I stayed at the super relaxing Greek resort with hidden beaches, laid-back DJ tunes and private pools

The Sun30-05-2025
ALL I can hear is the rustling of the tamarisk trees, splashing water and the occasional scrape of a patio chair.
My inability to relax on holiday is certainly being tested. I could get used to this.

That's the ethos of the Numo Ierapetra Beach Resort tucked into the southern curve of Crete — slow and easy living.
Having joined the Hilton's Curio Collection last year, the adults-only 5H resort still feels sparklingly new, despite having opened its doors in 2021.
I spent the next few days in utter bliss. Barely an hour after checking in, my first stop was the spa for the hotel's complimentary 15-minute massage.
I was surprised at how such a short session was one of the best I've ever had.
The stubborn knots lining my shoulder blades were easily unkinked within a few minutes.
The relaxation continued at the hotel swimming pools, with two to choose from.
The main, bigger pool is the most popular, lined with sun loungers covered in squishy striped covers you sink into as you sunbathe, or snooze.
Live DJ sets and even saxophone players sprang up throughout the day, but they did not feel overwhelming.
There is just a laid-back, beach club vibe. I became a frequent visitor to the pool bar too, making it my mission to try all the signature cocktails.
The Numo Tequila Sunrise was a firm favourite.
The TUI guide to Crete from best beaches to passport rules
The smaller, tucked-away swimming pool is the place for a quiet escape, with no music and just serene, bright-blue water overlooked by the mountains.
While Crete doesn't have private beaches, the dark sandy one behind Numo feels secluded enough when swimming in the Mediterranean Sea.

But the star of the show was my grandly named King Evergreen Absolute Suite, which was surrounded by a huge outdoor deck with its own plunge pool.

When I craved some privacy in the evenings, I relaxed on private loungers while dipping my toes into the water.
Rooms are inspired by the tamarisk trees that line the coastline, with muted green, grey and brown decor.
Even the entry-level rooms come with this modern palette and a balcony or terrace.
My suite was definitely a step up, though, with a cosy lounge area, spacious bedroom and huge open-plan bathroom complete with a roll-top bath.
A day of drinking wine on the patio meant I needed to line my stomach, and stays at the Numo Ierapetra Beach Resort can include breakfast or half-board with dinner.
The buffet restaurant Tamarisk has some of the best views of the house, with the pool to one side and the beach to the other.
But what the buffet lacks in size, it makes up for in taste.
One evening, my rich lamb was accompanied by spinach orzo, and a cabbage and kimchee salad.
The next day, I gorged on creamy pasta with barbecued chicken and a variety of Greek salads.
The spread at breakfast includes fresh hot pastries, bread, fruit and cooked options.
There is also a speciality restaurant called Menoa, serving Peruvian cuisine such as fresh fish tacos, and you will get a discount if staying half-board.
Guests can head to Kafené, the onsite cafe and gift shop, for an authentic Greek coffee made by heating it in sand.
I was amazed by how quiet the resort felt, despite being at full capacity.
And there is more than enough to keep you busy.
A highlight was the outdoor cinema, screening films such as Mamma Mia! and Barbie every evening.
You can spend the afternoon browsing the hotel's clothes shop before a personal training session at the gym.
While the resort does its best to stop you from wanting to leave, we took a day trip to nearby Kristas.
One of the oldest villages on the island, it has pretty, winding alleyways and hundreds of plants surrounding doorways.

It is also the best place for a souvenir, with locally made jewellery and clothing stores alongside more touristy trinket spots, selling magnets and pottery.
It is only as the midday heat started getting to me that I was tempted back to the hotel for a dip in the ocean before yet another delicious dinner.
I had certainly never felt so zen. Who needs yoga when you can head to Numo instead?

