Man United planning brutal step to bring in Champions League hero this window

Yahoo4 days ago
Manchester United's attack has been completely revamped, and now Ruben Amorim seems to be on the hunt for reinforcements in midfield and in goal.
Carlos Baleba is the top midfield target, but player sales will need to be conducted before INEOS can think of bringing him in.
As for the goalkeeping position, Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir have both been linked with exits, but so far, they remain at the club.
In fact, the Cameroonian has not played a single minute in pre-season due to injury, but he remains confident of regaining full fitness before the season opener against Arsenal.
Goalkeeping dilemma
As for the Turkish ace, he has looked shaky at times, but he did save a penalty against Fiorentina. There are rumours that he wants regular minutes and is keen to leave and return to his homeland.
Amorim would, ideally, like to bring in a top quality new No.1, but a lot will depend on whether the Red Devils can move on their current two options in goal.
Should Bayindir depart, INEOS are likely to target a low-cost option, capable of challenging Onana for the top spot. Senne Lammens of Royal Antwerp fits the bill.
As revealed by TBR Football, the 20-time English league champions are prepared to loan out Onana, and then try and secure Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain.
'We are told that Man United would consider allowing Onana to leave on a loan deal should they find a new number one between the sticks.
'Manchester United are open to making changes in their goalkeeping department and Onana is aware. There is a chance to bring in a Donnarumma or Martinez, one of the best keepers in the world, and United are tempted.
Brutal Andre Onana step being planned
'However, understandably there is a lot of interest in Donnarumma – him being available is something more than just United think is a great opportunity.'
PSG are open to a sale, having brought in Lucas Chevalier, and The Peoples Person has already relayed that direct talks have taken place between the Italian and United.
In fact, the Old Trafford side are prepared to submit an opening offer as well. Whether Onana leaves will be interesting to see.
There were reports linking him with an exit earlier in the window, but with Amorim hellbent on improving the team's attack, his place seemed secure. But things could change in the last three weeks of the transfer window.

Red Roses star Kabeya revelling in fun-fuelled mentality at World Cup

By Milly McEvoy England rugby star Sadia Kabeya is ready to have fun as the Red Roses seek global glory on home soil. The 23-year-old is set to embark on a second major tournament with England, having burst onto the scene in 2021. The undeniable best team in the world, England have external expectations to lift silverware this summer but Kabeya's aims are different from that. 'For me, it is hard because I have always played for the enjoyment, and I think it is natural in any professional sport for you to have ups and downs,' she explained, as part of a new LG OLED TV collaboration ahead of this summer. 'But I just want to be able to play with so much fun, and that is how I want people to see me on the pitch. 'I don't have to play rugby because I want to be fast, I want to hit somebody, I want to play rugby because Sadia has so much fun, and I want to have that much fun. 'I think in professional sport you lose that, and I want to gain that back and be that for someone watching, that would be amazing.' Kabeya was a new face to the England team in New Zealand three years ago, when the Red Roses were beaten by the hosts in the final. Since then, she has established herself as one of the most reliable members of the back row, but with that comes more pressure. She added: 'The first time for me was a whirlwind. I was fresh into the squad, and it was a huge experience for me. 'I think this time it means that bit more, being at home and being a bit more cemented in the squad. To be able to hopefully represent my country at home would mean a lot. 'Three years ago was a baptism by fire. We played in record crowds at the time, and to play in that at 19 years old, the biggest stage for rugby, it taught me to deal with those crowds and with those big pressure moments. 'In a team like England, you are used to winning, but when you go to a big tournament, everything is different, everyone is on their A game, so I think what I have taken from those times is how to deal with those big pressure situations.' The Red Roses and the Lionesses are both in action this summer and both will be on free-to-air TV, with LG helping the nation get closer to the action with LG OLED TVs. Life's Good for sport fans as LG's leading technology provides an unmatched immersive sporting atmosphere thanks to incredible OLED picture quality, Motion Pro technology for the smoothest action possible and unbelievable soundbar surround sound to bring the stadium feeling home. For Kabeya, it is an honour to share in a year like no other. 'I think it is amazing, we are in an era where women's sport is on the rise,' she said. 'No matter what you are doing, no matter what sport you are playing, you can always see progression. 'With the cricket and the football happening at the same time and in the same year, it is quite a pinch-me moment to be a part of it. I am really excited to get into and be a part of it.'

Togetherness will make Sunderland stronger says forward Watson

Sunderland forward Katy Watson says that togetherness will only make the team stronger as they look to progress in this season's Barclays WSL2. After going close to winning promotion in 2023/2024, The Lady Black Cats finished last season in seventh position in the league table. Going for promotion this season won't be easy but forward Watson says that togetherness will certainly provide Sunderland with solid foundations to do well. 'The season where we almost won the league was a shock to ourselves because we weren't going for promotion at all, it was just about finishing as high as we could,' Watson told WSL Full-Time. 'When we started winning games, we just said 'we can actually do this'. We didn't expect to win but it just kept getting closer and closer and we missed out with a couple of games left. 'Last season, maybe we set our standards too high and expected to finish that high [again] then when we went into games against the teams below, we might have been a bit too confident, that could have been where we went wrong. 'Going into this season, the togetherness definitely helps. We are doing lots of team-bonding stuff. As teammates, getting behind each other definitely makes us stronger and will help us get good results.' Sunderland are not only competing for promotion, they are also battling with neighbours Durham and Newcastle United for local bragging rights. Watson says that the North East competition is fierce. She said 'Every team in the North East want the bragging rights so that they can say they're the best team. Going into games, there's a lot of pressure. Everyone wants to win and they'll do absolutely anything to win.' Watson got her preparations for the new season off to the best possible start. She netted a hat-trick in Sunderland's 4-0 pre-season friendly victory over Rangers last week. The player revealed that she was eager to get back on the pitch and scoring goals. She said 'Going into the game, I was quite nervous because it was one of the first friendlies in pre-season. We had a big build-up on running; we pretty much ran every training session, so it was just nice to finally get a game. 'It was my first start of pre-season and I just went for goal. I definitely needed it because the first few sessions of pre-season were a lot of running, not as much football, so it was nice to get on the pitch, have a ball at my feet and just do what I do.' Sunderland kick-off the new Barclays WSL2 season with a fixture at Sheffield United on Friday 5 September 2025.

Two exciting teams who are aiming to be the 'best of the rest' in the Premier League meet at the Amex on Saturday as Brighton host Fulham. WATCH — Brighton v Fulham The Seagulls just missed out on European qualification last season as their streaky campaign was very promising under young head coach Fabian Hurzeler. They lost key forward Joao Pedro this summer and have big clubs sniffing around other players such as Carlos Baleba, but Brighton's recruitment strategy continues to impress and they look set to push for a top six finish and have the advantage over their rivals of not having European action to juggle. The same is true for Marco Silva's Fulham who were in the hunt for Europe right until the end of last season but then they faded. Fulham have kept the core of their squad together and although they've not added a big name so far this summer, the Cottagers look set for another season of pushing for Europe.
