LPA trough, Habagat to bring scattered rains over parts of Luzon
The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring scattered rains over parts of Luzon on Sunday, PAGASA said.
Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of the LPA. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides.
This LPA, whose trough or extension is affecting the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon, is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB on Sunday morning.
"Mababa ang tsansa nito na maging bagyo at mababa rin ang tsansa nitong pumasok ng PAR," she said.
(It has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression and its chance of entering PAR is also low.)
Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon is affecting the western part of Southern Luzon.
Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan may expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Habagat. Flash floods or landslides may possibly result due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
The rest of the country on the other hand will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may result.
Coastal waters will be moderate in the western section of Luzon, and slight to moderate in the rest of the country.

LPA inside PAR has ‘medium' chance of turning into storm — PAGASA
The low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a 'medium' chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Sunday afternoon. At 3 p.m., the LPA was located 585 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. For now, its trough is expected to affect the weather conditions of Ilocos Region, Apayao, Cagayan, Zambales, and Bataan, according to the state weather bureau's 4 p.m. weather forecast. Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will persist over Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat). Meanwhile, the rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. Residents of affected areas were warned against flash floods or landslides. Meanwhile, the LPA observed outside PAR has a 'high' chance of turning into a storm, PAGASA said At 2 p.m., it was located at 1,010 km west of Northern Luzon. State meteorologists also said the western sections of Luzon will experience moderate wind and coastal water conditions. Winds will be light to moderate, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the rest of the country. LPA trough, Habagat cause rains over parts of PH — PAGASA
The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) and the effects of the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat is causing rains over parts of the country, state weather bureau PAGASA said Saturday afternoon. According to PAGASA's daily weather forecast at 4 p.m. Saturday, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms may be expected over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands due to the trough of the LPA. The Southwest Monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur. The rest of the country will be having partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms. PAGASA defines a trough as the elongated area of low barometric pressure that generally stretches north and south. Flash floods or landslides may occur in some areas of the country as a result of these weather conditions. Meanwhile, the northern and western sections of Luzon are expected to have moderate winds with moderate waters. The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters. Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:43 a.m. Sunday. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/ VDV, GMA Integrated News
