Rapid KL On-Demand service adds 12 new zones in Shah Alam and Klang
In a statement yesterday, Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, announced that the expanded service will include the areas of Persiaran Dato Menteri-KTM Shah Alam, KTM Padang Jawa-Terminal 17, KTM Padang Jawa-Seksyen 7, U12 Cahaya Alam, Bandar Baru Klang and KTM Klang-Batu Belah.
The service will also be available in Taman Summit, KTM Klang-Teluk Gadong, Sri Andalas, Klang Jaya, Bandar Bukit Tinggi and Bandar Puteri.
'The expansion of the van service is part of Prasarana's ongoing commitment to strengthen urban mobility networks and improve accessibility to public transportation, particularly for first-mile and last-mile connectivity,' the statement read.
Acting Prasarana Group president and chief executive officer, Amir Hamdan, was quoted as saying that the move reflects the company's goal of bringing communities closer to a reliable and inclusive public transport system.
'This isn't just about expanding routes, but more about ensuring equitable access to public transport.
'We want to make sure that every city dweller has access to mobility solutions that are efficient, affordable, and suited to their daily needs, especially in areas previously underserved by conventional bus routes,' he said.
In a related development, the company said the Desa Pinggiran Putra-Dataran Gemilang Putrajaya service zone will be merged with the MRT Putrajaya Sentral-PICC route and renamed 'MRT Putrajaya Sentral-PICC and Desa Pinggiran Putra' to offer a more integrated and comprehensive service.
The Rapid KL On-Demand van service guarantees a seat for each ride and is available daily from 6 am to 11.30 pm with a promotional fare of just RM1.00 per trip remains in effect to encourage more users to try the service.
Bookings can be made easily via the Rapid On-Demand app downloadable from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 July — Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has identified the highways and expressways affected by the toll-rate freeze announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim this morning. He said 10 highways were due for toll rate increases under concession agreements signed by previous administrations. 'However, the Madani government deeply understands the cost of living pressures currently faced by the people. 'Therefore, this step to postpone toll rate increases is hoped to ease the burden on highway users,' the minister said in a statement after Anwar's announcement. The highways affected by the toll suspension are the Cheras-Kajang Highway (Grand Saga), KL-Kuala Selangor Highway (LATAR), New North Klang Straits Bypass (NNKSB), and Senai-Desaru Expressway (SDE). Also included are the East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2), South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE), Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge (JSAHMS), Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE), Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Expressway (MEX), and Butterworth Outer Ring Road (LLB). The suspension is expected to benefit around 941,000 users, especially daily commuters travelling between home and work. Selangor prepared to postpone parking scheme, says exco man
Selangor local government executive councillor Ng Suee Lim said there is still time for the state government to review and resolve the issues raised by various quarters over the parking scheme. (Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : The Selangor government is prepared to postpone the introduction of the Smart Intelligent Parking (SIP) system, which would see a private company roped in for the collection of parking fees and enforcement. State local government executive councillor Ng Suee Lim said there is still time for the state government to review and resolve the issues that had been raised by various quarters. He also gave the assurance that the final form of the SIP would benefit all parties, including the local councils involved, Berita Harian reported. 'We have met with the local councillors (from the local governments involved in the first phase of the SIP). We take the concerns raised seriously. However, we still have time to study and find a win-win solution. 'If more time is needed for further discussions to be held, we are willing to postpone the SIP's implementation,' he was quoted as saying. The SIP is slated for implementation in Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam and Selayang on Aug 1, involving the four local councils, state-owned Rantaian Mesra Sdn Bhd and a private company. Enforcement would be carried out by the local councils with Rantaian Mesra to act as a system coordinator. The private company, which has yet to be appointed, will handle the four local councils' daily parking operations. Earlier today, Pakatan Harapan MPs representing the four constituencies urged the state government to review the proposal and to set up an independent bipartisan committee to reassess the scheme. They said they were 'especially troubled' by the apparent prioritisation of private interests over the rights and welfare of their constituents and the local councils, calling for the Aug 1 launch to be delayed. Ng said the SIP was a key component of the state government's aspiration to develop 'smart cities', and that the plan was to expand it to the rest of Selangor.
