Metro Manila, Bulacan, other areas flooded after heavy rains
In Zamboanga City, floods reached the average human height, forcing families to evacuate, as reported on GMA's '24 Oras Weekend' on Sunday. A river in the area has also overflowed to reach nearby roads and houses.
At least 27 families have been evacuated temporarily to the Cabatangan Barangay Hall, and another 25 to the Ayala gymnasium due to the floods. Authorities continue to hold rescue operations, with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) on Blue Alert since Friday, June 6, due to the inclement weather conditions.
One fatality, only identified as a male, was reported to have drowned while swimming in the ocean.
Floods were also recorded in San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan, and in Roxas Boulevard that runs along the shores of the Manila Bay.
In Barangay San Rafael I in SJDM, the waters rose so quickly that it damaged a bridge railing and brought trash into the flooded streets.
"In the span of 30 minutes, talagang sumobrang laki na po ng tubig. Kaya hindi po namin sukat-akalain na lalaki nang sobrang laki yung tubig, at babahain kami ng sobra," said a barangay official.
(In the span of 30 minutes, the waters rose so much. We would not have imagined that the level would rise that much and flood us to this extent.)
In its 11 p.m. weather advisory on Sunday, PAGASA said that 50 millimeters to 100 millimeters of rainfall is expected in Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Antique until Monday evening due to the Habagat. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA Integrated News

(It has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression and its chance of entering PAR is also low.) Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon is affecting the western part of Southern Luzon. Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan may expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Habagat. Flash floods or landslides may possibly result due to moderate to at times heavy rains. The rest of the country on the other hand will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may result. Coastal waters will be moderate in the western section of Luzon, and slight to moderate in the rest of the country. The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) and the effects of the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat is causing rains over parts of the country, state weather bureau PAGASA said Saturday afternoon. According to PAGASA's daily weather forecast at 4 p.m. Saturday, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms may be expected over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands due to the trough of the LPA. The Southwest Monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur. The rest of the country will be having partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms. PAGASA defines a trough as the elongated area of low barometric pressure that generally stretches north and south. Flash floods or landslides may occur in some areas of the country as a result of these weather conditions. Meanwhile, the northern and western sections of Luzon are expected to have moderate winds with moderate waters. The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters. LPA's trough to bring rains over Northern, Central Luzon
A low pressure area with a small chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours will affect Northern and Central Luzon, PAGASA said in its early Saturday morning forecast. The Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands will see cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms because of the trough of the LPA, which was located 640 km west of Iba, Zambales at 2 a.m. Similar weather conditions are expected in Metro Manila, Visayas, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and the Bicol Region due to the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat. The rest of the country will experience localized thunderstorms. Winds and coastal waters will be moderate in the northern and western sections of Luzon, while the rest of the country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