Kate Moss in hysterics at naked man as she takes daughter to nude beach in Formentera

KATE Moss couldn't hide her feelings as she caught sight of a naked man on the beach while holidaying in Formentera. The supermodel, 51, enjoyed a bit of sea, sand and sunshine with her daughter Lila Grace, 22, and her boyfriend Yoni Helbitz, 23. 7 7 7 Kate slipped into a leopard print bikini for the beach outing teamed with oversized sunglasses worn on her head. The British star and her family were seen mingling with beauty entrepreneur Charlotte Tilbury's niece Bella Tilbury. But Kate was left very distracted when a bare-all beachgoer strolled across the beach. The uninvited guest left nothing to the imagination, giving the fashion icon a front-row seat to an unexpected full-frontal surprise. The model pulled a grimacing expression, but was then seen laughing it off while relaxing on a sun lounger. Kate put her trim physique on display in the co-ord swimwear as she walked across the beach. She then enjoyed a dip in the sea before she dried off and wrapped herself in a beach towel. Kate showed off her natural beauty with minimal makeup and her blonde hair tied into a messy bun. Earlier this week, Kate looked sensational as she stripped to a bikini and accessorised with a £35,000 designer bag on the beach. The supermodel opted for neutral-coloured swimwear but covered up with a white blouse as she hit the beach in Spain. Inside Kate Moss' wild new lifestyle as pals fear boozy supermodel, 51, is going back to her old 90s partying ways Later in the day, they were spotted taking a trip on a private boat. Just last week, during a recent trip to Ibiza, Kate was seen covering her boobs as she swam topless. Kate has been modelling since she was 14, and she is proving she's still at the top of her game. Recently, away from her vacations, she posed in just stockings and a bra for a steamy Saint Laurent ad. PARTY GIRL They told how she appears to be back on the party circuit and said at July's BST gig: "Kate was having it large at Hyde Park and was knocking back cans of Peroni. Recently, pals of the supermodel expressed their worries she had reverted back to her drinking, party girl heyday. 'She was hanging out in Van Morrison's private backstage area, before watching him from the side of the stage — before she went back to the bar for another drink. 'When she watched Neil Young, she flitted between the audience and the suites to keep the beers flowing. 'Kate sank a fair few drinks with her friends and quietly slipped away before Neil finished his set. 'The whole time she was laughing and giggling. 'Kate was quite literally the life and soul of the party. And there wasn't a crystal in sight.' Back in 2020, one of her closest pals, DJ Fat Tony, said she had been sober for two years. And as she launched her former wellness brand Cosmoss, Kate unveiled a rebranded version of herself to fans. It was Kate's return to her party lifestyle, pals claim, that influenced the break-up with her teetotal boyfriend of nine years, British photographer Nikolai Von Bismarck. In December, friends told us that the pair were going on 'different journeys'. One pal revealed: 'Kate feels fabulous and she wants to get back out there and have some fun.' 7 7

Lioness Lucy and her defeated Euros opponent have a ball... in matching her-and-hers bikinis

Two weeks ago Lucy Bronze and Ona Batlle were flying into each other with tackles as the Lionesses beat Spain in the Euros. Now they're still close marking – but having a splashing time together on holiday in Formentera, the smallest Balearic isle. Wearing matching string brown bikinis, Chelsea right-back Lucy, 33, and Barcelona defender Ona, 26, tanned on a motorboat. Then they hopped on a paddleboard before going snorkelling, finally hosing each other down in the 31C Mediterranean heat. The pair, who played together for Barcelona in the 2023-24 season, are thought to have been enjoying the isle for several days. Last week Lucy shared images on Instagram of two iced coffees in a restaurant, tagging Ona, plus idyllic beaches and moped rides. She captioned the pictures 'And breathe'. Lucy, called 'the world's best player' by ex-England defender Phil Neville, consoled Ona on the pitch in Basel as teammates celebrated their penalty shoot-out win. Now they're still close marking – but having a splashing time together on holiday (pictured) in Formentera, the smallest Balearic isle It was a reversal of fortunes from 2023, when Spain beat England in the World Cup Final and Ona comforted tearful Lucy. Lucy, who grew up in Northumberland, has a Portuguese father and speaks Spanish, French and Portuguese. Her close friendship with Ona continued when she moved to Chelsea from Barcelona last summer. They posted photos from Disneyland Paris at Christmas and holidayed again in June before the Euros. Ona shared shots of them on a lilo and dressing for dinner.
