The drama series hails from creator Brad Caleb Kane (It: Welcome to Derry), who will also write, showrun and exec produce. Other EPs include A24; Victor Miller, who wrote the screenplay for the franchise's original 1980 film; Miller's copyright attorney, Marc Toberoff; Robert M. Barsamian; Robert P. Barsamian; Stuart Manashil; and Tyson Bidner. First announced in October 2022, the project will mark one of A24's first major IP-driven efforts amid a recent move expand in a more commercial direction.
Comprising 12 slashers, first for Paramount and then for New Line, the Friday the 13th franchise is one of the most iconic and enduring horror series in film history. Directed by Sean S. Cunningham, the original film introduced audiences to the scenic Camp Crystal Lake, where a young camper named Jason (Ari Lehman) has not long ago tragically drowned due to counselor negligence. Seeking revenge for the death is his mother (Betsy Palmer), who processes her grief by brutally murdering a band of camp counselors. In subsequent installments, Jason himself emerges as one of horror's most recognizable villains, a seemingly immortal, hockey mask-wearing killer who is no friend to teenagers stepping into his domain.
Not the first TV series to expand on the franchise, Crystal Lake follows Friday the 13th: The Series, which aired for three seasons in syndication from 1987-1990. It will be the first project affiliated with Friday the 13th to emerge since a 2009 reboot of the original film from New Line. To date, the films' impact on pop culture has also been felt through the proliferation of novels, comic books, video games, and merchandise pegged to the franchise.
Most recently appearing on Netflix's Forever, Catlett is also known for roles on shows like Constellation (Apple TV+), True Story (Netflix), and Black Lightning (The CW), among others. Notable film credits include Lionsgate's horror thriller Never Let Go opposite Halle Berry, Universal's ballerina monster movie Abigail, A.V. Rockwell's Sundance prize-winner A Thousand and One, and Angel Manuel Soto's Charm City Kings. The actor is repped by IAG, Anonymous Content, and Granderson Des Rochers.

Mikey Madison in Talks to Replace Sydney Sweeney in A24 Edgar Allen Poe Drama THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH — GeekTyrant

Best Actress Oscar winner Mikey Madison ( Anora ) is in talks to replace Sydney Sweeney in A24's feature adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe's The Masque of the Red Death . No official deal is done yet. The film is being billed as a 'wildly revisionist' take on the short story from filmmaker Charlie Polinger. Madison will reportedly portray twin sisters in a world where a mad prince (Prince Prospero in the original 1842 short story) welcomes wealthy elites into his castle as plague spreads across the land. The long-lost twin, who lives among the lower class, enters the castle in what is an atmosphere of drugs, sex and game of thrones as Prospero throws a masquerade ball in seven rooms, each decorated with a different color. In the original short, a mysterious figure enters the castle disguised as a Red Death victim. Prospero dies after confronting the stranger, along with many other guests. Sweeney reportedly stepped back due to scheduling conflicts. She is currently in production on Season 3 of HBO's Euphoria and Legendary's feature take of Japanese IP Gundam this fall. Polinger is currently in post on his next film The Plague , which was made independently and stars Joel Edgerton. Madison is also attached to Reptilia , the latest movie from filmmaker Alejandro Landes Echavarría. The film will co-star Kirsten Dunst and is based on a script by Landes Echavarría and Duke Merriman. Masque of the Red Death will shoot in either Q4 of this year or Q1 2026. via: Deadline

Kylie Kelce Jokes She Has to Carry Around Two ChapSticks Because Daughter Benny Uses One as Her 'Wake Up'

