See which Rams players cracked CBS Sports' top-100 player list
The 2025 NFL season is quickly approaching (in a few months), which means everyone is beginning to take a hard look at the state of the league, the teams and which players will have the biggest impact on the year.
CBS Sports' Pete Prisco ranked his top 100 players heading into the 2025. Three Rams made the list, but all three finished outside the top-50: Edge rusher Jared Verse (No. 54), wide receiver Puka Nacua (No. 63) and wide receiver Davante Adams (No. 91).
Verse, as a rookie in 2024, wasn't ranked. Nacua moved up three spots, though, while Adams dropped 65 spots from being Prisco's No. 26 player a year ago.
Oddly enough, neither quarterback Matthew Stafford nor running back Kyren Williams made the list despite their statistical accomplishments in 2024 and predicted ability heading into the season. Prisco ranked 11 other quarterbacks and eight other running backs, which should give you and indication of where Stafford and Williams could rank in his eyes.
Here's what Prisco had to say about all three Rams players on his list.
No. 54 Jared Verse
"Verse had 4.5 sacks as a rookie, but the pressure numbers show how dominant he can be as an edger player. He did rack up a lot of them on his way to winning Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. He's also good in the run game. This could be his breakout sack season."
No. 63 Puka Nacua
"He was limited to 12 games because of injury, yet Nacua still managed to catch 79 passes with three touchdowns. That number was down from the 105 he had as a rookie, but he did average more catches per game."
No. 91 Davante Adams

3 Panthers greats named to ESPN's All Quarter Century Team
3 Panthers greats named to ESPN's All Quarter Century Team A few Carolina Panthers greats have left their mark here in the 21st century. ESPN analytics gurus Aaron Schatz and Seth Walder have compiled their "NFL All Quarter Century Team," highlighting the league's best players over the last 25 years. Included on the 53-man squad are three very familiar names to Panthers fans, beginning with running back Christian McCaffrey. Walder writes: As the best receiving back of the past 25 years, McCaffrey needs to be included on this roster. He averages 47 receiving yards per game, which is more than anyone else with at least 500 carries during that span. But he's not only a receiving back. What makes McCaffrey special is that he has maintained 4.7 yards per carry over his career, 14th-best among running backs this quarter century. One of those years (2019) saw McCaffrey become just the third back in NFL history to amass 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards over a single season. McCaffrey, who was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in the middle of the 2022 campaign, still stands as the franchise's fourth-leading rusher (3,980 yards) and sixth-leading receiver (3,292). Joining McCaffrey are the two greatest defensive players in team history, edge rusher Julius Peppers and linebacker Luke Kuechly. Walder notes the following of the latter: Kuechly's career burned so hot over its short eight-year span. The only one of those seasons in which he did not reach the Pro Bowl and earn first- or second-team All-Pro honors was 2012 ... when he won Defensive Rookie of the Year. Kuechly's 9.2 tackles per game and 0.15 interceptions per game are the second and third most of any linebacker in this century, respectively. Unfortunately, Kuechly did not follow Peppers' path in becoming a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer earlier this year. He does, however, have a head-start for the next group—as he's already been named a finalist for the 2026 class. Follow @ThePanthersWire on Twitter/X for more Panthers content.

CBS Sports includes 8 Lions in Top 100 players of 2025 list
A list released Tuesday includes eight Detroit Lions among the best 100 players in the NFL entering the 2025-26 season. CBS Sports senior NFL columnist Pete Prisco's NFL Top 100 players of 2025 list is headlined by star players at the top including Patrick Mahomes at No. 1 and Saquon Barkley at No. 3. The first Lions player doesn't appear until outside the top 10. Advertisement Lions superstar edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson slots in at No. 15 coming off of last season's injury that put a halt to his Defensive Player of the Year campaign. To his credit, Prisco ranked Hutchinson No. 47 before the start of last season. Hutchinson fell below other top pass rushers on this year's list including Myles Garrett (No. 2), Micah Parsons (No. 10), and T.J. Watt (No. 11). He's just a few spots ahead of Chris Jones (No. 18) and Trey Hendrickson (No. 26). The next Lion ranked is right tackle Penei Sewell at No. 21. Prisco acknowledged in his list that Sewell is in the conversation for best right tackle in the NFL, but did have him ranked at No. 17 in last season's list. The only right tackle ranked ahead of Sewell is longtime Eagles O-lineman Lane Johnson (No. 12). Advertisement A couple more scrolls down this list is running back Jahmyr Gibbs at No. 32. Gibbs had a stellar 2024-25 season while splitting time with David Montgomery and is expected to build on that this season. Prisco didn't have Gibbs ranked ahead of last season. He only trails Barkley at No. 3 and Derrick Henry at No. 14 on this year's list. The gap at this point in the list is a bit jarring, getting all the way outside the top 50 before getting to wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown at No. 58. St. Brown finished second in the NFL in catches last season and was ranked No. 39 on Prisco's list entering last season. St. Brown surprisingly fell behind several other receivers on this list including Brian Thomas Jr. (No. 44) and Malik Nabers (No. 45). Even sitting a spot behind Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield at No. 57 seems like a stretch. Advertisement The list lumps the Lions' talented safety duo fairly close together at this point in the list with Kerby Joseph at No. 60 and Brian Branch at No. 65. Neither of them were ranked on Prisco's list last season, but they were one of the bright spots on a struggling defensive unit by the time the playoffs rolled around. Quarterback Jared Goff comes in at No. 77 after having the best year of his career last season. He moved down only one spot from last season's list. He's several spots below peers like Jalen Hurts (No. 52) and Mayfield (No. 57), but is sitting well ahead of Dak Prescott (No. 90) and Jordan Love (No. 92). The last Lion on this list is tight end Sam LaPorta at No. 86. It's a steep drop from his spot on last season's list (No. 58), but his numbers did see a steep decline compared to his rookie season. Still, LaPorta is ranked ahead of Travis Kelce (No. 96) and is one of only five tight ends included in the top 100. You can see Prisco's full list here. Rams re-sign former Georgia Bulldog days after his release
Rams re-sign former Georgia Bulldog days after his release The Los Angeles Rams have re-signed former Georgia Bulldogs and Clemson Tigers cornerback Derion Kendrick. The Rams re-signed Kendrick just a few days after they waived him. Kendrick spent the first three seasons of his NFL career with Los Angeles, but missed the 2024 NFL season after suffering a torn ACL in training camp. The 6-foot, 200-pound cornerback started 18 of 32 games during his first two seasons with the Rams. If fully healthy, then Kendrick is expected to compete for a starting role with the Rams or to at least make Los Angeles' active roster for games. The Rams drafted Kendrick with a sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft. During Kendrick's last healthy season in 2023, he recorded 49 tackles, 10 pass deflections and one interception. Kendrick participated in organized team activities, but it is unclear if he is able to join the team in Maui, Hawaii, for minicamp from June 16-18. Kendrick played the first three years of his college football career at Clemson before he transferred to Georgia for the 2021 season. He helped Georgia win a national championship and came up big for the Dawgs in the College Football Playoff. The Rams have four former Georgia Bulldogs on their roster in Kendrick, quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Stetson Bennett and offensive lineman Warren McClendon.
