Mum suing Cineworld after horror film trailers played before Lilo & Stitch

Metro4 hours ago

A mum is taking legal action against a cinema chain after they 'traumatised' her young children.
Jenny and Robert Ellice took their two sons, four-year-old Max and Bertie, five, to see Lilo & Stitch at Cineworld in Enfield, London.
In total they paid £85 for the '4DX' viewing which promises 'an extreme sensory experience' which moves the seat while watching the film.
The family settled down to watch the film on June 7 and sat through several adverts and trailers for other upcoming films, as is expected at the cinema.
Generally, cinemas only show trailers for films with the same or lower age rating than the film audiences are actually there to watch.
But Jenny, 43, was shocked when instead of trailers for other PG-rated films, Cineworld showed trailers for PG-13 rated films Jurassic World Rebirth and horror film Megan, as well as a second horror film.
'The first one was Jurassic World, and I thought that seems a bit off, but I thought it could be a PG film like Lilo & Stitch,' Jenny explained.
'The seats move really violently and my boys like dinosaurs so it's fine.
'The next one was Megan, and I was sure that wasn't a PG – it got really graphic really quickly.
'It's like those Chuckie movies.'
When combined with the moving seats, and despite covering her sons eyes, Jenny says both of her sons were left 'rigid with fear' and 'terrified' by the horror trailers.
They were so scared that they left the cinema altogether, missing out on the film they were supposed to see in the first place.
Cineworld staff apologised for the mistake and offered free tickets, but Jenny says this doesn't go far enough.
Describing the impact on her sons, she explained: 'Max has been waking up screaming and Rob said to his teacher yesterday that he was scared from the cinema.
'But you just don't know with kids, they're like sponges, you think they're not listening, but they are.
'They were pretty graphic trailers. There was swearing and screaming in them – my eldest was rigid with fear. I had my hands over their eyes.
'I had no idea why they were showing these trailers for a U movie – these are four-year-olds exposed to graphic swearing and violence.
'They were terrified.'
Jenny reached out to Cineworld via Instagram to complain further, but was told the cinema would take no further action after they had been offered free tickets.
So the mum has now instructed her solicitors to take further action, contacting Cineworld as well as Enfield council and the film licensing/rating body.
She explained: 'We were the only ones who went into the 4CX showing.
'We got popcorn and drinks, and they were so excited. They were all happy with their 3D glasses.
'Max hasn't even started school yet, with a big corporation this shouldn't be happening.
'If they had just put me in touch with someone from head officer then it would show they care. More Trending
'I want to ensure this never happens again as the cinema are not taking it seriously at all.
'Had the cinema had the decency to speak to me about it I probably wouldn't have taken legal action, but they have treated my complaint as more of an annoyance.
'Children at that age are like sponges and so impressionable, even just the noises of violence can leave a lasting impression and it's just not something two young children, especially one of pre-school age should ever be exposed to.'

Scarlett Johansson stuns in an elegant sequinned gown as she leads the red carpet arrivals at Jurassic World Rebirth world premiere in London

Scarlett Johansson stunned as she led the red carpet arrivals at the Jurassic World Rebirth world premiere in London on Tuesday. The actress, 40, who stars as as Zora Bennett in the upcoming science fiction, looked incredible in an elegant sequinned gown. The pale pink number featured a corset top with a scooping neckline and a floor length straight skirt. Scarlett was joined at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square by her co-stars Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey. The new science fiction action film, which comes on the heels of Jurassic World Dominion (2022), is the seventh film in the Jurassic Park franchise and stars a whole new ensemble cast, with Scarlett in the lead role. On a top-secret mission, the characters fight for their lives in a battle against much larger and dangerous foes. The stunning Marvel star — who previously admitted it was her 'childhood dream' to star in a Jurassic Park movie — leads the charge as she protects her teammates on their life-threatening mission to obtain the DNA of the most ferocious beasts at the site of the now-destroyed research facility for the original Jurassic Park. The movie is set half a decade after the 2022 Jurassic World Dominion movie, which starred Bryce Dallas Howard alongside Chris Pratt, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill among many more in the all-star cast. The synopsis of the movie reads: 'Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. 'Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived,' the summary continues. Last year Scarlett told that the 'script is so incredible' and gushed how David Koepp wrote it. 'He returned after like 30 years to write the script. He's so passionate about it, which is so awesome,' she raved. 'I'm such an enormous fan of the franchise and huge nerd for it. I'm just like, I can't even, I'm pinching myself.' Johansson added. 'I've been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years.' Steven Spielberg is back as executive producer on the project, which is a joint-venture production between Amblin Entertainment and Universal. Principal photography began in mid-June in Thailand and went on for about a month until the production moved to Kalkara in the island country of Malta in the Mediterranean Sea, located in Southern Europe for another month. From there, the shoot went to Sky Studios Elstree in London, England in August for another round before moving on in late September to New York City Jurassic World Rebirth is scheduled to hit theaters in the UK and US on July 2, 2025.

