The drama series hails from creator Brad Caleb Kane (It: Welcome to Derry), who will also write, showrun and exec produce. Other EPs include A24; Victor Miller, who wrote the screenplay for the franchise's original 1980 film; Miller's copyright attorney, Marc Toberoff; Robert M. Barsamian; Robert P. Barsamian; Stuart Manashil; and Tyson Bidner. First announced in October 2022, the project will mark one of A24's first major IP-driven efforts amid a recent move expand in a more commercial direction.
Comprising 12 slashers, first for Paramount and then for New Line, the Friday the 13th franchise is one of the most iconic and enduring horror series in film history. Directed by Sean S. Cunningham, the original film introduced audiences to the scenic Camp Crystal Lake, where a young camper named Jason (Ari Lehman) has not long ago tragically drowned due to counselor negligence. Seeking revenge for the death is his mother (Betsy Palmer), who processes her grief by brutally murdering a band of camp counselors. In subsequent installments, Jason himself emerges as one of horror's most recognizable villains, a seemingly immortal, hockey mask-wearing killer who is no friend to teenagers stepping into his domain.
Not the first TV series to expand on the franchise, Crystal Lake follows Friday the 13th: The Series, which aired for three seasons in syndication from 1987-1990. It will be the first project affiliated with Friday the 13th to emerge since a 2009 reboot of the original film from New Line. To date, the films' impact on pop culture has also been felt through the proliferation of novels, comic books, video games, and merchandise pegged to the franchise.
Most recently appearing on Netflix's Forever, Catlett is also known for roles on shows like Constellation (Apple TV+), True Story (Netflix), and Black Lightning (The CW), among others. Notable film credits include Lionsgate's horror thriller Never Let Go opposite Halle Berry, Universal's ballerina monster movie Abigail, A.V. Rockwell's Sundance prize-winner A Thousand and One, and Angel Manuel Soto's Charm City Kings. The actor is repped by IAG, Anonymous Content, and Granderson Des Rochers.

How To Trade Roku Stock Ahead Of Q2 Earnings?

Photo Illustration by Omar Marques/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images Roku (NASDAQ:ROKU) is expected to announce its Q2 2025 earnings in early August. We anticipate that the company will report a net loss of approximately $0.16 per share, with revenue projected at $1.07 billion, reflecting an increase of about 11% compared to the previous year. This growth is anticipated to be fueled by increased video advertising revenues and distribution activities related to streaming services. Despite the broader economy facing challenges due to tariff-related uncertainties with key trading partners, the streaming industry seems to be relatively robust. Streaming leader Netflix recently released better-than-expected Q2 2025 results, showcasing a 16% growth in revenue, which suggests that the demand for streaming entertainment remains strong. However, Roku may still encounter some obstacles. The company has a significant hardware segment and licensing agreements with smart TV manufacturers, some of whom are based in China, which could make it vulnerable to potential supply chain disruptions and cost pressures. Currently, the company has a market capitalization of $13 billion. Over the past twelve months, revenue reached $4.3 billion, but it suffered operational losses totaling $-204 million along with a net income of $-106 million. Much will hinge on how the results compare to consensus expectations, but understanding historical trends could increase the odds in your favor if you are an event-driven trader. There are two ways to approach this: familiarize yourself with historical probabilities and position yourself ahead of the earnings announcement, or examine the relationship between immediate and medium-term returns following earnings and adjust your position accordingly after the earnings have been revealed. If you are looking for upside with less volatility than individual stocks, the Trefis High Quality portfolio offers an alternative – it has outperformed the S&P 500 and produced returns over 91% since its launch. For instance, if 1D and 5D demonstrate the strongest correlation, a trader can position themselves "long" for the following 5 days if the 1D post-earnings return is positive. Below is correlation data reflecting 5-year and 3-year (more recent) trends. The correlation 1D_5D indicates the correlation between 1D post-earnings returns and the following 5D returns. Relationship Between 1D, 5D, and 21D Historical Returns Is There Any Correlation With Peer Earnings? Occasionally, the performance of peers can impact the stock reaction post-earnings. In fact, market pricing may commence prior to the earnings announcement. Here is some historical data comparing Roku's post-earnings performance with that of peer stocks that reported before Roku. For a fair comparison, peer stock returns also reflect post-earnings one-day (1D) returns. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's $100M Netflix deal won't be renewed

Netflix will not be renewing their eye-popping $100 million deal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed the lucrative deal with the streamer in 2020 to earn some cash after quitting royal life and moving to the US. But the underwhelming performance of their projects is expected to bring their brief partnership with the streaming giant to an end when the contract expires in September, The Sun reports. 5 Netflix will not be renewing their eye-popping $100 million deal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. 'Netflix were clever in that they got a hell of a lot of viewers for the first documentary series, and knew, realistically, it would prove the zenith of content from the Montecito pair,' the insider went on. 'They're not unhappy with how things turned out — they got those initial hits, and produced one of the most talked-about shows of all time.' The source added that execs felt the 'content got weaker' — but insisted that there is 'no animosity from either side.' 5 The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed the lucrative deal with the streamer in 2020 to earn some cash after quitting royal life and moving to the US. Travis Kelce jokes about pulling 'Pretty Woman' move on Taylor Swift

Kansas City football player Travis Kelce knows he's a lucky guy. The three-time Super Bowl winner has been dating international pop star Taylor Swift for two years and shown her support with his actions -- traveling all over the globe to see her perform -- and with his words, heaping praise on the singer whenever he can. On this week's episode of New Heights (the podcast Travis records with his brother, Jason) the duo chatted about the iconic movie Pretty Woman and if the roles were reversed. Quickly, Jason pointed out that his little brother is almost doing that right now. "Travis, you're living Pretty Man right now." The duo couldn't help but break down laughing, especially as Travis added "I'm wearing nothing but a tie when Taylor comes home." Travis Kelce actually met Pretty Woman star Julia Roberts at the third night of Swift's Eras Tour shows in Dublin, something he pointed out on the podcast. "That's why me and Julia Roberts, when I met Julia, it felt like we were the same person. So cool." Kelce has a busy end to his summer coming up as he has recently reported to training camp in Kansas City and has a cameo in this week's Happy Gilmore 2. The sequel to the hilarious 1996 Adam Sandler golf comedy hits Netflix on July 25.
