Liverpool open door to £70m MEGA deal
Liverpool have the door open wide for a potentially massive deal this summer. The Reds are dominating the market right now.
Liverpool are closing in on deals for several players at the moment. Jeremie Frimpong should be announced any moment now, while Florian Wirtz may follow him from Bayer Leverkusen.

Then it's also reported that Milos Kerkez is on the agenda and that things are progressing nicely there. A striker is also wanted - and that could cost Liverpool an awful lot of money.
Fortunately, there are also several outgoing transfers being worked on. Caoimhin Kelleher may depart shortly, while Darwin Nunez is consistently linked with an exit and it sounds as though that's moving along.
Liverpool certainly won't stop there, though. Luis Diaz is in line to leave and it appears the Reds have left the door wide open.
Luis Diaz to Al-Nassr
It's being reported in several places now that Luis Diaz is wanted by Al-Nassr. This follows on from an Anfield Watch exclusive back in February on the matter.

Things are now gathering pace. The Times claims Al-Nassr have Diaz firmly on their shortlist and reports elsewhere suggest the price could reach €80m.
Interestingly, though, The Times' report makes it clear that Liverpool are welcoming interest. Not directly but through inaction.
The Reds have not made any move to extend Diaz's contract, which has two years left to run. He remains on his initial contract signed back in 2022 which actually makes him one of the least-paid regular first-team players.
That's despite him bagging 13 Premier League goals this season and providing another five assists. Diaz will naturally entertain an exit if Liverpool aren't going to pay him.

But no new contract would make this the final summer in which Liverpool can secure 'full' value for the Colombian. He'll have just one year remaining in 2026, naturally driving his price downwards.
The lack of contract talks, then, suggests Liverpool are comfortable with a sale. There's really no other way to take it.
Now, that doesn't mean Liverpool will sell but the door is open to a big sale - something a new contract would rule out. Watch this space: something mega might be about to happen.

Venezuela boost qualification hopes as Colombia falter
Venezuela's forward Salomon Rondon celebrates his goal in Friday's 2-0 win over Bolivia in South American World Cup qualifying. (Juan BARRETO) Venezuela boosted their chances of qualifying for the World Cup for the first time in their history, beating Bolivia 2-0 on Friday, while faltering rivals Colombia were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Peru. A calamitous fifth-minute own goal from Hector Cuellar and a 30th-minute strike from veteran forward Salomon Rondon ensured the three points for the Vinotinto in Maturin. Advertisement The victory, which came after a frustrating night for Colombia, left Venezuela in seventh place on 18 points - three points behind Colombia and Uruguay. Venezuela travel to Uruguay on Tuesday knowing a win would put them in real contention for a top six spot and an automatic place in next year's tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The final two games for Uruguay come in September when they are away to already qualified Argentina before a potentially crucial last match at home to Colombia on September 6. The top six teams in South America qualify directly for the World Cup with the seventh placed country entering the inter-confederation playoffs. Advertisement Bolivia gifted the home side the lead when Cuellar played a gentle back pass towards his goalkeeper Guillermo Viscarra who somehow failed to control the ball which passed through his legs and into the net. The much-travelled Rondon, Venezuela's all-time top scorer, doubled the lead on the half hour when he brought down a cross from the right and under pressure buried the ball in the corner with his left foot. Jon Aramburu should have made it 3-0 in the 68th minute when he was set up by Rondon but side-footed wide. Eighth-placed Bolivia, who now fall four points behind Venezuela, went close to pulling a goal back in the 75th minute when Lucas Chavez's effort grazed the outside of the post. Advertisement Colombia, runners-up in the Copa America last year, are making life difficult for themselves after being held by second to last Peru in Barranquilla, extending their winless run in the CONMEBOL qualifiers to five games. Missing the suspended Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, Colombia lacked creativity in attack against a resilient Peru back line and they were booed off the field at the final whistle. "Two fundamental things were missing to win the game, which was the final third and precision. And I think Peru defended very well. They made it difficult for us in that sense," said Colombia's Argentine coach Nestor Lorenzo. Colombia face Argentina in Buenos Aires on Tuesday. Advertisement Argentina, who are on 34 points, are assured of top spot in the group while Ecuador and Paraguay are on 24 points ahead of Brazil on 22. Just six points separate second-placed Ecuador from seventh-placed Venezuela with three rounds of games remaining. sev/rcw

Manchester United have presented their offer for Aymeric Laporte who wants to leave Al-Nassr
Manchester United have presented their offer for Aymeric Laporte who wants to leave Al-Nassr Manchester United could do with defensive reinforcements ahead of the new season, given the departures of Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans. The injury records of Luke Shaw and Matthijs de Ligt are also concerning, while Lisandro Martinez could also be set for a positional change. Advertisement But given the need to strengthen up top, Ruben Amorim is unlikely to have a lot of wriggle room for a new centre-back, which explains the radio silence regarding the club's pursuit of Jarrad Branthwaite. It is likely INEOS will consider a low-cost option, and Football Espana have relayed that the Red Devils have joined the race for Al-Nassr's Aymeric Laporte. Aymeric Laporte wants to return to Europe United fans will remember him well, from his time with Manchester City where he won six Premier League titles and a Champions League. The Spain international is looking for a way out of the Saudi Pro League after spending two seasons with Cristiano Ronaldo's side, and he is prioritising a return to Europe. Advertisement While his former club Athletic Club were looking at a potential cut-price €10 million deal for the 31-year-old, Al-Nassr will try and recoup as close to the €27 million they paid for him in 2023. The report suggests the 20-time English league champions have presented their offer to the defender's agent, while Chelsea have joined the race as well. Laporte has offer from United The likes of Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Napoli are also monitoring proceedings with interest. 'Chelsea are interested in Laporte! The defender has offers from Manchester United, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, and Napoli.' His winning mentality could be worth adding to the United dressing room, but INEOS have refrained from stop-gap deals since coming in. Advertisement Aymeric Laporte has struggled in the Middle East, which has also seen him lose his place in the Spanish national team. For the fee being quoted, it makes little sense for United to pursue his signing. Feature image Stuart Franklin via Getty Images Follow us on Bluesky: @
