Direct dialogue between govt, public reps key to quality development: UP CM
'It should be a game changer in people's lives,' he said while presiding over a high-level review meeting with officers and public representatives from Ayodhya and Devipatan divisions here.
He said schemes should deliver tangible results and directed officials to implement this dialogue model across the state so that the vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' and 'Sabka Vishwas' is reflected in every plan and project.
Public representatives and senior officials of the PWD, tourism and culture department from both divisions took part in the meeting aimed at establishing a direct communication with the representatives to ensure the pace and quality of development works align with their priorities and the expectations of the people.
Yogi stressed the need for strong coordination to align development works with public expectations. He said the state government is ensuring separate financial support for municipal bodies and driving holistic urban development through the CM Grid Scheme.
He directed officials to involve local representatives in project reviews, ensure transparency and incorporate their suggestions to strengthen accountability. The CM laid emphasis on prioritising development in newly urbanised rural areas within municipal limits. He directed that essential infrastructure—such as drinking water, drainage, and roads—must be completed swiftly to ensure urban-level amenities without compromising the villages' identity.
The CM also directed that district headquarters be connected with four-lane roads and block headquarters with at least two-lane roads at the earliest. He asked all departments to identify accident-prone spots and fix them immediately through coordinated efforts.
Yogi said the state government has undertaken a landmark step to upgrade road infrastructure by increasing the width of state roads from 3.5 to 5 metres. He said this move will enhance traffic safety, improve emergency response times, and boost connectivity across urban and rural areas. He directed the tourism and culture department to identify and develop at least one tourist site in every assembly constituency.
The CM said bridge construction projects are linked to the Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti Yojana. This national model helps coordinate different infrastructure projects, ensuring faster execution of bridge works and better use of financial resources. He also said not just the public works department but all departments should consult public representatives while planning their projects. This will help address actual problems on the ground.
He said approved projects must go through a swift tender process and foundation-laying ceremonies should be held post-monsoon with their participation to ensure faster execution and greater public accountability. Yogi called upon the public representatives to stay in constant touch with people in their areas, inform them about ongoing projects, and convey their issues to the government.

He accused the SP of hiding behind the 'facade' of democracy while subjecting traders to atrocities and a 'goonda tax' during its rule. Asserting that no development took place during the Samajwadi Party rule, he said, 'During the SP regime, encephalitis claimed the lives of 700-1500 children every year, including hundreds in Mata Prasad Pandey's constituency in Siddharthnagar, yet no action was taken. Health, education, and development have never been your priorities.' Recalling the Sambhal incident, the chief minister said his government is carrying out a purification drive in the area to undo the negativity spread by the party. 'The SP is still clinging to its old habits, opposing development at every step,' he remarked. Accusing SP of being anti-growth, he said the party's politics in Sambhal, Bahraich, and Gorakhpur was rooted in obstruction, not progress. 'The BJP and NDA governments are committed to development, but the SP simply cannot tolerate it,' he said. Criticising the Samajwadi Party for opposing the Gorakhpur Heritage Corridor, he called its stance 'anti-development.' He said Gorakhpur traders opposed Pandey's visit because of bitter memories of the SP-era fear and Goonda Tax. 'The traders have not forgotten the exploitation they suffered under SP rule. You went there uninvited, trying to obstruct development, and they respectfully opposed you,' he said, stressing that people cannot expect either security or development from the SP. 'The corridor will link iconic landmarks, including Ghantaghar, the city's oldest market, and the Gita Press. I inspected the site three days before the Leader of Opposition's visit, personally meeting every trader. Long plagued by congestion and illegal encroachments, the market is now seeing road expansion and decongestion works,' he said. The CM assured that all affected traders will receive fair compensation, with no one left to bear losses in the name of development.

Monsoon session: Spotlight on UP's 2047 vision with 24×7 deliberations, says Yogi
Outlining the government's ambitious agenda for the Monsoon Session, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said the state assembly will hold discussions on the 'Viksit UP' vision continuously for 24 hours on August 13 and 14 and urged all parties to contribute to the state's progress. (Deepak Gupta/HT Photo) Speaking to reporters at the Vidhan Bhavan shortly before proceedings of the assembly began, Adityanath said the Monsoon session was important as the government will present an action plan for the next 25 years in the House, adding that the session held in the third year of the Amrit Kaal will chart a decisive course for development. Drawing inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of development, the state government is advancing with the vision of 'Viksit UP' to fulfil the national resolve of a self-reliant and developed India, he said. This vision, prepared in collaboration with NITI Aayog and experts, ensures participation from all sections of society. He said on August 13 and 14, the House will hold a continuous 24-hour discussion on this vision, a consensus for which was reached at the all-party meeting, he said. The opinions of the general public will also be incorporated into the vision document. 'By 2047, when India becomes a developed nation, Uttar Pradesh too will stand proudly as a 'Developed Uttar Pradesh',' he said. The chief minister said during the Question Hour, members will raise issues of public interest, while Zero Hour will focus on other significant matters. The government is fully prepared to answer every question and welcomes meaningful and constructive debate. He urged all parties to make productive use of time, avoid negativity, and contribute to the state's progress. 'We will welcome all proposals brought to the House. Our commitment is to the youth, to the development of UP, and to fulfilling the aspirations of the people,' he stated, adding that those attempting needless disruption will be answered by the public itself. Highlighting the session's agenda, CM Yogi said seasonal challenges such as floods and waterlogging will be taken up, along with in-depth discussions on health, education, infrastructure, welfare of the poor and uplift of all sections. Citing the government's developmental achievements over the past eight-and-a-half years, he said these have earned Uttar Pradesh praise at both national and international levels. Hitting out at the Opposition, particularly the Samajwadi Party, the chief minister said their approach remains rooted in negativity rather than development. Recalling a previous session where proceedings were extended for 36 hours, he said the SP opposed the move and resorted to unparliamentary language, something for which they are already notorious. He urged the Opposition to engage in positive, development-oriented dialogue, he said. Calling the UP legislature the largest in the country, CM said the debates held here set examples for the entire nation. Over the past eight-and-a-half years, the legislature has achieved numerous milestones and engaged in meaningful discussions on matters of public interest, he said. 'This time too, we enter the session with an important agenda to address the aspirations of our 25-crore population,' he said. Extending a warm welcome to all members of the assembly and legislative council from across the state, the chief minister wished for the success of the session, reiterating that it would mark a significant stride towards the development and prosperity of Uttar Pradesh.
