This Jeep-Looking SUV Is Actually a Honda CR-V Playing Dress Up
A new body kit from Japanese tuner DAMD adds the look of a Cherokee XJ, albeit with modern underpinnings.
The swap comes with a lift, but this kit is more about the look than actually off-roading.
The XJ-series Jeep Cherokee set the stage for the era of the body-on-frame SUV, becoming as much of an icon as its Wrangler cousin in the process. It's such a boxy, charismatic truck, but if you own a vintage example, you do have to put up with fairly chunky ride quality and thirsty fuel-economy figures. That's part of the charm of driving an old truck around–but what if you just wanted the look?
Honda's Halloween Costume
If you live in Japan, then tuner DAMD has you covered. Its latest creation, the Reverb WR-V, takes a humdrum Honda CR-V compact SUV and transforms it into a modern interpretation of what a modernized XJ might look like. You can still see the Honda underneath, but the overall effect is good enough that Jeep might want to start thinking about something more retro-inspired to replace the Compass.
DAMD
Best known as a supplier of body kits and other cosmetic upgrades, the DAMD catalogue is absolutely crammed with whimsy. The Suzuki Jiminy, a tiny SUV once sold on this side of the Pacific as the Suzuki Samurai, can be dressed up as a kleiner Geländewagen called the Little G. Or you can have a tiny Bronco called, you guessed it, the Little B.
The Reverb's WR-V stands for Winsome Runabout Vehicle, which is at once both very Japanese and entirely accurate. The kit extends to a squared-off hood, front grille, and lower bumper. Note that the slots on the grille are one shy of Jeep's trademarked seven.
DAMD
A set of 16-inch steelies wearing BFGoodrich T/A K03s rounds out the look. There's a mild, 1.4-inch lift, but don't expect this Jeep lookalike to be any better at off-roading than a CR-V TrailSport. Plus, that's not really the point here.
A Cheap "Jeep"
The cost for all this Jeepy cosplay seems entirely reasonable, at the equivalent of just over $2000 for the basic body kit. DAMD mostly deals with the Japanese market, but it does have suppliers in the United States. You'd want to check to see if everything would line up on a left-hand-drive CR-V before ordering, though.
DAMD
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then consider this dressed-up Honda as a proper tribute to the XJ. You don't need to have the full off-road capability to appreciate good design.

Lexus is Set To Cut Long-Running Models Within the Next Year
Lexus is Set To Cut Long-Running Models Within the Next Year originally appeared on Autoblog. Lexus hasn't initiated a significant change in its catalog in quite some time, but that familiarity is part of what draws people to the brand. The Japanese automaker is getting ready for a major shakeup, however, and is expected to discontinue several models in the coming months. The long-running Lexus IS and RC will be discontinued late this year, with production of the cars expected to end in November. While that's a bummer, especially the loss of Lexus' excellent V8 in those models, neither car is particularly modern or competitive in its class, with the IS having been on sale since 2014 without a generational update. Lexus' Japanese website states: 'Thank you for considering our vehicles. Production of the IS 500 / IS 350 / IS 300h (AWD) / IS 300 / RC 350 / RC 300h, and RC 300 will end in November 2025. Sales will end once orders reach the production numbers for November. Depending on when you consider purchasing a vehicle, some packages may no longer be available. Please contact your Lexus dealer for details.' The automaker is expected to release a next-generation IS as soon as 2026. Like the new ES, the IS will likely arrive with more electrified options, but the IS 500's iconic V8 probably won't return. The RC may not get a replacement, but spy shots and rumors point to a new sporty Lexus coupe in the near future. Lexus also confirmed the RC F Final Edition has sold out with the following message on its Japan site: "Thank you for your continued patronage of our products. We regret to inform you that the RC F 'Final Edition' has reached its limited number of 200 units and is now sold out. We would like to thank you for your continued patronage of the RC F. The RC 'Final Edition' will be on sale until production ends in November 2025.' Other departures include the LC, which is expected to end production next year, and the UX 300e will end later this year. Reports state that the UX 300h is next, with production ending in March of this probably makes it sound like Lexus is having a tough time of things, but it's more likely that the automaker has reached a natural stopping point for those models. The new ES sedan was just announced, offering compelling new powertrain options, and the all-electric RZ just received an update with more power and faster charging. That's in addition to the brand's wildly popular gas models, which include the new GX, RX, and others. Tesla's Samsung order shift unlikely to hurt TSMC: Morgan Stanley
-- Tesla's decision to shift some semiconductor orders to Samsung (KS:005930) starting in 2027 is unlikely to have a major impact on TSMC's earnings or valuation, according to Morgan Stanley. 'We see limited impact to our TSMC EPS assumptions from 2027 and we don't expect TSMC stock to de-rate because of Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) shifting some orders to Samsung Foundry,' analysts wrote. Tesla recently signed a $16.5 billion chip deal with Samsung, with the new AI5 chip, set to launch in January 2026, still being manufactured using TSMC's 3nm process. Morgan Stanley noted that the AI5 is expected to deliver four to five times the performance of its predecessor and will continue production through 2026. Although the AI6 chip will reportedly shift to Samsung in 2027 using a 2nm process, the bank estimates this represents only about a 1% revenue loss for TSMC. 'Strategically, we would never assume TSMC can acquire 100% market share in the leading edge,' Morgan Stanley said, citing common practices of using multiple foundry partners for pricing and engineering flexibility. Moreover, the firm expects TSMC to continue supplying Tesla and cloud AI chips. 'We are also seeing a 3nm AI ASIC from to be produced in 2026 through TSMC's design service partner GUC,' analysts noted, estimating those cloud AI chips could add 0.5% to 2027 revenue. Morgan Stanley also highlighted longer-term growth potential in China's smart and AI vehicle market, calling it 'a viable long-term growth driver for TSMC.' By brand, the core Nio lineup contributed 12,675 units in July, down 38% from last year. Sub?brand Onvo delivered 5,976 vehicles, while Firefly added 2,366. GuruFocus has detected 3 Warning Signs with NIO. The company is now pinning near?term momentum on the new Onvo L90 SUV, which officially launched with a starting price of RMB 265,800 ($36,850) and began deliveries in 44 Chinese cities. Onvo increased available test drive vehicles to 1,000 to capture rising interest, and early social media reports point to strong showroom traffic. Based on the one year price targets offered by 24 analysts, the average target price for NIO Inc is $4.97 with a high estimate of $8.99 and a low estimate of $3.00.
