Doctor Shah has revealed the 'best' anti-aging serum to add to your skincare routine - and it costs just a few pounds and can be bought from almost every supermarket or health shop
A skin expert has revealed the 'top' vitamin to incorporate into your skincare regimen for diminishing wrinkles and dark patches. Dr Shah, recognised as @dermdoctor across social platforms, has outlined the advantages of this anti-ageing serum available at any chemist or supermarket.

In his clip, he simply stated: "Vitamin C skin benefits - fades hyperpigmentation, improves wrinkles, anti-aging, anti-oxidant, brightens the skin." Beyond this, he also urged individuals to include it in their morning skincare ritual for optimal results.

He explained: "You can use it either time, but it's been in the AM because it has anti oxidant properties that protect against environmental damage." Supporting this, Harvard Health states: "Topical vitamin C is a science-backed, dermatologist-favourite ingredient that may help slow early skin aging, prevent sun damage, and improve the appearance of wrinkles, dark spots, and acne."

"Vitamin C is an antioxidant, meaning it fights harmful free radicals (toxins) that come in contact with your skin from external sources like air pollution, or from inside the body as a result of normal processes like your metabolism.
"Free radicals can damage the skin, and applying topical vitamin C can combat free radicals and may improve the skin's overall appearance."

A 2017 study titled 'The Roles of Vitamin C in Skin Health' by authors Juliet M Pullar, Anitra C Carr and Margreet C M Vissers found that "daily use of a vitamin C formulation for at least three months improved the appearance of fine and coarse wrinkles of the face and neck, as well as improved overall skin texture and appearance."
Moreover, vitamin C can also act as a shield for the skin against damaging ultraviolet rays when used in conjunction with various sunscreens.
The researchers further noted: "Clinical studies have shown that combining vitamin C with other topical ingredients, namely ferulic acid and vitamin E, can diminish redness and help protect the skin from long-term damage caused by harmful sun rays."

They also discovered that "Further, vitamin C can reduce the appearance of dark spots by blocking the production of pigment in our skin."
The study highlighted that "In clinical trials, the majority of the participants applying topical vitamin C had improvement in their dark spots with very little irritation or side effects, but more studies are needed to confirm the brightening effects of vitamin C."
While another shared their experience: "I use 21.5% Vitamin C and my hyperpigmentation has still not faded it just makes my skin dry even though I have combo skin." And a third chimed in with praise: "I use it every morning, amazing product!".

A cruel rash from a face cleaner marred my face. Three different GPs and three different treatments didn't help... then I found the answer that anyone who gets allergic reactions needs to know: CHARLOTTE VOSSAN

I've always had good skin as an adult; I struggled with acne as a teenager, so I'm extremely careful about what products I use on my face. Anything with fragrance is an instant no-go, as is anything too oily or pore-clogging. I avoid physical exfoliants (I do like using a chemical exfoliant about once a week), I always double-cleanse at night, and I always apply a vitamin C serum and SPF 50+ in the morning. Despite hundreds of new beauty launches landing on my desk at You magazine each month, I rarely introduce new products into my routine unless I've thoroughly checked the ingredients. And at the first sign of irritation, they're going straight in the bin. But even I can make mistakes sometimes, and last December, whilst in Edinburgh for the weekend, I learned that the hard way.

Boots' 'magic' £10 No7 serum shoppers say makes under eyes 'look tighter'

Shoppers have dubbed the serum "amazing" and praised the "instant" results on fine lines and under eyes Boots shoppers are heaping praise on an "amazing" serum they say makes under-eyes 'look tighter.' The product is currently on offer as part of the retailer's weekly £10 Tuesday deal, which sees prices dropped on select products for one day only. The No7 Youthful Eye Serum 15ml from Boots is now £10, down from its original price of £19.95. The serum targets "key signs of ageing" and aims to give "younger looking eyes in four weeks." The full Boots product description reads: "The advanced formula with a blend of Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C and soft focus spheres instantly smooths, revitalises, revitalises and brightens to give the skin around the eyes a youthful radiance. In addition, an effective fusion of Vitamin A, Cassava and anti-ageing Peptides work day by day to visibly reduce wrinkles including crows feet, improve skin firmness and reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness." Alternatively, shoppers can snap up the BYOMA De-Puff and Brighten Eye Gel 20ML from Space NK for £13, or the L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler Eye Serum 20ml from Superdrug for £15.99. Elsewhere, Medik8 has the C-Tetra Eye Lipid Vitamin C Radiance Serum for £24. The No7 serum has racked up rave reviews online, earning an overall rating of 4.4 stars. Among the hundreds of reviews, one person said: "Magic cream. This was a lovely cream that had INSTANT results. It smoothed fine lines out." A second wrote: "Amazing. I've been using this eye serum for many years. It's the only product I've found that keeps the skin around my eyes well hydrated. Wouldn't be without it." A third shopper added: "Like most people, I'm a little bit sceptical when it comes to using new products that claim to make differences to the appearance of your skin. However, with this product I have noticed an improvement in the fine lines around my eyes. My skin certainly seems smoother and fine lines seem less obvious. The skin around my eyes seems brighter and more hydrated. I would definitely recommend this product and I will certainly be stocking up." However, some shoppers mentioned issues they'd found with the product and shared their thoughts. One wrote: "I've been using it twice daily for several weeks now and really do not see any difference, other than it does a good job of moisturising." A different person said: "I have a couple of fine lines under my eyes and this product did nothing for them, however the product is easy to apply, sinks in well unlike others I've tried and didn't cause any allergic reaction to my very sensitive skin and eyes." Despite this, many others continued to praise the serum. One happy shopper said: "Being a first time mom and having less sleeping time made my under eyes so bad. This is by far one of the best eye serums I have tried. It made my under eye skin looks tighter just overnight. It's like a miracle serum. Highly recommended!" Another added: "I use this with the Lift and Illuminate eye cream and it works by keeping my skin smooth and line-free."
