But the day ended on a sad note for the driver as he failed to even finish the race, while his closest competitor, Pascal Wehrlein, clinched second spot on the podium, closing the gap between them in the Formula E Driver Standings. Rowland has confirmed that he did doubt his championship win when things didn't play out well that day.
Oliver Rowland was worried after how Round 13 turned out in Berlin
There was reason to be worried for Nissan driver Oliver Rowland when TAG Heuer Porsche's Pascal Wehrlein closed the gap between them in the Driver Standings to 50 points.
He was second in the Formula E Driver Standings and could have changed the championship outcome with two more races remaining in the season.
Sharing his fears in an interview with Formula E, he said, 'I was hoping before the weekend that the outcome could be [the World Championship], but after yesterday (Saturday) and this morning (Sunday) I was more worried that it might never come.'
Pascal Wehrlein's Round 14 performance sealed Oliver Rowland's championship win
Pascal Wehrlein ended 15th in the Round 14 race on Sunday despite starting from pole position.
Rowland eventually bounced back to finally seal his championship win by finishing fourth in the race. He missed out on the podium, which had Jaguar TCS Racing's Nick Cassidy as the winner, but his 12 points, along with his closest competitor Pascal Wehrlein's disappointing performance, were enough for him to clinch the championship.
'I wasn't aware of where Pascal was at all. My engineer came on, I think with four or five laps to go, and said 'P4 is good,' and I thought that's a bit weird.

Then I looked at the TV screen, and I got to about eighth, and I thought, 'Oh, he's not in the top eight then.' The next time I came around looking again, I found him when I started from the bottom. I didn't know if he'd had a problem, so then I was aware that fourth would be enough if Wehrlein didn't score, so I knew that myself.
I didn't want to ask, because I didn't want to jinx anything,' he said.
Oliver Rowland looking forward to his home race now
Oliver Rowland took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a post to mark his Formula E Championship win. Sharing a few pictures of his celebrations with his team, the Nissan driver wrote: '2025 FIA FORMULA E WORLD CHAMPION! It still hasn't quite sunk in what we have achieved this season. I couldn't have imagined being in this position 2 years ago! Thank you to my incredible team @nismo & everyone that's supported me! Thank you for all the messages and well wishes I've received in the last 48 hours! We still have one job left to do in London!'

Nissan Magnite scores 5 stars in Global NCAP crash test

The Nissan Magnite has significantly improved its safety credentials, achieving a full 5-star rating for adult occupant protection in the latest round of crash tests conducted by Global NCAP. This upgrade follows a series of key safety enhancements implemented by Nissan in response to earlier test results. Initially, the Magnite was rated just 2 stars for both adult and child occupant protection under the updated Global NCAP testing protocols. These protocols include assessments for frontal and side impact, electronic stability control (ESC), pedestrian protection, and seatbelt reminders. Following this, Nissan took swift action to enhance the vehicle's safety package. The most notable additions include six airbags as standard—comprising front, side, and curtain units—as well as ESC and improved occupant restraint systems. Further safety improvements include the adoption of 3-point seatbelts for all seating positions, and structural changes aimed at increasing protection during side impacts. These updates helped the Magnite score 32.31 out of 34 points for adult occupant protection, a significant improvement that places it among the safest models in its category. In terms of child safety, the Magnite also performed better, earning 3 stars with a score of 33.64 out of 49. The child seat installations offered good protection, although there remains room for improvement in terms of ISOFIX availability and support for the full range of child restraint systems. The vehicle also showed compliance with pedestrian protection requirements and other key safety performance benchmarks, in line with Global NCAP's Safer Cars for Africa and India campaigns. This achievement is particularly significant as the Magnite becomes the first vehicle tested under the current Global NCAP protocols in South Africa to be awarded a 5-star adult safety rating. It also reflects Nissan's commitment to enhancing vehicle safety in emerging markets. The Magnite is available with three powertrain options - a turbo petrol engine, naturally aspirated engine and a CNG one. What is the price of the Nissan Magnite? The Magnite is currently priced between ₹6.14 lakh and ₹11.76 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom. Yes, Nissan Motor India recently introduced a CNG powertrain for the Magnite. The new variant is priced at ₹6.89 lakh ex-showroom. In contrast to many rivals that offer CNG kits pre-installed at the factory, the Nissan Magnite CNG is equipped with its kit at the dealership level. This means the CNG system is added after the car leaves the manufacturing facility, but still through authorised channels. The CNG system used in the Magnite is developed and manufactured by Motozen, a third-party supplier. It features a single 12 kg cylinder and is fitted at government-certified installation centres. While Motozen provides a warranty for the CNG components, Nissan continues to honour its standard vehicle warranty of three years or 1 lakh kilometres, even with the post-manufacture CNG installation. Nissan Magnite scores 5 stars at Global NCAP after these upgrades: Details

The made-in-India Nissan Magnite compact SUV has scored a star safety rating in the latest round of crash tests carried out by Global NCAP . This represents a major upgrade from its earlier performance, where it had received just a 2-star rating under the same evaluation system. This marks a significant leap forward compared to the earlier version, fitted with just two airbags, which had scored only two stars in both categories. When Magnite was first crash tested in 2022 under the previous testing protocol, it had scored 4 stars for adult protection and 2 stars for child safety. Later, the Magnite was re-evaluated under Global NCAP's updated and more rigorous testing protocol, which now included side-impact assessments and stricter safety criteria. Initially, the results were underwhelming, with the SUV earning only a 2-star rating. In response, Nissan took initiative and voluntarily submitted the Magnite for reassessment not once, but twice. MG M9 first drive review: More than just a fancy box on wheels? After the initial low safety rating, Nissan implemented a series of key upgrades to improve the Magnite's crash test performance. The first phase introduced six airbags and electronic stability control (ESC), which helped raise the safety rating to four stars. The company didn't stop here; the Japanese Automaker continued refining the SUV's safety package. The second set of improvements included upgraded restraint systems, pedestrian protection enhancements, and 3-point seatbelts for all seating positions. These efforts ultimately led to Magnite achieving a 5-star rating for adult occupant protection and 3 stars for child safety. The SUV has now scored an impressive 32.31 out of 34 for adult protection and 33.64 out of 49 in the child safety assessment . The Magnite is offered with two engine options - 1.0-litre NA petrol with 72hp of power, 96Nm torque, and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol with 100hp of power, 160Nm torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard across both. The NA petrol is offered with a 5-speed AMT, whereas the turbo-petrol engine gets a CVT option. Nissan claims a fuel efficiency of 20kpl with the manual and 17.4kpl for the CVT turbo variants. In terms of features, the SUV gets LED headlights, DRLs, fog lamps, LED tail lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, 360-degree camera, wireless charger, 7.0-inch digital instrument, auto dimming IRVM, Type-C charging ports and more. Safety-wise, it gets six airbags, ESC, three-point seatbelts and seatbelt reminders for all seats, as standard. Discover everything about the automotive world at Times of India .