Kylie Kelce is revealing the real reason she keeps two ChapSticks on her at all times — and it's because of her daughter Bennett The podcaster says her daughter uses it for her makeup – or rather, her "wake-up" Kylie shares her four kids with husband Jason KelceKylie Kelce is happy to make sacrifices for her kids — but she draws the line at sharing ChapStick. At the beginning of this week's episode of her podcast Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce, the podcaster, 33, shared that she has to carry around two tubes of ChapSticks in her purse at all times because her daughter Bennett "Benny" uses it for her makeup — or rather, her "wake up." "Not gonna lie. I have two ChapSticks in my purse at any given time. One is mine, and the other one is Benny's 'wake up,'" Kelce says. "That's right. Her 'wake up.'" "And as soon as I use my ChapStick, I will immediately be prompted, 'I hab some?' It's an attempt to not have to share my ChapStick with those grimy, dirty little lips. Ew," she continues. "We've all seen the food crusted on your face, Benny. I don't wanna share my ChapStick with you." Kylie shares her daughters Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and Finnley "Finn," whom she welcomed in March, with husband Jason Kelce. Elsewhere in the podcast, Kylie spoke with guest Bindi Irwin and shared that Jason's brother Travis Kelce is 'definitely king of the funcles." 'They just know that when he comes, he's gonna lock in,' Kylie told Bindi of her kids. 'He's gonna give them his undivided attention. They're gonna be like, can you get on the floor? And he's gonna be, like, already down there.' She added that she takes advantage of Travis' visits, using them to get in some basic self care. 'It is really nice to have someone who is fresh and fun,' she said. 'You got this. I'm gonna have a warm cup of coffee for five minutes and maybe have a shower because that would be nice.' Earlier this week, during an episode of his podcast New Heights with Travis, Jason spoke about how he'd just opened up the pool in his backyard for the summer. As Jason is speaking with Travis, one of his daughters interrupted him to ask if he's going in the pool that day. "Am I going in the pool today? Yes. I turned the heater on. The pool will not be cold," Jason said to his little one, turning to Travis and the microphone to say, "F------ bougie." "Well, that's what happens if you raise those suburban kids, Jason," Travis teased. "You're right. You're right. I told Kylie [Kelce] we should have raised them in West Philly, and she was like, 'There's no chance,' " Jason said. "Oh yeah. That's how you get cultured right there," Travis quipped. Meghan Markle snubbed by A-list singer who turned down invite to appear on Netflix show: report

Dolly Parton reportedly snubbed Meghan Markle after she turned down an invite to appear on the actress's Netflix series 'With Love, Meghan.' 'Her team was livid,' celebrity commentator Kinsey Schofield claimed on a recent podcast appearance of 'The Nerve with Maureen Callahan.' 'Because no, they don't want to risk Dolly's reputation Q score [and] her popularity by associating with Meghan Markle.' 'They knew that this ask was just to give Meghan Markle credibility in this lifestyle space, a space that Dolly does have a lot of credibility in,' she continued. Schofield, 40, elaborated on Parton's success in the country music industry and as a lifestyle guru with her variety of baking batter mixes and beauty products. 'Dolly is not only incredibly popular and loved by the general public, but she also is somebody who can float around within these different places,' she added. 'Her team really feels like Meghan was trying to take advantage of her popularity,' Schofield alleged. Callahan described Parton as 'authentic' and claimed it would've been 'spontaneous combustion of good versus evil' if she agreed to appear alongside 'a fake royal' in her 'fake kitchen.' Reps for Parton, 79, and Markle, 43, weren't immediately available to Page Six for comment. The Duchess of Sussex's lifestyle series was released on Netflix in March. It was immediately renewed for Season 2 despite criticism from trolls claiming that Markle was 'thirsty' for fame. Several celebrities joined the 'Suits' alum in her show, including Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer. Spencer has previously defended her pal against critics, telling Page Six that Markle is 'the most glorious human being on the planet.' Markle, meanwhile, embarked on several business ventures this past year, including the launch of her 'As Ever' lifestyle brand and 'Confessions of a Female Founder' podcast in April. During a recent podcast episode, she admitted she felt 'incredibly lonely' in her business endeavors.
