Kevin Abstract and Dominic Fike Are Geezer
WhenKevin AbstractandDominic Fikedropped 'Geezer' just ahead of Abstract'sBlushalbum, the internet went crazy. Abstract and Fike are no strangers to creative collaboration, having connected most notably on Abstract'sARIZONA BABYtracks 'Peach' and 'Crumble' (though Fike isn't listed as an 'artist'), and most recently, on the aforementionedBlushhigh-point, 'Geezer.'
It seems 'Geezer' has now taken on a new meaning; rather than just the name of the pair's first official co-credited collaborative track, it is now the name of the Abstract x Fike collaborative unit, per Abstract's Instagram announcement.
'Me and Dominic Fike made a band together, we're called Geezer,' wrote Abstract in the caption. 'Our new song 'Doggy' is out now everywhere.'
A press release echoes the same sentiment, stating that the duo is expanding upon the 'Geezer' track, writing that the pair 'have teamed up again as Geezer, named after the track they released last month.'
Geezer's new song 'Doggy' also featuresBlushcontributors Love Spells and Truly Young. Fike and Abstract also teamed up as Geezer for other standoutBlushsong, 'Maroon,' another masterful medley of pop, rap and indie influences.
Whether the two are plotting a full-length release as Geezer remains to be seen, but stay tuned as more information surfaces and stream 'Doggy' on all DSPs now.

Kelly Clarkson cancels Texas benefit concert appearance after ex-husband Brandon Blackstock's death
Kelly Clarkson has pulled out of an upcoming concert appearance at an event slated to take place this weekend following the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. The singer's ex, to whom she was married from 2013 to 2020, died on Aug. 3 following a yearslong private battle with melanoma, a serious form of skin cancer. He was 48. Prior to Blackstock's passing, the 'Breakaway' hitmaker was due to perform onstage at Band Together Texas — a live music event created country stars Parker McCollum and Miranda Lambert. PapCulture / BACKGRID The benefit gig, which takes place on Aug. 17, will raise funds to support those who were affected by the July floods in the Lone Star State. 'Unfortunately, Kelly Clarkson will be unable to appear at Band Together Texas as planned, due to personal circumstances,' the concert's organizers wrote in a since-expired Instagram Story, per People. 'Brandon, along with his beautiful and loving partner in life and business, Brittney Marie Jones, started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana,' it read. Clarkson, meanwhile, was not even mentioned in the lengthy obit. 4 Clarkson's gig cancellation comes just days after her name was omitted from Blackstock's obituary. MediaPunch / BACKGRID Their ill-fated union ended with a contentious legal battle that saw the exes fight over finances, custody and property. The lengthy clash came to an end in 2022, when a judge granted Blackstock $115,000 per month in spousal support until January 2024. He was also awarded a monthly amount of $45,600 in child support.

Fans split on Golden State Valkyries' new mascot
The Golden State Valkyries' new mascot was unveiled this week — and she's a cutie (to me, at least). Driving the news: Violet, easily identifiable by her round glasses and big grin, is a raven who knows how to break it down on the dance floor. Our Instagram followers reacted with divided fervor. What they're saying:"Instantly iconic," @anoyes commented, while @shaketini said, "I like her glasses!!" "I could see her visiting different areas of the Bay, learning the dances, getting to know all the cultures that make up the Bay Area," @spottedgiraffe2777 added. One of our readers, Margaret R., also wrote in enthusiastically: "I am OBSESSED with Violet. Liberty can't take up all the mascot rizz." (The New York Liberty's mascot is Ellie the Elephant.) Yes, but: Not everyone reacted with cheer. "I feel like it would have been a bit cooler to lean into the actual valkirye theme and maybe ... give her some cool armor or a weapon," @soaphia.g noted. "Too much cute," @garden22nd agreed. "Why is she portrayed as SEXY? ... And not in a cool, swaggy way, but more like in a designed-for-the-male-gaze-Dallas-Cowboys-Cheerleaders style? It's just not right for our team of strong, capable women," @goldenstatehaze commented. Between the lines: Ravens are known as Valkyries' counterparts in Norse mythology and are considered guardians of good fortune.

Maroon 5's former bassist Mickey Madden's wife files for divorce after accusing rocker of abuse, sexting teens
Kate Bowman, the wife of former Maroon 5 member Mickey Madden, has filed for divorce from the bassist — two weeks after she accused him of sending explicit text messages to teenagers. The fashion influencer, who boasts more than 40,000 Instagram followers, filed for divorce on Wednesday after just three months of marriage to the musician, TMZ reports. Bowman cited 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for the split, but did not provide a date of separation in the filing, the outlet adds. Advertisement The demise of the pair's ill-fated — and very brief — union comes just weeks after Bowman accused the 'Moves Like Jagger' musician of physically attacking her, in addition to sexting teens about a 'rape fantasy.' 'He physically abused me,' Bowman claimed in court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. Per the documents, Bowman rushed out of their Los Angeles family home, and the 'Payphone' rocker chased after her while wearing only underwear and no shoes. 'He ran after me in his underwear and barefoot, caught up to me, shoved me against the gate, and then tried to grab me back to the house,' she added. 5 Bowman cited 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for the split, but did not provide a date of separation in the filing. Jojo Korsh/ / Shutterstock Advertisement Bowman said she when she eventually managed to 'escape' Madden's alleged antics by running out on the street, the musician had 'found [her] twice in different locations, physically abusing me each time.' Her filing included several screenshots from her doorbell camera footage. In the docs, Bowman says she didn't recognize Madden and had never seen that side of him prior to that day. Following their alleged blowout, Bowman stayed with a friend and claimed that the rocker had since apologized to her via text and handwritten letters, promising her he would check into rehab for his sex addiction. 5 The rocker served as Maroon 5's bass player for nearly 26 years. WireImage A judge has since granted Bowman a temporary domestic violence restraining order, though denied her request to have Madden move out of their home. She has also asked for custody of their Siberian huskies, Toast and Jam. The exes will go to court on Aug. 20.
