‘Will Give Response At Right Time': Pakistan On Lok Sabha Op Sindoor Debate
Pakistan is monitoring India's Lok Sabha debate on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor. PM Modi criticised Pakistan and Congress.
Operation Sindoor debate: Pakistan External Affairs Ministry has said that Islamabad is monitoring the proceedings of the Lok Sabha where a two-day special session has been conducted to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
In a statement, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said that the proceedings are being monitored and a response would be given at appropriate time.
'We are monitoring the proceedings of the Lok Sabha. Pakistan will give its response at the appropriate time," Shafqat Ali Khan said.
Operation Sindoor Debate In Parliament
The Parliament began the three-day debate on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor from Monday. The BJP and its allies hailed the Modi government for the decisive action and befitting reply given to Pakistan's terror-sponsoring forces, and criticised the opposition for raising doubts on the capabilities of the Indian armed forces.
In a nearly two-hour-long speech, PM Modi criticised Pakistan as well as the Congress and delved into history to expose the blunders of the opposition party for which, he said, India is still paying a price.
Hitting out at the Congress for its claims of pausing Operation Sindoor under pressure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said before asking why Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) has not been taken back yet, the party must respond as to who let it go in the first place.
He said that while the nation got support from the entire world, the Congress and its allies could not stand behind the valour of the nation's soldiers.
He also asserted that no leader of any country asked India to end the military action after the Pahalgam terror strike.
The Prime Minister said no country stopped India from acting against terror, and at the UN, only 3 countries supported Pakistan. 'We got the world's support but it is unfortunate that Congress did not support us. They asked where is 56-inch chest, said Modi fail ho gaya—maza le rahe the, laga baazi maar li (they said Modi failed, they were having fun—thinking they won the narrative battle)," he said.
On the other hand, the opposition parties came down heavily on the central government over alleged security lapses and US President Donald Trump's claim of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. They also questioned why security agencies are not able to nab the terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack.

Namo Drone Didi scheme: 1,021 drones allocated to Punjab, 583 to Haryana, says Centre in Lok Sabha
Of the 14,500 drones approved under the 'Namo Drone Didi' scheme, 1,021 have been allocated to Punjab, the Centre informed the Lok Sabha Tuesday. The neighbouring Haryana has been allocated 583, nearly half of Punjab's allocation, while Himachal Pradesh has been given 75. Replying to a query by Lok Sabha MP Parshottambhai Rupala, Union Minister of State (agriculture and farmers welfare) Ramnath Thakur said that 1,094 drones have already been distributed across the country to women Self Help Groups (SHGs) in 2023-24 with financial assistance from Lead Fertilizer Companies (LFCs), of which 500 have been distributed under Namo Drone Didi scheme. The scheme was launched in November 2023 after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his Independence Day speech that year, announced to train at least 15,000 Drone Didis across the country, ushering a tech revolution in agriculture by spraying fields with drone, thus cutting manual labor cost along with saving time and water. Modi had announced that the goal was to create at least two crore 'Lakhpati didis' (rural women earning in lakhs) in the country by empowering women running self-help groups (SHGs) under which drone training for women was launched. The Union ministry's reply further revealed that in Punjab, 57 drones have already been distributed to woman SHGs by LFCs with equal number of women from these SHGs given drone pilot training. In Haryana, 102 drones have already been distributed and equal number of women from these SHGs given the training. However, in the hill state, just 4 drones have been distributed until now. Minister Thakur further said: 'The Government has approved 'Namo Drone Didi' as Central Sector Scheme for providing 15,000 drones to the Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) with an outlay of Rs 1261 crore for the period from 2023-24 to 2025-26. The major objectives of the scheme is to promote advanced technology in agriculture for improved efficiency, enhanced crop yield and reduced cost of operation and to empower SHGs as drone service providers for increasing their income and providing livelihood support to them.' 'Under this scheme, Central Financial Assistance (CFA) @ 80% of the cost of drone package up to a maximum of Rs. 8.00 lakhs is provided to the selected women SHGs. 15 days drone pilot training for one of the members of SHGs and 5 days drone assistant training to other member/family member of SHGs is provided as a part of drone package,' he added. 'LFCs have distributed 1,094 drones to drone didis of SHGs in 2023-24 using their internal resources. Out of these 1,094 drones, 500 drones have been distributed under the Namo Drone Didi Scheme. Members of these SHGs have been trained as drone pilots at various Remote Pilot Training Organizations (RPTOs) authorized by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The allocation of remaining 14500 drones has been informed to the State Governments as indicated,' the reply adds. The ministry also admitted that women trained as Drone Didis were facing some practical issues related to batteries, transportation etc on the ground. 'Agricultural Development and Rural Transformation Centre (ADRTC), Bangalore have carried out a study on economics and business viability of drone operations on the 500 drones distributed by LFCs under Namo Drone Didi scheme. The findings indicate that kisan drones cover an area of one acre in 7-8 minutes and the flight time on a single battery charge of the kisan drones of various manufacturers ranged from 5-20 minutes. The drone package under Namo Drone Didi scheme includes one standard battery set and additional four battery sets,' says the reply. On the transportation issue, the ministry said: 'The study report also indicates that, where the utility vehicles were not provided with the drones supplied by LFCs, 42.68 per cent of the Drone Didis faced transportation related issues, with the South (78.82%) being the most affected. Moreover, 68.66 per cent drone didis also reported that hiring a transport vehicle was costly. To address the drone transport issue, a provision has been made under Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) to provide financial assistance @ 80% to the Women SHGs identified under Namo Drone Didi scheme for purchase of Multi-utility machines, which are also used as drone transport. Overall, the adoption of drones has diversified SHG activities, improved agricultural practices, and increased income opportunities for women in rural communities.'

Four more foreign universities set for India launch
NEW DELHI: The fifth anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was marked by the handover of Letters of Intent (LoIs) from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to four universities to open their campuses in India - three from Australia and one from UK. They were handed over by the Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday during the launch of an education summit, Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) 2025. Projects for more than Rs 4,000 crore across the country including the campus inaugurations were launched by Pradhan. The Western Sydney University will open its campus in Greater Noida, La Trobe University in Bengaluru, and Victoria University in Noida while the University of Bristol will open in Mumbai. With these four, the number of universities handed over the LoI to open their campuses stands at six with one campus already opened. The University of Liverpool was handed over the LoI for a campus in Bengaluru in May 2025 and the University of Southampton in August 2024. The latter became the first to open its campus in Gurugram in Haryana on June 16 this year under the new NEP policy. 'Many more such campuses are in the offing,' a senior education official said. Dr Nicolene Murdoch, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Western Sydney University, said its campus was on course to commence classes by August or September 2026. 'We will be offering Bachelors in Business Administration and in IT to start with. We are expecting atleast 100 students to join us in the inaugural year in these graduate streams.' Infrastructure work has already commenced and the first phase will be ready next year, she said. 'In the future, we are looking at inviting both Indian companies and Australian ones to offer placements for our students,' Murdoch added. Pradhan said, 'Indian ethos lies at the core of NEP. Over the past five years, the government has succeeded in taking NEP 2020 from policy to practice – bringing about a paradigm shift in the education system and reaching classrooms, campuses and communities.' As the nation moved towards the Viksit Bharat 2027, the NEP serves as a national mission guiding the country. Minister of State for Education Jayanth Choudhary read out a speech from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mark the significant occasion. Education ministers from several states took part in the event.
