on social media and became a part of memes. Directed by Shauna Gautam, it was produced by Karan Johar's Dharmatic Entertainment. In a recent interview, the filmmaker reacted to the widespread negativity around Nadaaniyan and urged people to move on.
During a podcast with Suchin Mehrotra, Karan stated that the views of a project don't matter, if it's being watched for the 'wrong reasons'. 'As a creative artist, as a collaborator, no film that receives criticism ever makes me happy. How can it? Even if a gazillion people watched it and it wasn't liked, it was watched for the wrong reasons,' he said.
The filmmaker added, 'You cannot! I am sorry, I will be very stupid to be deluded about the fact that it didn't get the love, did not get liked, it was dissed, it was b**ched, and maybe a bit more than it should have. I am like, 'Yaar, let it go' after a point. It's a film you didn't like, move on, can you?'

Complaining about how content creators took advantage of the situation and made several videos while trolling Nadaaniyan, Karan shared, 'There were YouTube creators and content creators who were making four videos on it, you made one, right? You know you're getting the hits again and again, because bashing Nadaaniyan was like the fashion of that moment. It was really making people kind of go and watch your YouTube video and they were enjoying it. It was celebrated negatively and that does happen sometimes.'
He continued, 'That put aside, I have no way to tell you that it got massive numbers so I am happy about it. No, I can't be happy about it. It didn't get the love. We have to accept it, acknowledge it, move on from it, and do better next time. That's all. How can I say that this show or movie is amazing because so many million people watched it? But if it didn't get the love, you are going to feel it in your heart.'
Karan Johar revealed that his team has taken notes and would work on it. However, the audience should also move on from Nadaaniyan. 'All of us are very self aware, it's a part of my personality type. Will I go and apologise for it? No, I will probably speak with the team, take stock of it, and do that. We have dealt with it internally and that's all we really want to speak about it. But now, can you move on to the next bad show or film? Leave us alone. We have moved on and so should you,' he concluded.
Besides Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor, Nadaaniyan also starred Suniel Shetty, Mahima Chaudhary, Jugal Hansraj, Dia Mirza, and Archana Puran Singh.

Rajinikanth's 'Coolie' didn't deserve an 'A' certificate, says Producer Elred Kumar

Chennai: Lauding director Lokesh Kanakaraj's action extravaganza 'Coolie', featuring Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead, one of Tamil film industry's well-known producers Elred Kumar has now expressed surprise and displeasure at the film having been given an 'A' certificate by the Censor Board. Taking to his X timeline soon after having watched the film, the producer wrote, "Watched #Coolie @Dir_Lokesh fantastic work. #Rajini sir amazes me, Superstar is always a Superstar! @anirudhofficial elevates the film to another level. Other language films with more violence get U/A, yet #Coolie gets an A? This film didn't deserve that. Something fuzzy, Tamil film fraternity needs to step up." Producer Elred Kumar isn't the only one to have expressed this opinion. Scores of other viewers who watched the film too have expressed a similar opinion. In fact, the decision of the Censor Board to grant an 'A' certificate to the film raised many eyebrows, even before the film's release. The development even had a section of the audience concerned. Family audiences and children form a considerable chunk of actor Rajinikanth's fan base and Coolie getting an 'A' certificate meant that families would be unable to take their children to theatres to watch the eagerly-awaited film. However, despite the A certificate, the film has performed exceptionally well, setting the cash registers to ring at the box office. The film's makers, Sun Pictures, claimed that the film had made a worldwide gross of Rs 151 crores, the highest ever day one worldwide gross made by a Tamil film. Coolie also became the highest overseas Day 1 grosser among Tamil films, making over 8.75 million Dollars. Coolie, which seems to be living up to the huge expectations from it, has made headlines by becoming the highest overseas procurement for a Tamil film to date. Rumours doing the rounds in the industry also suggest that director Lokesh Kanakaraj's much awaited action entertainer has reached audiences in over a 100 countries around the world. Hamsini Entertainment, a key player in international film distribution, is backing the film's global distribution. Apart from Rajinikanth, the film also stars stalwarts from the Indian film industry like Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir and Shruti Haasan. Anirudh has composed the music for the film, marking his fourth consecutive film with director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Cinematography for the film is by Girish Gangadharan and editing is by Philomin Raj. Interestingly, director Lokesh Kanakaraj had disclosed that 'Coolie', which is Rajinikanth's 171st film, will be a stand alone film and not a part of his Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU).

War 2 worldwide box office collection day 3: Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR film again loses to Coolie, still crosses ₹200 crore

After a revival on Independence Day, War 2, Yash Raj Films' latest spy thriller again saw a dip on day 3, Saturday. The film, which stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, did not get a spectacular opening, but recovered on the day after that. On Saturday, it was business as usual once again for the film, which has been hampered by poor reviews and average word of mouth. Despite that, the I-Day momentum meant War 2 was able to cross ₹200 crore worldwide, inching closer to breaking even, which is its biggest goal now. War 2 worldwide box office collection: Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan play Indian agents who face off in Ayan Mukerji's film. War 2 worldwide box office update War 2 earned ₹142 crore net ( ₹170 crore gross) in India in its first three days. On Saturday, the film earned ₹33.25 crore, down a worrying 42% from its Friday haul of ₹57.35 crore. Both the Hindi and Telugu versions of the film are down by over 40% despite the weekend. Internationally, the film has fared well, earning just over $5 million ( ₹45 crore) overseas. This gives it a worldwide gross of ₹215 crore in three days. Given that the Ayan Mukerji film has a reported landing cost of around ₹400 crore, it still has a long way to go before it breaks even. On Friday, War 2 had overtaken Rajinikanth's Coolie in net domestic earnings on the day. Both films released on Thursday, with Coolie taking the early lead. But War 2 turned the tables on Friday. But on Saturday, Coolie once again edged ahead, earning ₹38.60 crore to War 2's ₹33.50 crore Hrithik and NTR react to War 2's box office collections But War 2 is still not dead in the water. A decent Sunday may just give the film some momentum going forward. The film's cast and crew are hopeful of that. On Saturday, the two leads of the film took to their respective social media handles to thank fans for the love they have shown the film. Hrithik wrote on his Instagram: "Witnessing all your cheers & celebrations in cinema halls makes my heart fuller!" Similarly, NTR wrote, "I am seeing your love for #War2 and I love you back for it... Incredible to see the public support for our film, which we made with a lot of passion. Let's gooo!" War 2 also stars Kiara Advani in a pivotal role. The film is part of the larger YRF Spy Universe, which includes Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Salman Khan's Tiger series. War 2's post-credits scene features Bobby Deol setting up the Spy Universe's next release, Alpha.
