Shawn Mendes shares emotional speech about sexuality
Shawn Mendes opened up to an audience in Colorado before performing his unreleased song, 'The Mountain.'
Shawn Mendes will celebrate his decade-long career with a handful of North American concerts this fall.
The On the Road Again tour follows a series of festival shows Mendes headlined overseas this year and marks his first significant dates aside from a handful of theater concerts last year. In 2002, Mendes canceled his Wonder tour to prioritize his mental health.
'I feel like time away has allowed me to come back and recognize and remember how unbelievably special it is to get to play live shows,' Mendes said in announcing the new concerts. 'It's an honor and I'm just beyond grateful that you guys keep showing up after 10 years with so much love.'
Tickets for the shows, which launch Sept. 25 in Boston and include stops Toronto, New York, Chicago and San Francisco, go on sale at 10 a.m. local time June 5 with various presales through Spotify and local venues. The general on sale kicks off at 10 a.m. local time June 6 at shawnmendesofficial.com/live.
The concerts will feature sets taken from a discography that spans his 2015 debut 'Handwritten,' which bore the hits 'Stitches' and 'Life of the Party,' through his 2024 return, 'Shawn,' which includes 'Why Why Why' and 'Heart of Gold.'
Before Mendes plays North America with opener Eddie Benjamin, he'll round Europe from Aug. 2-Aug. 31.
More: Why music fans are booking flights with their concerts tickets: 'I cried. I loved it.'

This classic '80s song just hit 1 billion streams on Spotify.
This classic '80s song just hit 1 billion streams on Spotify. Show Caption Hide Caption Watch Rick Astley's reaction to the 'Ted Lasso' funeral scene Ahead of his slot on New Kids on the Block's The Mixtape tour, singer Rick Astley plays '80s trivia with USA TODAY's Melissa Ruggieri. Entertain This!, USA TODAY No, Mr. Astley, this isn't a fake-out. You're streaming royalty now. British pop star Rick Astley, whose inescapable '80s hit "Never Gonna Give You Up" found an unexpected renaissance in the digital age, has joined the ranks of Spotify's "Billions Club," according to a June 2 press release. The soulful synth-pop track, taken from Astley's 1987 debut album "Whenever You Need Somebody," has exceeded one billion streams on the music platform. "I never could have imagined back in 1987 that 'Never Gonna Give You Up' would still be going strong decades later," Astley, 59, said in a statement. "Thanks to streaming platforms, a whole new generation has been able to discover music like mine. Reaching one billion streams is something I never dreamed of and to everyone who's ever listened, thank you." Rick Astley memoir: Singer tackles Rickrolling, Dave Grohl and resurgent pop career in 'Never' The song, written and produced by the all-star dance-pop production team Stock Aitken Waterman, peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks and has sold five million copies to date. In the late 2000s, "Never Gonna Give You Up" received an unlikely revival when the "Rickrolling" internet meme became a viral sensation. The digital prank consists of a bait-and-switch maneuver in which someone opens a disguised hyperlink containing the music video to Astley's song. When the individual opens the link and is confused to discover the song, they have been "Rickrolled." Thanks to the "Rickrolling" effect, "Never Gonna Give You Up" earned tens of millions of YouTube views (the music video currently has 1.6 billion), was played at various sporting events and was even referenced on X, formerly known as Twitter, by The White House during the Barack Obama administration. Rick Astley is no one-hit wonder, but these music stars are. "I don't know how my career would have turned out without Rickrolling," Astley reflected in his 2024 memoir "Never." "But it would be stupid to say it hasn't ultimately done me a lot of good." While "Never Gonna Give You Up" remains Astley's signature song, his other hits include "Together Forever," "She Wants to Dance with Me," "Cry for Help" and "It Would Take a Strong Man." His most recent album, 2023's "Are We There Yet?," peaked at No. 2 on the charts in his native U.K. Contributing: Melissa Ruggieri, USA TODAY

The 'Wicked: For Good' trailer is coming to select theaters Wednesday
Grab your broomstick and your bestie: Wicked is returning to theaters on Wednesday, June 4, and it's bringing the trailer for Wicked: For Good along with it. The first part of the Broadway musical adaptation hit theaters on Nov. 22, 2024, to critical and commercial acclaim. The final half of the two-part film is slated to arrive in theaters almost exactly one year later, on Nov. 21, 2025. But the Wizard of Oz prequel, which stars Cynthia Erivo as 'Wicked Witch' Elphaba and Ariana Grande as the supposedly 'good' witch Glinda, is so highly anticipated that even the premiere of its trailer was announced alongside these special one-night screenings taking place in North American theaters this week. The screenings are scheduled to happen simultaneously across all U.S. time zones, so everyone can watch the trailer at the same time, no matter where they are. They're slated for this Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET, 5 p.m. CT, 4 p.m. MT, and 3 p.m. PT. After the live screenings, the trailer will be available for all to watch online. The Wicked screenings are not specific to any theater chain. You can look up screenings in your area here. Wicked: For Good picks up after Elphaba defied gravity on her broomstick and narrowly escaped the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) and Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) in order to save the animals subjugated by their tyrannical rule. Meanwhile, Elphaba's best friend, Glinda — afraid to give up her social status — chose to stay behind rather than join in on her mission. Wicked: For Good places Glinda and Elphaba on opposite sides of major drama in Oz, with Glinda — who is still dating prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) — acting as the Wizard's spokesperson. Meanwhile, the Wizard's henchmen are seeking to find and kill Elphaba, who all of Oz now considers 'wicked' thanks to good old-fashioned propaganda. How will this story end? Well, if you saw The Wizard of Oz, you probably think you know — with Dorothy and company dousing poor Elphie with water and killing her. Yet Wicked: For Good may surprise you — at least, if you haven't seen the musical.
