Aces' Pozzato named Missouri Valley Freshman of the Week
HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – University of Evansville guard Gabriel Pozzato has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week for a second time this season.
In two games last week, the Italian scored 17.0 points per game and tallied 6.5 rebounds per game while playing in 77 of 80 possible game minutes. He also recorded eight assists and two steals.
In the 67-78 loss against the University of Illinois-Chicago, Pozzato scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds and five assists. He then dropped 21 points and a career-high seven rebounds in the 78-68 win over Valparaiso.
The freshman missed eight games from December 12, 2024, until January 18, 2025. He is now averaging a team-high 14.8 points per game on 46.1% shooting from the field.
Evansville hosts Murray State at Ford Center on Wednesday, January 29 at 7:00 p.m. CT.