David Hekili Kenui Bell, ‘Lilo & Stitch' actor, dies at 46

Actor David Hekili Kenui Bell, who appeared in Disney's 'Lilo & Stitch' live adaption that released last month, has died, according to his family and a representative. He was 46. His sister, Jolene Kanani Bell, announced his passing on Facebook Sunday. 'It is with a heavy heart I share that my sweet, generous, talented, funny, brilliant and handsome little brother David H. K. Bell will spend today in the company of our Heavenly Father,' she wrote. "I've been waiting for the words and mindset to properly express the joy of a human, and Prince of a Man he was, but fate pushed my hand this morning by a pre-scheduled Father's Day newsletter honoring the men in our lives," she continued. No cause of death was disclosed. Bell explained that she met her little brother at the age of 18 on her high school graduation day. 'It was the most amazing surprise which I had been asking for for years, that our mom's made happen for us, and that gift has lasted a lifetime,' she wrote. 'While I didn't grow up with a Father, David gave me all the unconditional love I could possibly ask for and I believe that all his family and friends received the same from him.' She remembered her brother as loving and engaged with his nieces and grandnephew. She also described his deep love for acting and doing voiceovers, and how excited he was over his big break in "Lilo & Stitch." 'He recently made it on to the big screen with an iconic Lilo & Stitch moment,' his sister wrote. 'He planned ahead and purchased the best seats in the house for us all to go together to opening night in Kapolei just two short weeks ago." She said they felt "energized" by seeing the fans show up dressed in "Lilo & Stitch" merch, hats and masks and they celebrated by eating shaved ice after the movie. She concluded her post by reflecting on their last time together. 'Hug your loved ones today…our last time together after returning home from the movie was just sitting on my living room couch talking story about life, having a seltzer and doing a little genealogy." "Blessed by this and all the big and small moments, I will keep our memories alive,' she wrote. The actor's management agency, Bliss Models and Talent, paid tribute to Bell on Instagram. "I just heard the news of David H.K. Bell's passing 💔," agency owner Lashauna Downie wrote. She remembered Bell as "one of the best talent, a gentle giant with lots of aloha!" "You will be deeply missed. It was a true blessing seeing you rise to fame yet continue to be your humble self ⭐️. My thoughts & prayers go out to David's entire Ohana," Downie wrote.

Now, another star has got tongues wagging after his recent interview on BBC Radio 2 on Tuesday morning. This star in particular has already been brought up into conversation when it comes to who the next Bond could be, but even more so after he swerved a question. It's none other than Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey, who was talking to Scott Mills on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show. Jonathan joined Scott to celebrate the release of the Jurassic World Rebirth film, which stars the actor. And they ended up discussing rumours that Jonathan is a contender to be the next James Bond: Scott said to the star: 'It's an obvious question, but I'm going to be honest with you, it's the one people are asking the most, so I'm going to ask it. Do you, or would you be, James Bond?' Jonathan playfully replied with: 'Scott, how dare you!' to which Scott clarified: 'It's not me, it's the listeners and there are thousands.' The actor managed to somehow sidestep the question, responding: 'I mean, that's an amazingly flattering ask. I could imagine you as James Bond, Scott.' James Bond expert drops huge hint about new 007 actor after he starred in movie with huge A-list actress And Scott was quick to pick up on the change of direction, saying: 'Well, swerved, because that's not true. But, I mean, we know you could do it, but you'd want to do it?' Jonathan seemed to be more open to replying, as he said: 'I don't...I am not sure... I don't know. I really, honestly, I mean... it would be hard to say no, but I know that it's going to be exciting whatever they do.' Leaving Scott to reply: 'Thank you for answering that, because it was the most popular question. And I'll be honest, I almost ran away from you a bit like you did with Steven Spielberg, before I asked, but I'm glad I did. Thank you very much.' It seems many actors are in the running for the career making role. Timeline of James Bond actors Over the years there have been seven actors who have played 007. The first ever James Bond film was in 1962, and this is who has played the lead role over the years: Sean Connery - The late star was the first ever actor to play Bond, and reprised the role for seven movies. George Lazenby - The star only played Bond once, but was the youngest actor to ever play the spy. Roger Moore - The late movie star spent 12 years making seven films in the famous franchise. Timothy Dalton - The smooth actor took over from Roger Moore and appeared in The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill. Pierce Brosnan - The handsome star played Bond for four movies from 1995 to 2002. Daniel Craig - The British star was the first blonde James Bond and the sixth actor to win the role in 2005. Theo James' name was thrown into the hat after he wowed fans in Netflix's The Gentlemen last year. His performance in the Guy Ritchie series made him an ideal candidate for the next actor to fill the shoes of 007. Other names still in the running include Aaron Taylor-Johnson after it was revealed back in 2022 that the Brit had already "filmed a top-secret scene" at Pinewood Studios, Berkshire. Famed for the Kick-Ass movie series and the Marvel movie Avengers: Age of Ultron, Aaron shot to fame playing John Lennon in Nowhere Boy. The Sun previously exclusively revealed how Bond bosses had offered the job to Aaron. And with his quintessential Englishman good looks, James Norton has been a hot contender for the next Bond for many years. The chiselled star is known for playing the lead role of Sidney Chambers in Grantchester, and also evil Tommy Lee Royce in Happy in the running is Jack Lowden, known for BBC gangster drama The Gold and the TV hit Slow Horses. 4 Jonathan joined Scott to celebrate the release of the Jurassic World Rebirth film, which stars the actor Credit: Getty
