PM Modi Launches 105 Projects Worth Over Rs 18,600 Crore In Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched 105 development projects valued at over Rs 18,600 crores, unveiled the "Odisha Vision Document" and flagged off new trains during his visit to the state.
He also felicitated several people, including 'Lakhpati Didis' and others.
PM Modi, who visited Odisha for the sixth time since the BJP government was formed in the state in June 2024, launched the projects at a function at Janata Maidan here.
The projects launched by the Prime Minister included drinking water and irrigation, health infrastructure, rural roads and bridges, national highways and railway infrastructure.
PM Modi flagged off the first passenger train to Boudh district after inaugurating the Sonepur-Purunakatak railway line. Railway projects such as the third and fourth rail lines between Sarla-Sason and the fourth rail line between Jharsuguda-Jamga were also launched.
This apart, PM Modi also flagged off 100 electric buses under the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) system, promoting eco-friendly urban mobility.
Prepared following people's feedback, the Prime Minister unveiled the 'Odisha Vision Document', the roadmap for the state's development goals, anchored around the centenary of Odisha's formation as a linguistic state in 2036 and India's 100 years of independence in 2047.
The vision aims to transform Odisha into a Dollar 500 billion economy by 2036 and a Dollar 1.5 trillion economy by 2047.
The Prime Minister also launched 'Baraputra Aitihya Gram Yojana', an initiative to transform birthplaces of Odia icons into memorials, featuring museums, interpretation centres, statues and libraries, thereby promoting cultural tourism and preserving heritage.
Modi also felicitated some women achievers from across the state, who included some "Lakhpati Didis".
'Lakhpati Didi' is an initiative of the Ministry of Rural Development focused on empowering women in Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The goal is to help them achieve an annual household income exceeding Rs one lakh by adopting sustainable livelihood practices.
The state tops the list of creating 16.60 lakh 'Lakhpati Didis' in the country.

Domestic electronics contract manufacturer Dixon Technologies has formed a Rs 370 crore joint venture for display modules manufacturing with Chinese company HKC Overseas. The Dixon Technologies-HKC Overseas joint venture is for manufacturing and selling of LCD and TFT-LCD modules that are used in electronic devices like TV, mobile phones etc for display, a regulatory filing said on Saturday. "Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd has entered into a Term Sheet with HKC Corporation Ltd to form a joint venture for manufacturing of Liquid Crystal Modules, thin film transistor liquid crystal display modules, assembly of end products such as smartphones, TVs, monitors and auto displays and selling HKC branded end products in India," the filing said. HKC Overseas Ltd will acquire 26 per cent stake in Dixon Display Technologies Pvt Ltd (DDTPL) for USD 10.998 million, about Rs 95.5 crore and Dixon will acquire 74 per cent stake in the JV for USD 31.3 million, about Rs 274 crore in two tranches. "The company, HKC and DDTPL have executed the SSHA (share subscription and shareholders' agreement) on August 16, 2025," the filing said. Dixon has been on a spree of forming joint ventures with Chinese technology companies. Last month, the company had announced a JV with Chinese electronic component firms -- Chongqing Yuhai Precision Manufacturing Co Ltd and the Indian arm of Kunshan Q Technology -- for manufacturing and sales of electronic components used in electronic devices like mobile phones and laptops, among others. President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to take on the additional charge of Nagaland following the death of Governor La. Ganesan, according to an official statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan. "Consequent upon the demise of Shri La. Ganesan, Governor of Nagaland, the President of India has appointed Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Governor of Manipur, to discharge the functions of the Governor of Nagaland, in addition to his own duties," a Rashtrapati Bhavan Press Communique said. La Ganesan Demise La Ganesan passed away at 6.23 pm on August 15 at Apollo Hospital in Chennai. He was admitted to the ICU for intensive monitoring and treatment after collapsing at his home in Chennai on August 8 and sustaining a head injury. La Ganesan's Political Career Born in 1945 in Tanjore, Tamil Nadu, La Ganesan's association with the RSS predated his schooling. He joined the BJP in 1991 to help broaden the party's base in Tamil Nadu, serving as Organising Secretary, National Secretary, All India Vice President, and State President. Ganesan was asked in 1991 to serve in the BJP to help broaden the party's base after being appointed Joint State Organiser of the Tamil Nadu RSS. He went on to serve as Organising Secretary of the Tamil Nadu BJP, National Secretary, All India Vice President, and was later appointed State President of Tamil Nadu. Ganesan was appointed Governor of Manipur from August 27, 2021, to February 19, 2023, and also held additional charge as Governor of West Bengal between July 18, 2022, and November 17, 2022. Chennai, Aug 16 (UNI) Launching a blistering attack on the BJP-led Government at the centre and its revived ally the AIADMK, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin tonight said the ruling DMK-led Front was united by democracy, social justice, equality and brotherhood and those anti-democratic forces trying to create division will not succeed in their efforts, in an veiled reference to the 2026 Assembly polls. In a lengthy speech at the CPI State Conferrence at Salem tonight, he said those opposing democracy, social justice and hatred and equality in society were opposing our front. "That's why they are trying to create a division among us. But I am saying with full determination and commitment that their conspiracy will not why the conference was named as victory for democracy". Stating that our goal was bigger, he said the aim was to unite all forces opposed to comunalism, division, imperialism , he said all said democratic forces should fight unitedly in this regard as this meeting united all of us on safeguarding demcoracy, socilk justice, equality and brotherhood. Declaring that democracy will win ultimately and that this strength lies in the this alliance, the Chief Minister said the Centre has made the election proceedings as a mockery of justice.
