Man arrested for stealing Rolex watch in car

BATU PAHAT: A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing a Rolex watch worth more than RM100,000 that the owner had left in a car parked in the compound of his house in Taman Sinar Berlian, here.
Batu Pahat police chief ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the victim discovered the theft at about 9.30pm last Tuesday after noticing signs of a break-in on his car.
In addition to the Rolex watch, valued at RM100,700, the victim also reported RM700 missing from the vehicle, he said, adding that a search operation was launched immediately upon receiving the report.
"At about 3am the following day (Wednesday), police arrested the suspect at a house in Taman Seri Wangsa and recovered the stolen watch.
"Police also seized clothing and equipment believed to have been used during the break-in.
"A urine test conducted on the suspect returned positive for Methamphetamine and further checks revealed that he had 14 records for criminal and drug-related offences," he said in a statement today.
The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
Meanwhile, in another case, two men aged 50 and 36 were arrested for alleged involvement in a housebreaking case in Taman Soga Sutera and the theft of a car that was parked in front of the house on June 22.
Shahrulanuar said the victim realised his house had been broken into after finding some of his valuables missing, with losses estimated at RM65,000.
"The first suspect was arrested in Peserai, at around 5pm the same day, while the second suspect was arrested a few hours later in Bandar Hilir, Melaka.
"Police also managed to recover the stolen items," he said in a statement.
He said police also seized clothes and several equipment believed to have been used by the suspect in the incident, as well as heroin weighing an estimated 27.28g (RM682) and Syabu weighing 4.26g (RM468.60).
He said both of them tested positive for Methamphetamine, and with records for crime and drug-related offences.

KUALA LUMPUR: Merlimau assemblyman Datuk Dr Muhammad Akmal Salleh and Gombak Setia assemblyman Muhammad Hilman Idham will be charged in court soon, according to the Attorney General's Office (AGC). The AGC in a statement today announced that based on the evidence and statements obtained, the department has decided to file charges under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code (Act 574) against Dr Akmal and Muhammad Hilman Idham. 'This department has examined the investigation papers submitted by the Royal Malaysia Police regarding the statements made by Dr Akmal on the Facebook page 'Akmal Saleh' and Muhammad Hilman via the TikTok platform ' 'The statements made by the individuals were found to have threatened public order or constituted improper use of network facilities or network services,' the statement said. The same statement informed that charges will also be made against Chandrasegaran Subramaniam and Siti Hajar Aflah Sharuddin, in relation to the statements uploaded on the TikTok accounts 'cikguchandra3' and 'SHA_Abrienda' respectively. 'Siti Hajar will also be charged under Act 574 while Chandrasegaran will be charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988 (Act 588). 'All charges will be presented at the Magistrate's Court with local jurisdiction in the near future,' the AGC said. Meanwhile, Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar, when contacted, informed that Akmal Salleh will be charged at a Magistrate's Court in Penang in the near future. 'YB Akmal will be charged depending on his whereabouts,' he said. Meanwhile, Akmal Salleh in a post on his Facebook page stated that he is currently performing Umrah in Makkah and will return to the country to face charges on Friday at the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate's Court. Based on a review of the court system, Muhammad Hilman's case will be mentioned tomorrow before Magistrate Amira Abd Aziz, at the Criminal Magistrate's Court here. Chandrasegaran will also be charged tomorrow at the Sessions Court in Shah Alam before Judge Nor Hasniah Ab Razak. – Bernama
